1 INTR ODUCTION The ASK Proxima M2+™ is a projector specifically designed fo r portability , connectivity , an d collaboration. It is easy to connect, easy to use, easy to transport, and easy to maintain. Image Re solu tion The XGA r esolution of the pr ojected image is 1024x768.

4 Intr oducti on Usag e Guideli nes • Do not l ook directly into th e projection lens when th e projector is turned on. The bright light may harm your eyes. • Do not block the grills on the projector . Restricting the air flow can cause it to over heat and turn of f.
5 SETTING UP THE PR OJECTOR 1 Place the pr ojector on a flat surface. • The pr ojector must be within 6 feet (1.8 m) of your power source and your computer . • If you want to project from behind a translucent screen, set up the pr ojector behind your screen.
6 Setti ng up the Pr ojecto r NO TE : Before you continue , mak e sure the p rojector and all other equipment is turned o ff. If you’ re connecting a computer , mak e sur e the distance betw een it and the proj ecto r is 6 feet or l ess .
7 NO TE: Many laptop computers do not automatically turn on their external video port when a sec- ondar y display device such as a pro jector is connected. Ref er to your computer manua l for t he command that activates the exter- nal video por t. Connecting a Computer The pr ojector ships w ith an analog compu ter cable.
8 Setti ng up the Pr ojecto r Do you want to adv ance sl ides in P o werP oint with the projec tor’ s rem ot e ? NO TE: The USB mouse is suppor ted for use with Windows 98 or higher only . 1 Plug the USB end of the computer cable into the m ouse con- nector on your computer .
9 Connec ting a Vi deo Pla y er If your video device (VCR, D VD player , video camera) uses a round, o ne-prong composite video connector, use the composite audio/video (A/V ) cable. • If your video device uses a ro und, four-pr ong S-video con- nector , use an S-video cable, or dered separately .

11 P ow ering up the Pr ojecto r NO TE : Alw ays use the pow er cor d that shipped with the pro jector . 1 Remove the lens ca p. 2 Plug the power cord into the side of th e projector, then plug it into your electrical outlet. A surg e-protected power strip is r ecommended.
12 Setti ng up the Pr ojecto r Uncheck any checked boxes, then clic k Next. W indows auto- matically locates th e driver . If this driver ha s been removed, reload the driver using your W indows opera ting system CD. When W indows finds the driver , you a re r eady to insta ll it.
13 Click Finish w hen installation is complete. 6 The computer image should display on the projection s creen. If it doesn’t, pr ess the Source/Select button on the key pad or the Computer button on the remote to display your com- puter ’s i mage.
14 Setti ng up the Pr ojecto r T urning Off the Pr ojector T o turn off the projector , press th e Po w e r button. A dialog box appears, askin g for confirmatio n. Press Pow e r again to turn the lamp off. The fa ns contin ue to run and the LED blink s orange fo r about 90 seconds, then the projector shuts off.
15 USING T HE PROJ ECTOR This section d escribes how to use and mak e adjustme nts to the projector . It also provides a refer ence to the keypad and r emote buttons and the opti ons available from the on-screen menus. Basic Ima g e Adjustment 1 Make sure you have powered up your equipment in the right order (pa ge 1 1).
16 Usin g the Projecto r The projector is equipped with a self-locking, quick- release foot and a le veling f oot. T o raise the projector: 1 Raise the projector to the heigh t you want, then pr ess and hold the foo t release button. Rel ease the button t o lock the foot into position (Fi gure 1 1).
17 Using the Remote Cont rol T o advance PowerPoint slides with the projector ’s r emote, you must connect the USB cable on the projector ’s computer cable to the computer . See page 8 for mor e information. Point the remote control at the projection screen or at the front or rear of the projector (not at the computer).

Using the On-Scr een Menus The proj ector has me nus that allow y ou to make im age adju st- ments an d change a vari ety of set tings. NO TE: Some m enu i tems m ay be gray ed out (dimmed) at cer tain times.
21 Basic Menu F IGURE 16 Basic menu Contra st The contrast contro ls the degree of diff erence between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Adjusting th e contrast changes the amount of bl ack and wh ite in the image.
22 Usin g the Projecto r Ke y s t o n e This option helps to keep the image square as the angle of projec- tion is changed. Use this feature to adjust the ima ge vertically and make a squarer image. See page 19 for details on keyst one adjust ment s. 1 Press the down button to highlight Key stone, then press Select .

27 User ’ s logo menu This menu al lows you to dis play a blank blue or bla ck screen instead of the default scr een at startup and when no sour ce is detected. Y ou must have both a computer and video s ource con- nected to use PIP . Y o u can’t show a computer image in the smaller PiP w indow , only a video im age.

30 Mainte nance & T r oublesho oting Replacing the Pr ojection Lamp WA RN I N G: T o av oid burn s , allow the p rojector to cool fo r at least 60 minutes before you replace the lamp. N ever extract the lamp housing while the projector is oper ating.

32 Mainte nance & T r oublesho oting Replacing the Batteries i n the Remote Contr ol The life of the batteries d epends on how often a nd how long y ou use the remote. Sym ptoms of low battery ch arge include erratic res ponses when using the remote and a r educed range of opera- tion.
33 T r oub leshooti ng LEDs The Lamp LE D on top of the projector (Figure 13 on pa ge 18) will alert you to cert ain proble ms. • A solid red Lamp LED means it is time to change the lamp. See page 30. • A blinking r ed Lamp LED means the projector is overheat- ing.
34 Mainte nance & T r oublesho oting Problem: Only the s tar t-up screen displ a ys • V erify that the cables are connected correctly . See page 7 for connection procedur es. • Make sure that the cables do not have any ben t pins. • V erify that the proper input source is connected.
35 Problem: Image is too wid e or na rr ow for screen • Adjust the zoom or projector placement. • Adjust the width of the image. See page 23. Problem: Image is out of focus • T urn the projection lens to focus the imag e. • Make sur e the projec tion screen is at lea st 4.
36 Mainte nance & T r oublesho oting Pr obl em: Lamp shut s off • A minor power surge may cause the lamp to shut off. T urn off the projector , wait at least a minute, then turn it back on . • Make sure the vents on the projector ar e not blocked.
