Network Interface 1-1 1. Getting ready 1.1 System require ments The following operating envi ronment is required in order to use the network interface. Item Requirements PC Type IBM’s PC-A T compatible machine loaded with one of the following operating systems.

2-1 Network Interface 2. Installation 2.1 Cable connecti on ∗ T o connect the mach ine to an Ethernet network, a LAN cable (twist pair cable with RJ-45 type modular connector ) is required. (A LAN cable is not included with this kit.) 1 Turn your machine of f.
2-2 Network Interface 2.2 Setting the IP Address An IP address is required to install the network driver and use your machin e as a network printer and net work scanner . Y ou need to obtain the IP address from your network administra tor and register it as shown below .
2-3 Network Interface 2.3 Installing the driver 1 Insert the CD supplied with your machine into your CD-ROM drive . The CD-ROM main menu will be displayed automatically . 2 Click [Setup], then [Network Setup]. NOTE: If this window does not appe ar , run the “Setup.

2-6 Network Interface 2.3.1 Activating the optional second paper cassette If an optional device has be en installed on your machine, you must open t he driver and activate it. T o activ ate the optional device: 1 Click [Start] [ Sett ings] [Printer].

Printer driver setti ngs 3.1 Open the print er properties There are two w ays to open the printer properties: • F rom your application software • F rom the printer icon NOTE: Changing the printer propert ies from the printer icon will change them for all documents you p rint on this printer .

4-1 Network Interface 4. Network scanner feat ure 4.1 Operation summ ary This scanner driver is used to import scanned images stored in the scan-box of the machine to TW AIN compatible applic ations operating on Windows environment. The operation for this scan driver is summarized as follows: 1 Setup the scan box on you ma chine.
4-2 Network Interface 3 The machine prompts y ou to enter the name of the scan box. 01:Box Name;Upper 01_ 4 The box number is pre-instal led as the box name. Press [Cancel] to delete it and enter your desired na me by using the numeric keys. Names can contain up to 16 char acters.
4-3 Network Interface 4.3 Scanning the d ocument into a scan box 1 Press [COPY F AX SCAN] to change to Scan mo de. When the machine is in the scan mode, the machine shows: Scan Ready 200dpi A4 100% Resolution Zoom ratio Scanning size 2 Set the document face up in the ADF or face d own on the document glass.
4-4 Network Interface 50%, 64% and 70% are not available in 200dpi. – or – Press [Advanced Functions] r epeatedly until “ Zoom” appears , then press [Enter]. Press [ ] or [ ] to adjust the zoom ratio . – or – Enter your desired ratio (50 to 200 %) using the numeric keys .
4-5 Network Interface If you are using the ADF , procee d to step 8. If you are using the documen t glass, skip to step 9. 8 If you have more d ocuments to scan, press [Next Doc.] while scanning and proceed to step 9. Otherwise , the mac hine will return to the standby mode after it has finished sc anning.
4-6 Network Interface 4.4 Importing a do cument from a scanned box F ollow the steps below to a ccess the TW AIN dri ver from your application software: 1 Select the PC softw are program (Imaging , Photoshop , e tc.). This proc e- dure uses Microsoft Imaging as an example.

4-8 Network Interface No. Item Comments 14 Resolution According to the application software , it may need to change the linear resolution to import (download) the scanned document. In this case, you can change the resolution without re-scanning the document.
4-9 Network Interface 4.4.1 Manually erasin g a document stored in a scan box T o erase a file from the computer • In the scanner dialog box, select the file and click on the right mouse button. Then select “Del ete” from the po p-up menu to delete the selected file .
4-10 Network Interface 4 Use the numeric keys to ente r the scan box’s four -digit I D . code. Then press [Enter]. If you enter an invalid I.D . code the machine will ret urn to the standby mode. 5 The machine shows: 01:Select File No. 00:All Documents 6 Press [ ] or [ ] to select the file numbe r (1 to 10) of the file you want to erase.
4-11 Network Interface 4.5 Changing the d efault settings The default settings offer t he most common scan settings, please try usin g these settings prior to adju stment.
4-12 Network Interface Scanner auto reset The scanner settings are ini tially set to return to their default condition auto- matically after the mac hine has been idle for 3 minutes .
5-1 Network Interface 5. Internet fax feature s 5.1 Internet commu nication 5.1.1 Internet fax tr ansmission (Scan to e-mail) P aper documents, such as hand -written letters, can be transmitted by e-mai l using the existing e-mail en vironment just like sending a fax.
5-2 Network Interface 5.2 Basic paramete rs The following are basic para meters for using the Internet F ax feature . Please contact your network adminis trator for the required information and connec- tion to the LAN . Print this page and ask your network administrator to fill in the required information.

5-4 Network Interface 5.4 Configuring the e-mail environment 5.4.1 Time zone setting The Time Zone is required as part of the e-ma il header information when sending Internet faxes . 1 On your machine’ s control panel, press [Menu], [9], [Enter]. [Program] No.
5-5 Network Interface 5.4.2 e-mail environm ent settings These are important settings that allow the system to send and receive e-mail. Please consult your system operator a nd/or network administrator before entering these settin gs. Entering improper settings can prevent sy stem operation and may cause lost or delayed mail.
5-6 Network Interface E-mail environment parameter s No. P arameter Default Comments 01 Name — The name that is displayed in the sender field (From) when sending e-mail. Up to 40 characters . 02 Mail Address — The e-mail address assigned to your machine for sending and receiving.
5-7 Network Interface No. P arameter Default Comments 09 File F ormat TIFF Select whether the document is converted into a “TIFF” (ITU-T T .37 full mode), “TIFF-S” (ITU-T T .37 simple mode), or “PDF” format when sending an Internet F ax. Note that a PDF file is only available if send- ing the documents to a PC .
5-8 Network Interface 5.5 Registering an e-mail address Y ou can register a recipient’ s e-mail address into the one-t ouch keys or speed- dial numbers . When communications ar e frequent with a certain recipient, this setting can sa ve cumbersome entry jobs.
5-9 Network Interface 5.5.2 Speed-dial numb er registration 1 Press [Menu], [1], [2], [1], then [Enter ]. Enter Speed-Dial No. 001:No Number Stored 2 Select a speed-dial number , then press [Enter]. Fax Number / /Enter 3 Select “Mail Address”.
5-10 Network Interface 5.6 Configuring fro m the Internet browser Y ou can configure the network env ironment and register contacts from your Internet browser . 5.6.1 Internet FAX co nfiguration screen 1 Start up your Internet brows er . NOTE: Y ou will need the Microsoft ® Internet Expolorer version 6 or later .

5-16 Network Interface 5 Use the numeric keys to ente r the three-digit identifier for the speed-dial number you w ant to dial. The machine shows the name (or mail address) you have stored: 6 Press [Start]. 5.7.4 Broadcasting Y our machine allows simul taneous communication with normal G3 fax and Internet fax.
5-17 Network Interface 5.8 Internet fax r eception 5.8.1 Receiving e-mai l from a POP server As a default setting , your machine will query the POP server for n ew e-mail at 10 second intervals and i f the new e-mail has arrived, it will retrieve the mail and automatically print it.
