11 SECTION 6: CONTROLS THROTTLE CONTROL The throttl e control is l ocated on th e engine. It regu- lates the s peed of the engi ne. See Figure 20 . SAFETY IGNITION SW ITCH The ignitio n key must be i nserted in the switch befo re the u nit will start .
12 SECT ION 7: O PER ATION BEFO RE ST ARTI NG WARN ING: Observe all Warning Labels on the snow thrower prior to use. See Figure 2. Your snow thrower is shipped with oil; however, you must check the oil level be fore oper ating. B e careful not to overfill.
13 6. When engi ne starts, r elease star ter button, an d move ch oke grad ually to OFF. If engine fal ters, move c hoke imm ediately to FULL and then gradually to OFF. 7. Repeat ste ps 6 and 7 until e ngine sta rts. If engine f ails to start, r epeat st eps 5, 6, and 7 until engine s tarts.

15 ADJUSTING SHIF T ROD 1. Remove the hairpin c lip a nd flat wa sher fro m the ferrule a nd remo ve the ferrule f rom the shift lever. P lace the shift lever in the fastest forwa rd speed positio n. Models 602, 64 2, 662: 2. Push up on the shift ar m assem bly as far as i t will go.

18 5. Using a 7 /8" wrench to hold the shaft, loosen, but do not compl etely remov e, the hex nut and bell washer on the left end of gear shaft. S ee Figure 32. 6. Lightly tap the hex nut to dislodge the b all bearing from the rig ht side of f rame.
