2 CONDENSA TION IS THE ENEMY OF VIDEO RECORDERS 2 WHA T IS CONDENSA TION? 1. When a v er y cold dr ink is poured into a glass, the w ater droplets which form on the outer surface of the glass are an e xample of condensation.
3 A udio recor ding When recording in 3H, L(linear)12H or L24H mode, audio is pla y ed back only during their respectiv e modes . S-VHS mode This mode has higher resolution and picture quality than normal VHS mode when using S-VHS tapes.
4 1 PO WER button (Press f or on; press again f or off) The PO WER indicator illuminates when the VCR is s witched on. 2 EJECT b utton Press to remove the cassette. 3 Cassette loading slot Cassette tape is inserted in this slot for loading. 4 ST OP button Press to discontinue all tape related functions.
5 9 Repeat indicator Illuminates when “ T APE END ” in the “ FIRST TIME SET UP ” menu is set to “ REPEA T ” or “ ALARM • PRO T ” . A Cassette status indicator Illuminates when cassette tape is inser ted. The light advances , stops or flashes corresponding to the mov ement of the tape.

12 FIRST TIME SET UP 1 SETTING THE OPERA TION WHEN THE T APE REACHES THE END (T APE END) Sets the state of operation of the VCR when the tape r uns out during recording. ST OP: The tape stops. “ End ” will appear on the fluorescent display and “ T ape End ” will appear on the monitor .

17 Recording time mode REPEA T RECORDING When the “ T APE END ” of the “ FIRST TIME SET UP ” menu is set to “ REPEA T ” or “ ALARM • PR OT ” and the repeat recording mode is set (the REPEA T indicator is illuminated), the tape will automatically be rew ound to the star t when the tape end is reached.

19 T APE COUNTER A five digit counter indicates the relativ e position on the recorded portion of the tape. If a por tion of the tape is not recorded, the counter will not increase or decrease during play , FF/R WD or search modes. •“ EEE EE ” illuminates to indicate that the VCR power is in stand-b y mode.

21 SETTING THE RECORDING PERIOD BY SPECIFYING THE D A YS OF THE WEEK (SPECIAL D W) Set the recording period by specifying the start and end day of the week for timer recording. 1. Display the “ TIMER PROGRAM ” setting display . 2. T ur n the JOG dial to select “ SPECIAL D W ” and tur n the SHUTTLE ring to the r ight.
22 ALARM RECORDING • It is possib le to switch to the alarm recording by ap- plying the set signal from the alarm sensor dur ing re- cording in 3H,L12H, L24H, 48H - 960H or 0H mode. • Set the alarm recording mode and alarm recording per iod with the “RECORDING SET UP” menu.

Should a malfunction occur dur ing record- ing, a corresponding indication appears on the monitor screen and the fluorescent displa y .
