A flashing cursor indicates the positio n of the characte r you are entering. The cursor automatically advances after one secon d, or if you press a different keypad key.

You ca n prog ram any Personal ke y as a Speed Dial key for one- touch dialing.
Customizing Your Phone for the Carrier. After pressing the Speed Dial numb er for the carrier, wait for connection to the Carrier. When connected, press th e Speed Di al number for the party you are calling to send the DTMF (toucht one signals) to the Carrier.
5235 IP Phone SIP User and Administrator Guide Making and Answering Calls Making Calls You can make and receive calls using the hand set, headset or handsfree speaker. You can dial by extension number or phon e n umber, user ID name, or SIP URL or IP address.
Making and Answering Call s Dial by Phone Book Entry 1. Press Superkey , and then press >> until PHONE BOOK? appears. 2. Press OK . PHONE BOOK <number of items> appea rs on th e disp lay. 3. Press ( UP ) and ( DOWN ) to navigate to the entry you want to call.
5235 IP Phone SIP User and Administrator Guide Answering Calls Incoming calls ring Line 1, if all lines are free, or the n e xt available line. If all lines are busy and Call Forward – Busy is not enabled (se e Enable/Disable Call Forwa r d on page 18 ), callers hear a busy signal.
Call Handling Call Handling Hold The 5235 IP Phone supports a maximum of eight held calls at the same time. When you place a call on hold, or when anot her pa rty puts you on hold, the on-hold beep reminds you that you are holding or on hold. If the handset is in its cradle, you hear the beep through the handsfree spe aker.

Call Handling • To talk to this party, wait until the con nection is established, speak to the party, press ( TRANS/CONF ) or press TRANSFR and then hang up. This is an Attended Call Transfer. • To transfer the call without speaki ng to this pa rty, immediately press ( TRANS/CONF ) or press TRANSFR and then hang up.
5235 IP Phone SIP User and Administrator Guide 3. Press ( TRANS/CONF ). The call put on hold in step 1 is connected to the call in progress. Leave a Conference Call Do one of the following: • Hang up. • Press HANGUP . • Press ( C ANCEL ). Note: If any party hangs up, the call remains connected.
Call Handling Access your Voice Mail Messages 1. Lift the handset (optional). 2. Press ( MESSAGE ) and enter your voice mailbox number. 3. Follow the voice mailbox prompts.
5235 IP Phone SIP User and Administrator Guide Using Advanced Features Do Not Disturb Do Not Distur b (D ND) forward s all calls direct ly to your voice mail box so that a ringin g phone will not disturb you. If Do Not Di st urb is e nabl ed and you do not have a voice mailbox set up, callers hear a busy signal.
Using Advanced Features 3. Press OK . The number of calls appears. 4. Press ( UP ) and ( DOWN ) to navigate through the logged call entries. 5. When the desired entry appears, press DETAIL , an d then press << and >> to view the entry information.

Using Advanced Features 3. Press ( UP ) and ( DOWN ) to navigate through the entries until ENTRY EMPTY appears . 4. Press ADDNEW . PROGRAM ADDRESS? appears. 5. Press YES , and then enter the IP address or SIP URL of the contact. Note: Press <−−− to delete characters.
5235 IP Phone SIP User and Administrator Guide Shared Lines and Keys There are three types of shared lines: SIP : basic shared line with limited features (supports call forking b ut does n ot have LED activity and lines are not linked. Th is type of shared line is available in normal SIP mode).

If an SNTP server is not available, you must reprogram these sett ings every time the phone reboots. 1. Press Superkey , and then press >> until SETTINGS & OPTIONS? appears.
Administrator Tools Administrator Tools This section is the SIP Administrator’ s referen ce to S uperkey menu interface configuration options. Where applicable, it references the approp ria te page(s) of the Web Configuration Tool. Note: Some procedures can only be co mpleted from the Web Configuratio n Tool .

Administrator Tools 3. Press OK , enter your administrator password, and then press SUBMIT . HTTP <current status> appear s on the displa y. 4. Do one of the following: • To enable HTTP, press TURNON . • To disable HTTP, press TURNOFF . • To enable or disable TFTP , press NEXT .

For the settings to take effect, reboot the phone (i.e. unplug the po wer source from the phone, and then plug the power source ba ck in).
Administrator Tools 5. Press CONFIRM . The downloading process begins and the pho ne reboots. This process may take approxi mately 1 to 2 minutes. When the time and date appear on the display, the download and re boot is complete and the phone i s ready for u se.

To configure voice mail on the 5235 IP Phone, access the SIP Configuration page of the Web Configuration Tool or use the pro ce dure belo w .
