Setting the remote contr ol This is only necessar y if your appliance does not respond to the RU760. If that is the case, the RU760 does not recognize the brand and/or model of y our appliance and y ou need to progr am the remote control to do so. The example below (TV) instructs you how to do this.
Automatically setting the r emote control If you cannot f ind the r ight code for your brand device, the remote control can automatically search for the right code . Example of TV: 1 Make sure the TV is switched on and select a channel using the original remote control or the keys on the TV (for example channel 1).
3. K e ys and functions The illustration on page 3 gives an over view of all keys and their functions. 1 y Standby . . . . . . . . switches TV , VCR, SA T , AMP , D VD or CD mode on or off. 2 LEARN . . . . . . . . . . switches the RU760 in programming or lear ning mode.
4. Extra possibilities Pro gramming Macr os A macro allows y ou to automate actions you ha ve to do frequently with your remote control. E.g. if you want to watch a D VD , you ha ve to turn on the DV D, turn on the TV , turn on the receiver/amplifier , select the D VD input channel on your amplif ier and star t playing the D VD .
Learn a k ey IIf you miss cer tain functions from your original remote control of the RU760, the RU760 can lear n these functions from the or iginal remote . Y ou can store a fuction under any of the a vailable keys of the RU760, except LEARN, SELECT and SHIFT .
Switch backlighting on or off With the backlighting of the RU760 you can f ind the r ight key on your remote, even in a dimly lit room. As the backlighting consumes additional power , the batter y lifetime will reduce when the backlighting is used frequently .
Cop y a de vice mode In case you ha ve two TV’ s, you can change any of the other device modes of the RU760 into a second TV mode for controlling that second TV . Example:Y ou have two TVs, but no satellite or cable box. 1 Select the target mode SA T with the SELECT key .
4 Press the SELECT key twice to confirm – The mode light will blink twice to conf ir m the selected mode is reset to default settings. • If the mode light blinks once for a longer time, the reset failed.
5 Press key 1. – The mode light will blink twice to conf ir m that the VCR volume controls are assigned to TV . • If the mode light blinks once for a longer time, the volume assignment failed.

T r oubleshooting • Problem – Solution • The device you want to operate does not respond and the device label does not blink when y ou press a key . – Replace the old batteries with two new 1.5 Volt, R03, UM4 or AAA batteries . • The device you want to operate does not respond but the device label does blink when a key is pressed.
