Before using for the first time Before using for the firs t time please note the following points: Setting the water softener . The water so ftener must be set to corr e- spond to the wat er hardness in your area.
Opening and closing the doo r T o open the door . Pull on the handle. If the door is opened duri ng operation, all machine funct ions will aut omatically be interrupted. Note: T o open th e dishwashe r door if the front panel has not yet been installed, see Step 3 of the “In stallation” i nstructions, found late r in this manual.
W ater Softener If the water hardness in your a rea is under 150 ppm (mg/l) you should not activate the built-in water softener wit h salt. Thi s could lead to problems including cloudy glassware.
Programming the water hard- ness The Programme touch pa ds are used to set the water hardness. Eac h pad can be used alone (le vel 1) or in combi- nation with th e “T op Solo”pad (le vel 2) to programme the hard ness to the valve deter mine d using the Programm- ing T able on the previous page.
T o programme the water hardness, proceed as follows: Open the door . T ur n off the di shwasher . Press and hold buttons b and d while simulta neously tu rn ing on the dishwasher . The “ON” indicator la mp will light and the “ 8 k ”and c lamps will flash.

Setting the water hardness selector inside th e wa sh cabinet. The water ha rdness selector is fac tor y set to position 6. It sho uld only be reset if your water ha rdness is in the range of 650 - 1170 ppm (mg/l). ppm (mg/l) gr/Impgal water hardness selector (Position) 20- 630 1.
Filling the salt reservoir . The salt reserv oir should be filled be- for e the first use and whenever the “ 8 k ” indicator lamp lights up. Us e water soft ener reactivation salt (1 - 4mm gra in size), as oth er salts m ay contain inso luble additives which can impair the functioning of the sof tener and settle on glasswar e.
Salt indicator . When the salt re servoir is empty , the “ 8 k ” indicator lamp will light, not if- ying you that the reservoir should be re- filled with reactivation salt . Once filled, the dishw asher will automat i- cally reactivate the softener when necessary .
Adding rinse aid The use of Rins e Aid (for example , Jet-Dry ® ) is r ecommended to prevent spotting on dis hes and glassw are that norm ally occurs during th e dry ing phase of au tomatic dishwashing, as well as to aid the dr ying result.
Pour liquid rinse aid into t he storage container unt il it is visible on the su r- face of the screen. Do not add any more rinse aid until the H indicator lamp comes on. Only use rinse aid s pecifically labeled for resid ential dishwashe rs. Inadver tently u sing powder or liquid detergents will damage the rins e aid dispenser .
Loading the dishwas her Scrape food a nd other solid waste such as bon es and pit s from dishes, but do not rinse. Load the dishes so that w ater can reach all surfa ces. Do not place dish es and cutler y in- side other pieces w here they may be concealed.
Loading examples. Upper basket. For small, lightweight, or delicate items such as c ups, saucer s, glass es, des- sert bowls, etc. and also he at sensitive plastic war e. Bottom basket. For larger a nd heavier it ems such as plates, serv ing platters and sauc epans.
Cutlery tray . T o make unloading ea sier , cutler y can be gr ouped in zones, on e for knives, one for fork s, etc. Larger items lik e sauce ladles, cak e slices, l ong knives an d mixing sp oons can be placed lengthwise in t he trough in the centre of the tr ay .
Coffee bar . Place coffee mugs on top of the bar s o that they sit at a slant . This allows all water to run off the base of the mug. The bar can also be used as a seper- ator betwe en two rows of glasses keep- ing them from leaning against each other .
Adjusting the upper basket. (depending on model) The upper basket heigh t is adjustable. If tall it ems of dis hware are being washed, more room can be obtained by raising or lower ing the upper basket. Pull out the upper baske t and loosen the two locknuts on either side of the basket.
Items not suitable fo r dishwashe rs – Cutlery w ith wooden ha ndles. – W ooden cutting boards. – Glued items such as old k nives with handles that are glued together around the shank of the blade. – Hand made craft items. – C opper or tin items.
Adding detergen t Use only powder detergents for mu- lated for r esidenti al dishwashers (for example, Elec trasol ® ). Do not use gels or liqui d de ter gents. Press the latch on the det ergent dis- penser . The cover will spring open. Fill the dispense r using approxi- mately 20 - 25 ml (3/ 4 - 1 ounce) of a quality powder deter gent.
Choosing a programme The wash programme chosen s hould depend on the type of dishes and the degree of soiling. In most cases the NORMAL programme or one of the UN IVERSAL programmes will give excellent results. The available programmes and some of their applications are liste d in the Pro- gramme Char t on the next two pages.

Operating the dishwash er T urning on. Open the door . Open the wat er valve (if it is clo sed). Press the “I” (ON) touch pad (20). The “ON” indicator lamp will light. Starting a programme. Press the touch pad for the desir ed programme.The indicato r lamp for that touch pad will ligh t.
Interrupting a programme. A programme can be interrupted by opening the door . If the door is once again closed, the programme will continue from the poi nt of interruptio n. Wa r n i n g ! The water in the dishwa sh er may be hot, and steam may be present! Only o pen th e door if absolutely necessary and exercise extreme caution when doing so.
Unloading the dishw asher Dishes tend to break and chip easier when they are hot. Allow the dishes to cool until they are comfortable to handle before unloading them. If the door is ope ned slightly at the completion of the dr ying cyc le, the dishes will cool much faster .
Additional feat ures T op Solo (18) When this fea ture is selec ted, the ma- jority of the w ater is directed to the top and middle spray ar ms of the dis h- washer . Its use is rec ommended when all the dis hes and cutler y needing cleaning can be loaded into t he upper basket and cutl er y tray .
Heated drying A heating element is used to h elp dr y the dishe s in all wash p rogrammes. The “Heated dr ying” feat ure can be tur ned off if desired.
End of programme notifi cation A buzzer will sou nd to indica te the e nd of the wash programme. This buzzer can be tu rne d off as follows: T urning the buzzer off. Open the door . T ur n off the di shwasher . Press and hold buttons b and d while simulta neously tu rn ing on the dishwasher .
Cleaning and care Cleaning the filters in the wash cabinet. The combination filter in t he base o f the wash cabinet should be regu- larly inspecte d and cleaned as necessar y . Any broken glass or dishware should be removed imme- diately upon discover y .
T u rn t he combinatio n filter over an d open the co arse filter co ver by pull- ing back on the lockin g tab. Clean as for th e combination filt er , and press the locking device back in. Impor tant: After cleaning, make sure that t he lock- ing device is properly locked.
Cleaning the spray ar m s On rare occasio ns par ticles of foo d may get st uck in t he spray a rm jets. They can be easily c leaned as follows. Push up the middle spray ar m b to engage the toot h-wheel mecha nism. Then unscrew the spray ar m c . Remove the low er basket and ta ke out the lowe r spray a rm (lift up a s il- lustrated).
Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve. Use cauti on when cleaning the fil- ters, non-retur n valv e or drain pump, as glass or bone splinters may be cau ght in the bo ttom of the wash cabinet . If the water i n the dishwasher is not completely drained at t he end of a pro- gramme, the drain pump or non-retur n valve may be bloc ked.
Cleaning the water inlet filter . The wate r valve housing on the inlet hose contains electrical co mpo- nents and sho uld not be immersed, or run through water . A filter is incorpora ted in t he inlet hose that is attac hed to the dishw asher’ s main shutoff valve.
Cleaning the wash cabinet In general the w ash cabinet is self- cleaning, provided that the correct amount o f dishwasher det ergent is used. If however t here are lime scale or gre ase deposits these can be re moved with a pr oprietary di shwasher clean er .
Problem solving guide With the aid of the fo llowing guid e, minor problems can be easily co r- rec t e d. If you are unable to correct the problem, please conta ct the Miele Ser - vice Depar tment. Miele cannot be responsible for prob- lems resulting from impr ope r installa- tion or maintenanc e.
The dishes are not clean – Old or improper detergent was used. – The amount of detergent was used not correct (see “Addin g detergent”). – The drain hose is kinked. * – The drain pump is blocked (see “Cleaning and care”). * – The dishes are loaded uncorrectly .

Accessories Bottle holder . (depending on model) A bottle holde r (for milk or baby bottle s) is available fo r use in the lowe r basket. T o achieve th e proper cleaning results, the bottle holde r should only be place d in the posit ions mark ed with wh ite.

Dishwasher i nstallation These ful ly integrated dishwashers a re specially des igned for inst allation under a continuo us counter t op. A cabinet mat ching panel must be cus - tom made f or installa tion on t he front of the dish washer .
3. Installi ng the dishwas her under the countertop. It is preferable t o install t he main w ater and electric supplies s o that they ca n be accessed through an adjacen t cabinet, rather t han situat ing them be- hind the ma chine. See the “Plumbing” and “Electrical” section s for proper con- nection procedures before continuing.
Installing the sli des. T wo slides are included an d should be instal led on the fee t of the dishwash er before the machine is pushed under the counter to p. They will allo w the ma- chine to slide easie r , protect the floor , and allow adjustmen t of the rear level- ing legs from the front of the machine.
Adjust ing legs. Adjust the rear legs until the top cor - ner of dis hwasher (above th e ad- justed le g) presses a gainst the counter top. D o not overs tress the counter top; slide s kid provides 10:1 gear ratio! T o raise th e machine - turn cloc kwise.
4. Installi ng the custom door panel. A custom do or panel must be inst alled on the dishwash er before it can be safely operat ed. A single large panel or a two piece panel sepa rated at t he drawer line can be used.
The door panel is at tached to the dis h- washer using t he mounting bracket that comes se cured to the f ront of the ma- chine. T o r emove the br acket: Loosen th e bracket re taining scr ew (black arr ow) locate d on each side of the machine door .
Installing the bracket on the rear of the custom door panel. Push the d ishwasher into i ts opening and adjust the height . Measure the distance “ X ” between the round hole in the machine out er door panel (shown in ins et) and the lower edge of the a djoining cabinet door .
There are two notches, marked as A in the illustra tion, locate d on the mount ing bracket. Place the bracket on the door panel so that: a - the notches cross the previous ly drawn centerline, and b - the bottom alig ns with the horizon- tal “ X ” line.
Attaching the front panel to the dishwasher . The front panel h as been co rrectly in- stalled wh en: – the lower clips of the mounting bracket are seated in their respec- tive slot s on the dishwasher oute r door , and – The U shaped slots in the upper cor- ners of th e mountin g bracket ar e seated on their loc ator pins.
5. Adjusting the panel Once installed, the panel can be raised or lowered up to 1/16" (2 mm) to main- tain the cabine t lines. The panel height is adjusted by tu r n- ing the lower r ecessed screws on the edges of th e dishwashe r door . T o raise th e door – turn clockwise .
7. Adjusting the door springs. The door panel must be insta lled be- fore this adjustment is made. T o check wh ether the door sp rings ar e adjusted correctly: Open the dishwas her door to t he horizontal posit ion. – If the door springs up to a 15 ° angle from the horizontal pos ition, the ten- sion is correct.
8. Securing the dishwasher to the countertop. Push the d ishwasher back i nto the r e- cess. Close the door and ali gn the top of door (control panel) wit h the cabi- netry . Open the door and che ck the ver ti- cal gap, left and right side of top co r- ners of wash c abinet.
Special si tuation s If the edge of the co unter top is too nar- row , or the mach ine is being installed under a cut out area, us e the secu ring brackets provided. Pull the dishwash er out of the recess. Fit the secu ring pieces into th e slots on both the left and righ t hand side.
For Cori an ® or granite cou ntert ops, fasten the dis hwasher t o the adjacent cabinets us ing the opt ional side mount- ing brackets as s hown below . For openings greater than 23 5/8" (60 cm) wide: Pull the dishwash er out from under the counter to p about 4" (10 cm) .
9. Final adjustments Close the doo r of the dishwas her . Look at t he top left and right cor ners, alignment of the control panel and white wash c abinet behind it. If not s ymmetrical, push the l egs sideways on the floor , as shown below , to move the bott om of t he dishwasher .
10. Installing the toekick. T o prevent damaging the front panel, an d before installin g the c on - tinuous an d removabl e toekick, measurements must be take n to en- sure that the toekic k will not inter- fere with the complete openi ng of the dishwashe r door .
Electrical conne ction It is the r esponsibil ity of the cus- tomer to ensu re that the electrical and plumbing installations are per- form ed by a qu alified install er in compliance with nat ional and local codes and regulations.
Plumbing It is the responsibility and obligation of the custo mer to ensure that the electrical a nd plumbing installa tion is carried ou t by a qualified inst aller in compliance with nat ional and local codes and ordinances.
The protective outer cover mu st not be damaged in any way . Connect t he inlet hose wt h the “W aterpr oof” system verticall y , use angle connec tor if ne cessar y . There must be a distance of at least 20 cm between the f loor and the bot- tom of the “W ate rproof” unit housing.
Drainage system spec ifications: The machine comes equ ipped with: A 1.5 m (5 ft.) f lexible drain hose with an inter nal diameter of 22 mm (7 /8").
Drain hose connection: The drain hose s hould be connected di- re ctly to large drain pipes. By no means should connection be extended with 3/4" hose or smaller! C onnection t o drain sho uld be adjace nt to dishwashe r – left or right , but NEVER BEHIND! Change exist ing installatio n to comply with Miel e installati on instructio ns.
V enti ng the drainage system Only if the dishwasher drain hose is connected to a floor drai n or to a drain pipe that is bel ow the level of the lower baskets whee ls , the drain must be vented; othe rwise the water in- side of the dishwa sher may siphon out during th e course of a wash pro - gramme.
