Dishwasher deter‐ gents contain irritant or corrosive ingr edients which can cause burn‐ ing in the nose, mouth and throat if swallowed, or inhibit br eathing.
W arning and Safety instructions 17 In an appliance with a cutlery basket (depending on model), cut‐ lery is cleaned and dried more efficiently if placed in the basket with the handles downwards. However , to avoid the risk of injury, place knives and forks etc.
Caring for the envir onment 18 Disposal of the packing mate‐ rial The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.

Y ou can make the most of your appli‐ ance by following these tips: – F or most economical dishwashing, make full use of the baskets without overloading the dishwasher .
Caring for the envir onment 20 EcoF eedback consumption in‐ dicator The Consumption function is used for calling up information about the energy and water consumption of your dish‐ washer (see "Settings menu, Consump‐ tion").
Before using for the first time 21 Opening the door At the end of progr amm es with a drying phase (see "Pr ogramme chart"), the door will open automatically a little in order t o help the drying process. This function can be deactivated, if pr e‐ ferred (see "Settings menu, AutoOpen").
Before using for the first time 22 Basic settings Open the door . Switch the dishwasher on with the button. The welcome screen will appear when the dishwasher is switched on for the first time. Language The display will then change automati‐ cally to the scr een for setting the lan‐ guage.
Before using for the first time 23 Wat er hardness The display will change to the scr een for setting the water har dness. – The dishwasher must be progr am‐ med to the corr ect water hardness for your area. – Y our local water authority will be able to advise you of the water har dness level in your area.
Before using for the first time 24 Before using the appliance for the first time, you require: – appro x. 1 kg dishwasher salt, – domestic dishwasher deter gent, – rinse aid formulated for domestic dishwashers. Every dishwasher is test ed at the fac‐ tory .
Before using for the first time 25 Adding salt When filling the salt reservoir only open the door halfway to ensur e that all the salt gets into the r eservoir. Pr ess the button on the top of the salt reservoir in the dir ection of the arrow .
Before using for the first time 26 Add salt reminder Fill the salt reservoir with dishwasher salt for reactivation when Add salt appears. (If it appears during a pro‐ gramme, wait until the end of the pr o‐ gramme). Confirm with OK . The refill r eminder will go out.
Before using for the first time 27 Rinse aid Rinse aid is necessary to ensure wat er does not cling and leave marks on crockery during the drying phase and helps crockery dry faster aft er it has been washed. Rinse aid is poured int o the storage r es‐ ervoir and the amount set is dispensed automatically .
Before using for the first time 28 Add rinse aid only until it is visible in the opening. The rinse aid reservoir holds appr ox. 110 ml. Close the flap firmly so that it clicks into place. Otherwise water can ent er the rinse aid reservoir during a pr o‐ gramme.
L oading the dishwasher 29 Notes Remove coarse food residues fr om crockery . There is no need t o rinse items under running water . Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or paint in the dishwasher . Ash does not dissolve and is distributed in the wash cabinet.
L oading the dishwasher 30 Items not suitable for dishwashers: – Wooden cutler y and cr ockery or items with wooden parts: these may discolour and fade. The glue used in these items is not dishwasher -proof and wooden handles may come loose after being washed in a dish‐ washer .

F or safety reasons, do not oper‐ ate the dishwasher without the upper and lower baskets in place (ex cept when running the Tall items 65°C pro‐ gramme, if available).
L oading the dishwasher 32 Adjusting the upper basket In order t o gain more space for taller pieces of crockery in the lower or upper basket, the upper basket can be adjus‐ ted on thr ee levels with 2 cm between each level. The upper basket can also be set at an angle with one side high and the other side low.

F or larger and heavier items such as plates, serving platters, saucepans, bowls, etc. Glasses, cups and small items such as saucers can also be placed in the lower basket.
L oading the dishwasher 34 Hinged spikes (depending on model) The spikes at the front ar e used for washing plates, soup bowls, platters, desert bowls, and saucers. Both rows of spikes can be lower ed to make more r oom for large items, e.g. pots, pans and dishes.

Operation 41 Detergent Only use deter gents formulated for domestic dishwashers. Do not use washing-up liquid. Active ingredients Modern deter gents contain various ac‐ tive ingredients, the most important of which are: – Complexing agents t o prevent calcifi‐ cation.
Operation 42 Detergent dosage F ollow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer on the packaging. Unless direct ed otherwise, use one deter gent tab or add 20 to 30 ml de‐ ter gent to compartment II, depending on the level of soiling. With very heavy soiling you can also add a small amount of deter gent to com‐ partment l.
Operation 43 Adding detergent Pr ess the opening catch on the de‐ ter gent dispenser . The flap will spring open. The flap is always open at the end of a progr amme.
Operation 44 Switching on Open the stopcock, if it is closed. Open the door . Make sure the spr ay arms can rotat e freely . Pr ess the button for at least 2 sec‐ onds. The progr amme selected will appear briefly in the display and the appropri‐ ate indicator light will come on.
Operation 45 Starting the progr amme Start the progr amme by closing the door . The progr amme will begin. The In-operation indicat or light comes on to show that a pr ogramme has been started. A progr amme can only be cancelled in the first few minutes.
Operation 46 Energy management T o save energy, the dishwasher will switch off automatically 10 minutes af‐ ter the last time a button has been pressed or 10 minut es after the end of the progr amme (see "Settings menu, Optimise standby").
Operation 47 Switching off At the end of a progr am me: Open the door . The dishwasher can be switched off at any time using the button. Switching the dishwasher off during a progr amme stops the pr ogramme. Switching the dishwasher off during the run-up to a delay start time (Fle xiT imer) will also stop the pr ocess.
Operation 48 Interrupting a progr amme A progr amme is interrupted as soon as the door is opened. If the door is closed again, the pro‐ gramme will continue fr om the point it was at before the door was opened. Wat er in the dishwasher may be hot.
Pr ogramme options 49 Options Y ou can select and deselect the options using the appropriat e buttons and the display . Open the door . Switch the dishwasher on with the button. The indicator light ne xt to the pro‐ gramme select ed will come on.
Pr ogramme options 50 FlexiTimer with EcoStart The FlexiTimer gives you three ways of starting the progr amme by means of delaying the start. Y ou can set the start time or the finish time of a progr amme. Y ou also have the option of taking ad‐ vantage of time variable economy rat es of electricity using the EcoStart function.
Pr ogramme options 51 Start at With the Start at function, you set the exact time you want the pr ogramme t o start at. Use the arrow butt ons to set the hour and confirm with OK . The hours will be saved and the minute number block will be highlighted.
Pr ogramme options 52 EcoStart The EcoStart function allows you to take advantage of time variable economy rat es of electricity . Before you can use this option you must set up to thr ee electricity tariff time zones (see "Set‐ tings menu, EcoStart").
Pr ogramme options 53 DetergentAgent F or optimum cleaning results, the dish‐ washer automatically adjusts the pr o‐ gramme sequence t o the type of deter‐ gent being used. Depending on the progr amme, this can mean that the run‐ ning time and energy consumption vary slightly .

Cleaning and care 59 Check your dishwasher regularly (ap‐ pro x. every 4 - 6 months). This way faults and problems can be avoided. The ext ernal surfaces of the dishwasher are susceptible t o scratching. Contact with unsuitable cleaning agents can alter or discolour the e x‐ ternal surfaces.
Cleaning and care 60 Cleaning the door front Soiling that is left too long might become impossible to r emove and could cause the ext ernal surfaces to alter or discolour . Remove any soiling immediately . Clean the front with a clean sponge and a solution of hot water and washing-up liquid.
Cleaning and care 61 Checking the filters in the wash cabinet The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet retains coarse soil fr om the suds solution, preventing it access‐ ing the circulation syst em and re-enter‐ ing the cabinet through the spr ay arms.
Cleaning and care 62 T o clean the inside of the filter , the flap must be opened: Pr ess catches together in the di‐ rection of the arr ows as shown, and open the filter . Rinse all the filters under running wa‐ ter . Then close the flap so that the catch engages.

Maintenance 73 Cleaning the water inlet filter A filter is incorpor ated in the screw con‐ nection of the valve on the water inlet hose. The filter must be cleaned when dirty, otherwise insufficient water flows into the wash cabinet. The plastic housing of the water connection contains an electrical component.
Maintenance 74 Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If the water has not been pumped away at the end of a progr amme the drain pump or the non-return valve might be blocked. They are, however , easy to clean. Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains supply .

If the function to adjust the Sensor wash progr amme has been activated, the amount of rinse aid dispensed in the Sensor wash progr amme can be higher than that set.

Settings menu 90 Refill reminders If you only ever use combination prod‐ ucts containing salt and rinse aid in your dishwasher , you can switch the re‐ minders for salt and rinse aid off if you wish (see "Settings menu - Refill re‐ minders").
