Description of functions 14 The following functions are available on your ventilation hood, depending on the model: V ented mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the gr ease filt ers and directed outside.
Description of functions 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol This hood features a communication fun ction which enables the automatic control of the hood based on the operational status of a Miele induction cooktop. T o enable the communication function, the cooktop must be equipped with the corresponding Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is active, the hoo d always operat es in Automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). See "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0" for informa tion on manually operating the hood. Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If, for example, you switch on a burner at the highest power setting to heat cookware in pr eparation for searing and then reduce the power level after appr ox. 60 to 90 seconds, a cooking process is r ecognized.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 T emporarily e xiting Automatic mode T o tempor arily exit the Automatic mode when cooking: Manu ally select a different fan level, or Manually turn the hood off, or Activat e the Delayed shut down function on the ventilation hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The hood can be operat ed manually if: – The Con@ctivity 2.0 function is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated the Con@ctivity 2.0 function (see "T emporarily e xiting Automatic mode").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 Dimming and turning the overhead lighting on/off The overhead lighting can be switched on and off and dimmed independently of the fan. P r ess the lighting button briefly to turn it on or off. The lighting will turn on at maximum brightness.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 23 Filter saturation i ndicator The number of hours the hood has been in oper ation is st ored in appliance memory . When the grease filt er symbol , lights up, the filter satur ation indicator is signaling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 24 Checking the filter saturation ind icator Before the set oper ating time has run out, you can check what percentage of the time has elapsed. P r ess the On/Off button to turn the fan on. P r ess and hold the operating hours button : The grease filt er symbol lights up.
Cleaning and care 25 Stainless steel housing General The surfaces and control butt ons are susce ptible to scr atching and chipping. Observe the following cleaning instructions. Cle an all surfaces and control buttons using warm water and liquid dish soap only, applying the mixture with a sponge cloth.
Cleaning and care 26 Important for the controls Do not leave dirt and debris on the butt ons for any length of time. Otherwise they may become discol ored or damaged. Remove any dirt or debris imme diately . Obser ve the general cleaning instructions contained in this chapter .
Cleaning and care 27 T o remove a gr ease filter , release the locking clip. Then, open the filter to a 45° angle, unhook it, and remove it from the hood. Cleaning the grease filters by hand Cle an the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and dish soap.
Cleaning and care 28 After cleaning Aft er cleaning, leave the filters on an absorbent surface to dry . When r emoving the filt ers for cleaning, also clean off any accessible oil or fat buildup from the housing. Doing so will prevent a fir e hazard.

Installation 31 Distance between cooktop and ventilation hood (S) Pr ovided a larger distance is not given by the manufactur er of the cooktop, foll ow the minimum safety distances between a cooktop and the bottom of the hood. Please also observe the information contained in the "IMPORT ANT SAFETY INS TRUC TIONS" section.
Installation 32 Installation recommendations – When selecting an installation height, always tak e the user height into consideration. Users should have ample space to work comfortably on the cooktop and r each the ventilation hood controls with ease.
Installation 33 8 5 / 8 " 220 mm 8 5 / 8 " 220 mm dai3435aus Dr aw two int ersecting lines on the ceiling. F or vented mode: – Place a section of the exhaust ducting in the ceiling and feed it down thr ough the cr oss-sectional area as illustr ated.
Installation 34 Use a kni fe to r elease the four spacers and the two covers from the spacer frame supplied. Use the spacer fr ame as a drilling template. Place it on the ceiling with the arrows pointing forwar ds. Using the notches, align the spacer frame on the intersecting lines and make pencil marks for the drill holes.
Installation 35 L oosen the two t elescopic extension piece holders from the installation frame. The spac er frame can be installed between the chimney and the ceiling. This creat es a shadow which gives the illusion of a gap between the ceiling and the chimney .
Installation 36 Mou nt the spacer frame ont o the installation frame. Han g the hood on the four screws, making sure the contr ols are at the front.
Installation 37 Alig n the installation frame and secure it with the scr ews. The spacers, which were r emoved from the spacer fr ame at the start, can be used to align the hood vertically . Place the exhaust ducting ont o the exhaust socket. Co nnect the power cord.
Installation 38 Remo ve the grease filt ers from the hood. Remo ve the safety screw for the tower on the inside of the fr ame. P ush the t ower and the telescopic ext ension piece upwards and bend the retaining tabs outwar ds again to prevent the t ower and telescopic ext ension piece from slipping down again.
Installation 39 Fi t the four telescopic e xtension piece holders between the tower and the telescopic e xtension piece. The internal telescopic e xtension piece rests on the clamps. When the screws ar e tightened, the telescopic ext ension piece holders spread out and push the telescopic e xtension piece upwards.
Installation 40 Move the canopy to the r equired height by pressing the butt on and stop it by pr essing the or button. Scr ew on the limit switch opposit e the guide. Ho ld the chimney securely, bend back the retaining tabs and car efully lower it.
Installation 41 1x T20 M4x16 Inser t the safety screw on the inside. C ar efully remove the prot ective foil from the gr ease filters. Rein sert the grease filters.
Exhaust duct 42 WARNING: Danger of t oxic fumes. Gas cooking appliances release carbon monoxide that can be harmful or fatal if inhaled. T o reduce the risk of fir e and to pr operly e xhaust air , the exhaust gases extr acted by the hood should be vented outside of the building only .
Exhaust duct 43 Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust duct, w e recommend installing a condensate tr ap to collect and evaporat e any condensate which might accumulate. Condensate tr aps are available for exhaust ducts with a diamet er of 5" (125 mm) or 6" (150 mm).
