W arning and Safety instructions 5 The cooker hood can only be used by people with r educed physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they are supervised whilst using it, or have been shown how to use it in a safe way and r ecognise and understand the consequences of incorrect oper ation.
W arning and Safety instructions 6 Reliable and safe oper ation of this cooker hood can only be assured if it has been connect ed to the mains electricity supply . Before connecting the appliance t o the mains supply, ensure that the connection data on the data plate (voltage and fr equency) match the mains electricity supply .
W arning and Safety instructions 7 If the electrical connection cable is faulty it must only be replaced by a Miele authorised service technician to pr otect the user fr om danger . During installation, maintenance and r epair work, the appliance must be disconnected fr om the mains electricity supply .
W arning and Safety instructions 8 Using at the same time as other heating appliances that depend on the air from the room Warning - danger of t oxic fumes Great car e should be taken when using the cooker hood at the same time and in the same room or ar ea of the house as another heating appliance which depends on the air in the room.
W arning and Safety instructions 9 In order t o ensure safe oper ation, and to pr event gases given off by the heating appliances from being dr awn back into the r oom when the cooker hood and the heater ar e in operation simultaneously, an underpressur e in the room of 0.
W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use a naked flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the cooker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. There is a risk of fir e if the cooker hood is not cleaned as described in these oper ating instructions.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 Exhaust ducting must be of non-inflammable material. Suitable material is available fr om Miele specialist dealers or the Miele Spares Dept. The appliance must not be connected t o a chimney or flue which is in use.
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing material The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hood, the following options are available: Extraction mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filt er and directed outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o prevent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication facility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facility the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the cooker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for example you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode temporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manually select a different power level, or Manually switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated Con@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 P ower management The cooker hood features a power management system to help save energy . The fan power level is reduced and the lighting is switched off automatically . – If the Intensive setting is selected, the fan automatically switches to level 3 after 5 minutes.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 23 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in operation is st ored in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Charcoal filt er symbol lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 24 Activating and altering the charcoal filter operating hours count er Charcoal filt ers are needed for recir culation mode.
Energy saving tips 25 This cooker hood oper ates very efficiently and economically . The following will help you to save even more ener gy when using it: – Ensure that ther e is sufficient ventilation in the kitchen when cooking.
Cleaning and care 26 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susceptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All ext ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 27 Grease filter The re-usable metal gr ease filter in the appliance removes solid particles fr om the kitchen vapours (grease, dust, etc) preventing soiling of the cooker hood.
Cleaning and care 28 Cleaning the grease filter by hand Clean the filter with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Do not use "neat" washing up liquid. Unsuitable cleaning agents Unsuitable cleaning agents can cause damage to the surface of the filters if used regularly .
Cleaning and care 29 Replace the grease filt er , making sure that the locking clip is facing outwards. If the grease filt er is inadvertently replaced the wr ong way round, insert a small screwdriver blade int o the slit to disengage the clip.
Cleaning and care 30 When to change the charcoal filter Always replace the char coal filter when it no longer absorbs kitchen odours effectively . It should, however be replaced at least every 6 months. The charcoal filt er operating hours symbol will light up to r emind you to change the charcoal filt er regularly .
Installation 31 Before installation Before installation, it is important to r ead the information given on the following pages as well as the "Warning and Safety instructions" at the beginning of this booklet. Pr otective foil The housing components have prot ective foil around them to pr otect them from tr ansport damage.

Installation 33 a 1 exhaust connection for exhaust ducting 150 mm b 1 reducing collar for exhaust ducting 125 mm c 1 non-return flap for installation in the exhaust socket of the fan motor (not for r ecirculation mode). The non-return flap may already be fitt ed depending on model.

Installation 36 Installation recommendations – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the hood most often. They should have sufficient space to work comfortably at the hob, and be able to r each the hood controls with ease.
Connection for air e xtraction 37 If this cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room ther e is a risk in certain circumstances of t oxic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructions are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 38 Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting, we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to collect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur . Condensate tr aps for 125 mm or 150 mm ducting are available as optional accessories.
Connection for air e xtraction 39 Recirculation mode The silencer needs to be positioned between the exhaust socket and the directional unit . Ensur e there is adequate space for fitting it.
Electrical connection 40 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 41 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 function, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Please read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 42 Activating the hob While the cooker hood is searching for a signal, start activating the hob. More information about this can be found in the Operating instructions for the hob.
