FCC License A ship station license i s not required for any vess el traveling in U.S. wat ers which is less than 20 meters in length. Howev er, any vessel required to c arry an HF SSB radiotelephone or marine sa tellite terminal is requir ed to have a ship station license.
LCD DISPLAY 1. USA/CAN/INT CHANNEL ICONS 2. TRANSMIT (TX) ICON – Indicates radio is transmitting a signal. 3. VOX – Indicates when eVOX mode is active. 4. CHANNEL NUMBER – C hanges from 1~88a o n VHF Marine band (1~10 on WX band). 5. RECEIVE (RX) ICON – Indicates rad io is receiving a transmission.
CONTROLS 10. POWER/VOLUME KNOB – Turn clock wise to turn the po wer on and increase the volume level. Tur n counter-c lockwise to decrease the volume level and turn the power off. 11. PTT Button – Press and hold to tr ansmit voice com munication. Press twice quickly to send a call tone.
BATTERY INSTALLATION Your Nautico1 rad io operates with either 4 AA alk aline batteries or an opt ional NiMH battery pack. The belt clip should be remove d (see below) to ease installation or r emoval of the batteries.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY & CHARG ER OPTION Your Nautico1 is e quipped for using an optional rechar geable NiMH batt ery pack (not included) whi ch can be recharge d using an AC or DC charger (not included). Initial charge time is 24 hours with a ch arge time of 8-12 hours th ereafter.
TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING 1. To transmit a call, hold th e radio 2 to 3 inches from your mouth. 2. Press and hold the PTT button and speak in a normal voice into t he microphone . The TX icon will appea r continuously on th e LCD display while trans mitting.
MONITOR Pressing and hold ing the MONITOR button for 1 second will let y ou hear noise so you can adj ust the volume level of the radio when n ot receiving a signa l. This should be used to ch eck activity on you r current cha nnel be fore transmitting.
CHANNEL SELECTION: Press the MENU button once, and then the buttons to select one of the channels. To confirm the s election, press the PTT button or press MENU again to move to the next feature setting. TRANSMIT (TX) POWER LEVEL SELECTION The Nautico1 h as 2 transmit power level settings.
USA/CAN/INT CHANNEL SE LECTION The Nautico1 channel selection can be changed to follo w rules of USA, Canada, or internationa l rules. Press the MENU button until the cur rent channel icon (USA, CAN , INT) flashes. Select a different channe l list by pressing the buttons until the desir ed icon appears.
