1 I NTRODUCTION The Voyager PDF ™ series of scanners has taken the alr eady proven and reliab le Voyager series to new levels of abilit y. With its introduction, Metrologic’s Voyager PDF ™ series has added the ability to dec ode PDF, a 2D symbology that includes both normal and truncated versi on of this bar code type.

9 D ISCONNECTING THE P OWER L INK C ABLE Before removing the cable from the sca nner, Metrologic recomme nds that the power on the host system is off and the power supply has been disc onnected from the PowerLink cable. 17 A UDIBLE I NDICATORS When the Voyager PDF is in operation, it provides audib le feedback. These sounds indicate the status of the scanner . Eight settings are availa ble for the tone of the beep (normal, 6 alternate tones and n o tone). To change the tone, refer to Metrologic's programming guide, MLPN 00-02544 or Metr oSet2’s help files.
18 V ISUAL I NDICATO RS The MS9544 has three LED indic ators (blue, white and yell ow) located on the head of the scanner. The MS9524 has t wo LED indicators (blue and white) located on the head of the scanner. When the scanner is on, the flashi ng or stationary activity of the LEDs indicate s the status of the current scan and the scanner.

20 F AILURE M ODES One Razzberry Tone – On Po w er Up or During Scanning This indicates the scanner has experi enced motor or laser failure Three Beeps – On Pow er Up If the scanner beeps 3 times on power up then the non- volatile memory (NovRA M) that holds the scanner configuration has failed.
21 P ROGRAMMING M ODES The MS9524/44 Voyag er PDF Series has 3 modes of programming. ¾ Bar Codes Voyager PDF or Voyager PDF with CodeGate can be configured by scanning the bar codes located in Metrologic's programmi ng guides, MLPN 00-02544 and MLPN 00-02990 or MetroSet2’s help files.
22 P ROGRAMMING M ODES ( CONTINUED ) 4. During programming, the motor and laser turn off. YOU CANNOT SCAN A BAR CODE WHILE IN SERIAL PROGRAM MODE. 5. There is a 20 second windo w between commands. If a 20-second timeout occurs, the scanner will send a [nak] and you must start over.

24 U PGRADING THE F LASH ROM F IRMWARE The Meteor™ program is a function al component of Metrologic’s new line of Flash- based scanners. This program allo ws the user of a Metrologic scanner to quickly upgrade to a ne w or custom version of software.
25 L ABELS Each scanner has a label on the back of the unit. This label has the model number, date of manufacture, serial number, CE an d caution information. The following is an example of this label: M AINTENANCE Smudges and dirt can interfere with the proper scanni ng of a bar code.
