Hea vy objects could cause the tray to collapse and injure someon e. • Do not recline the front s eats when the seatback trays are in use.

Reinsert the head restraint to its normal posit ion. 7. F asten the lap portion of the centre-rear seat belt before a passeng er sits in the seat (page 2 -44).

Pull the strap an d lo wer the seatback forwar d. 3. Raise the seatback to the u pright position. Attempt to move the seatback forward and backward to ensure it is locked.
2-24 Esse ntia l Saf ety Eq uipme nt Seats Form No. 8R34-EE-02H T o retur n the seat to the upright positi on 1. Press and hold the k nob on t he back of the seatback and lift the seatback upright. Then release the k nob and continue pushin g the seatback to the upright position.
2-25 Esse ntial Safe ty Eq uipme nt Seats Form No. 8R34-EE-02H 4. Attach the support bar to the floor anchor . 5. Attach t he opposit e end of t he support bar to the catch on the seat bottom. Attempt to pull the seat towards the rear (liftgate) to make sure the support bar is securely lat ched.

2-36 Esse ntia l Saf ety Eq uipme nt Form No. 8R34-EE-02H Seat Belt Systems Seat belts help to decrease the poss ibility of se vere injury during accidents and sudden stops. Mazda recomm ends that the dri ver and all passengers always wear seat belts.
2-37 Esse ntial Safe ty Eq uipme nt Seat Belt Systems Form No. 8R34-EE-02H T wisted Seat Belts: T wisted seat belts are dangerous . In a collision, the full width of the belt isn ’ t available to absorb the impact. This puts more force on the bones beneath the belt, which cou ld break them or cause ot her ser ious inj ury or d eath.

(5-passenger model) All the rear seat belts can be easily con verted to the automatic locking mode, which must be d one to secure the child- restrain t system.

If your child-r estrain t system requires the use of a tether st rap, hook a nd tighten the tether s trap by follo wing the manuf acturer ’ s inst ructio ns.
