6 ENGLISH y RS-232C The RS-232C port is to be used in conjunction with an external controller to control the operation of the SR8400 by using an external device.
7 ENGLISH REMOTE CONTROLLER RC1400 NAMES AND FUNCTIONS z Infrared Transmitter and Learning Sensor This transmitter emits infrared light. Press the buttons while pointing the transmitter towards the infrared receiver window of the SR8400 or other AV equipment.
8 ENGLISH LCD INDICATORS Information about currently selected source and direct code names are displayed on the LCD. A Source Name indicator This displays the name of the selected source, such as DVD, television, or other AV equipment (up to five characters).

22 ENGLISH BASIC OPERATION (PLAY BACK) SELECTING AN INPUT SOURCE Before you can listen to any input media, you must first select the input source on the SR8400. Example : DVD To select DVD, simply press the DVD button on the front panel or press the DVD button on the remote.
23 ENGLISH ENGLISH USING THE SLEEP TIMER To program the SR8400 for automatic standby, press tne SLEEP button on the remote. Each press of the button will increase the time before shut down in the following sequence. The sleep time will be shown for a few seconds in the display on the front panel, and it will count down until the time has elapsed.
24 ENGLISH DTS-ES (Discrete 6.1, Matrix 6.1) DTS-ES adds the surround center channel audio to the DTS 5.1-channel format to improve the acoustic positioning and makes acoustic image movement more natural with the 6.

28 ENGLISH BASIC OPERATION (TUNER) LISTENING TO THE TUNER Frequency scan step for AM is selectable. Default setup is 10 kHz step, if your country ’ s standard is 9 kHz step, Press TUNER button on the remote more than 6 seconds. Scan step will change.

30 ENGLISH MULTI ROOM SYSTEM The Multi Room system is a function which allows you to listen to the same or a different source in a room other than the room in which the SR8400 is located. To use this function, a multi room remote unit and remote control signal receiver available from your Marantz dealer are necessary.

33 ENGLISH ENGLISH BASIC OPERATION USE MODE (Normal operation status) This remote control is preset with a total of 12 types of remote codes, including Marantz TV (television), DVD, VCR (VCR deck), DSS (satellite broadcasting tuner), TUNER, CD, CD-R, MD, TAPE (tape deck), AUX1, AUX2, and AMP (amplifier).
34 ENGLISH LEARN MODE Programming the (PLAY) and Other Control Buttons and Numeric Buttons This remote control is capable of learning and storing codes used by other remote controls that you already own.

38 ENGLISH SETTING THE MACRO TIMER Setting the macro timer enables the macro program to automatically turn the power for a device on or off or perform other operations. In the settings, you can select to execute the macro timer everyday or only once. Be sure to set the clock to the correct time before using the timer.
