2 Introduction Getting Started T urn unit on/off T o turn on/of f the unit, press and hold the LIGHT/POWER key for three seconds. Man Overboard waypoint Press the ZOOM IN and ZOO M OUT keys at the same time to set a Man Overboard waypoint. Y our system will automatically cr eate an active route back to the MOB wa y- point.
3 Introduction Inserting microSD cards Carefully slide the micr oSD card into the slot un til it clicks into place . T o r emove , carefully push in the card until it clicks out of place.
4 Basic Operation Pages This unit has two pages: Chart and Steer . Page menus The Steer and Chart pages have menus that can only be accessed when those pages are displa yed. Setup wizard The Setup wizard will appear when the unit is turned on for the rst time.
5 Basic Operation Working with menus There ar e several menu types used to make adjustments to options and settings , including scrollbars, on/o f eatures and dropdown menus. Scrollbars Select the scrollbar and press the key- pad left (decrease) or right (increase).
6 Basic Operation Entering text Some functions, like naming a waypoint, rout e or trail, will r equire you t o input text. T o input text: 1. Use the keypad to select the desired character and press ENTER . 2. Repeat Step 1 for each character . 3. When entry is completed, highlight OK and press ENTER .
7 Basic Operation Cursor The keypad mov es the cursor around the display , allowing you to scr oll the map and selec t map items. P ress MENU and select Return to vessel to clear the cursor . Goto cursor Allows y ou to navigate t o the cursor . 1. Move the cursor to a desired location and press MENU .
8 Basic Operation Pr ess the PWR/LIGHT key to access the Backlight dialog. Select Standby and press ENTER . Pr ess any key to r esume nor mal operation. Restore defaults Resets unit options and settings to defaults. NOTE : L eaving your unit in Standby mode when your boat is not is use will run down your battery .
9 Pages Steer Page The Steer page has a compass tha t shows your current track, the direction to your destination, and a digital data navigation panel . Y our location Current T rack Compass Direction to waypoint Navigation information Chart Page Consists of map that mov es in real-time as you move .
10 Pages To select overlay data: 1. From the chart page, press MENU . 2. Select Overlay data and press ENTER . 3. Select Congure and press ENTER . 4. Press Menu and select Add . Press ENTER . 5. Select a category from the Congure Items to show screen.
11 Pages Customizing Overlay Data Access the Overlay Da ta conguration menu to make adjustments to the size and/or location of overlay da ta on the display .
12 Chart Chart Menu Pr ess Menu from any Chart pages to open the Chart menu. New Waypoint Creates a w aypoint at y our current location or at the cursor position.
13 Chart cursor is not displayed onscr een, waypoints will be saved at y our cur rent position. W aypoints, Routes, T rails Used to crea te, edit, na vigate and delete way- points, r outes and trails. Pr ess the keypad left/right to toggle between waypoint, r outes and trails tabs.
14 Chart New Creates a new w aypoint at the cursor or vessel position. Y ou can also select waypoint name , icon and latitude/longitude from the new waypoint menu. Show Displays the selected waypoint on the map. Goto Allows y ou to navigate t o a waypoint.
15 Chart T o create a route from waypoint list: 1. Press MENU from the Routes screen. 2. Select New ... and press ENTER . 3. Press the keypad down to select the Leg name eld and press ENTER . 4. Press Menu , select Add to End and press ENTER . 5. Highlight W aypoint from list and press ENTER .
16 Chart 2. Select Start and press ENTER . 3. Select Forward or Reverse and press ENTER . 4. Press MENU and select Return to Chart. Press ENTER . Creating a route using points from chart: 1. Repeat Steps 1-4 from the instructions for Creating a route from waypoint list.
17 Chart T o acc ess the Edit or New Route menu, select Edit or New on the Routes menu and press ENTER . T o nalize changes on the E dit or New R oute menus, highlight the Accept button and pr ess EN- TER .
18 Chart T rails Screen Used to crea te, edit, na vigate and delete trails. Use the keypad to highlight the T rails tab to access the T rails screen. Creating trails When creating a trail y ou can customize the trail name and color from the New T rail.
19 Chart Edit and New Trail menus Allows y ou to edit/creat e trails, select trails names, trail color , trail display and the tr ail being recorded. Y ou can also convert a trail into a route fr om the Edit T rail menu. Navigating a trail A trail must be sav ed as a route bef ore it can be navigated .
20 Chart Delete and Delete All Delete is used to remo ve individual trails. Delete All remov es all trails. Orientation Allows y ou to select Nor th Up or Course Over Ground (C OG) as the map orientation. Overlay Data Allows y ou to select data (course over g round, et c) to be displayed on t op of the Char t screen.
21 Settings Settings Menu Accesses t o installation and conguration settings for your unit . System Adjusts unit settings like language, mut e audio and advanced mode.
22 Settings Set Language Selects the language used on menus and text boxes . Mute Audio T urns on/o unit audio, like key beeps, alarm sounds, etc . Time Used to set local time, and time and date formats f or your unit. GPS Status Monitors the location of satellites in view and the quality of the unit ’ s satellite lock-on.
23 Settings Navigation Controls A rrival Radius and O Course distance settings and is used to turn on/o W AAS/MSAS/ EGNOS. Saving Screenshots Y ou can save screenshots to a micr oSD card by in- serting a microSD card into the card slot and pr ess- ing Po wer and then Zoom (+).
24 Settings Bearings Controls whether bearing will be calculated using T rue Nor th or Magnetic North. M agnetic North should be used when navigating with a compass course or heading; otherwise use the default set- ting, T rue Nor th. Magnetic V ariation Controls whether mag netic variation will be calcu- lated using Aut omatic or Manual settings.
25 Settings COG Extension A line extending from the front of the current position icon that is used to estimate distance and time of arrival. Grid Lines Displays base values f or latitude and longitude, making it easier to get a general idea of your location on the latitude/ longitude scale.
26 Settings Alarms Arrival sounds alarm when you are within a selected distance of your destination (Advanced Mode only) Off Course sounds alarm when course exceeds a selected off-course threshold (Ad.
27 Settings NMEA 0183 Output Allows users to select NMEA 0183 sentences the unit will use when connected to a VHF radio or other NMEA 0183 device. Simulator Simulates GPS activity .
