GENERAL GUIDELINES • Select the appropriate size cables per the “Output Cable Guidelines” in Table A.1 . Excessive voltage drops caused by undersized welding cables and poor connections often result in unsatisfactory welding performance.
A-14 INST ALLA TION POWER WAVE® i400 A-14 General Guidelines for Voltage Sense Leads Sense leads should be attached as close to the weld as practical, and out of the weld cur rent path when possible. In extremely sensitive applications it may be necessary to route cables that contain the sense leads away from the electrode and work welding cables.
If a remo te work voltage sense lead is used, it must be enabled through the Fanuc Teach Pendant or with the Weld Manager Utility (includ- ed on the Power Wave Utilities and Service Navigator CD’s or available at www.

B-4 OPERA TION B-4 CASE FRONT CONTROL DESCRIPTION 1. Machine Status Indicator: A two color LED that indicates system errors. The POWER WAVE® i400 is equipped with two indicators. One is for the inverter power source, while the other indicates the status of the feeder control system.
B-5 OPERA TION B-5 2 . THERMAL INDICATOR (THERMAL OVERLOAD): A yellow light that comes on when an over temperature sit- uation occurs. Output is disabled and the fan continues to run, until the machine cools down. When cool, the light goes out and output is enabled.

As the wire feed speed is adjusted, the power source adjusts the waveform parameters to maintain good welding char- acteristics. The Power Wave i400 can also be config- ured to use amperage as the dominant control para- meter.
