T ur ning Y our Phone On and Of f T ur ning Y our Phone On T o t ur n your phone on: 䊳 Press and hold f or approximately tw o seconds. Once your phone is on, it ma y display “Searc hing f or Ser vice, ” whic h indicates that your phone is sear ching f or a signal.
Using Y our Phone ’ s Bat t ery and Char g er Bat t ery Capacity Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (LiIon) batter y . It allows you to r echarg e your batter y bef ore it is fully drained. The batter y pr ovides approximately 2.
Char ging the Bat tery Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone’ s LiIon batter y is recharg ea b le and should be charg ed as soon as possible so you can begin using y our phone.

Dialing Options When you enter n umber s in standby mode, you will see a v ar iety of dialing options appear as softkeys on the phone’ s display screen.
Answ er ing Calls T o answ er an incoming call: 1. Make sure y our phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to v oicemail.) 2. Press to answer an incoming call. (Depending on your phone’ s settings, you ma y also answ er incoming calls by opening the phone or by pressing any n umber ke y .
Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not ans wer ed, the Missed Call log is display ed on your screen. T o displa y the Missed Call entry from the notification scr een: 䊳 Highlight the entr y and press . (T o dial the phone number , press .
End-of-Call Options After receiving a call from or making a call to a phone n umber that is not in your Phone Book, the phone n umber and the duration of the call are displa yed. The r ight softkey displays the Save option. Select this option if you wish to add the ne w number to y our Phone Book.
Finding a Phone Number Y ou can searc h Phone Book entr ies f or phone number s that contain a specific string of number s. T o find a phone number: 1. Enter one or more digits in standby mode. (The more numbers you enter , the more specific the sear ch becomes.
Dialing and Sa ving Phone Numbers With P auses Y ou can dial or sav e phone numbers with pauses for use with automated systems, such as v oicemail or credit card billing numbers. There ar e two types of pauses av ailable on y our phone: 䢇 Hard Pause sends the ne xt set of number s when you pr ess the left softkey button.
Dialing F r om the Phone Book T o dial dir ectly from a Phone Book entry: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Phone Book ( ) and Find Name () . 3. Highlight the entr y you want to call and pr ess to dial the entr y’ s default phone number .

Sound Set tings Ring er T ypes Ring er types help you identify incoming calls and messag es. Y ou can assign ringer types to individual phone book entries, types of calls, and types of messages. 䢇 Preprogrammed Ringers include a variety of standard ringer types and familiar m usic.
Selecting Ring er T ypes for Messag es T o select a r inger type f or messages: 1. Press Menu (left Softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Sounds () . 4. Select Ringers () . 5. Select Messages () . 6. Select V oicemail ( ) or Page/T ext ( ).
A djusting the Phone ’ s V olume Set tings Y ou can adjust y our phone’ s volume settings to suit y our needs and your en vironment. T o adjust the r inger , k ey beep, ear piece, or pow er on/off v olume: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Silence All There ma y be times when you need to silence y our phone entirely . The phone’ s Silence All option allows y ou to mute all sounds without turning your phone off. T o activ ate Silence All: 䊳 W ith the phone open, press and hold the v olume key down in standby mode.
Changing the Bac klight Time Length The backlight setting lets y ou select how long the displa y screen and keypad are backlit after an y ke y pr ess is made. T o c hange the bac klight setting: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2.
Changing the Contr ast Y ou can adjust y our screen’ s contrast (brightness) to suit your surroundings. T o adjust the displa y ’ s contr ast: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Display () . 4. Select Contrast () .
Changing the Cloc k Displa y Choose whether you w ant your phone’ s clock to displa y in analog mode, digital mode, or with time and date. T o c hange the cloc k’ s appearance on the standb y scr een: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Location Set tings Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone is equipped with a Location f eature f or use in connection with location-based ser vices that ma y be available in the future. The Location f eature allows the netw ork to detect y our position. T ur ning Location off will hide your location from ev er yone e xcept 911.
Messaging Set tings Staying connected to y our fr iends and famil y has ne v er been easier . W ith your phone’ s advanced messaging capabilities, you can send and receiv e many diff erent kinds of te xt messa g es without placing a voice call. (For mor e information, see “Understanding Messa ging” on page 101.
Deleting Old Messag es Y ou can delete messages that y ou’ ve alr eady r ead whenever y ou like, or you can ha ve y our phone delete them automatically f or you. T o aut omatically delete r ead messages: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Managing Canned Messag es Y our phone is pre-set with tw enty canned messa g es to help make sending te xt messa g es faster and easier . These messa g es, such as “Where ar e you?, ” “Let’ s get lunc h, ” and “Meet me at, ” can be customized or deleted to suit your needs.
Air plane Mode Airplane Mode allows y ou to use many of y our phone’ s f eatures, suc h as Games, Notepad, V oice Memos, etc., when you are in an airplane or in any other ar ea where making or r eceiving calls or data is prohibited. When your phone is in Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receiv e any calls or access online inf or mation.
T o t ur n TT Y Mode on or of f: 1. From standby mode, press . (An inf or mational messag e displays.) 2. Press . 2. Select TTY On and press to tur n TTY mode on.
Phone Set up Options Shor tcut Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a shortcut ke y to a fa vorite or often-used function. Pressing the navigation key to the left in standby mode will launch y our per sonall y designated shor tcut. T o assign y our shortcut k ey: 1.

Using Y our Phone ’ s Loc k Feat ur e Loc king Y our Phone When your phone is loc ked, you can onl y receive incoming calls or make calls to 911, Sprint PCS Customer Solutions, or special numbers. (See “Using Special Number s” on page 49.) T o loc k your phone: 1.
Using Special Numbers Special numbers are impor tant numbers that you hav e designated as being “alwa ys available. ” Y ou can call and receiv e calls from special numbers e v en if your phone is loc ked. Y ou can sav e up to ten special numbers in addition to your Phone Book entries (the same number may be in both directories).

Understanding Roaming Recognizing the Roaming Icon on the Displa y Scr een Y our phone’ s display screen alwa ys lets you know when y ou’ re off the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Any time y ou are roaming, the phone displays the r oaming icon ( ) .

Contr olling Roaming Charg es Using Call Guar d Y our phone has tw o ways of alerting you when y ou are roaming off the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network: the onscr een roaming icon and Call Guard. Call Guard makes it easy to manage y our roaming charg es by requiring an extr a step bef ore y ou can place or answ er a roaming call.

A dding a New Phone Book Entry Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone can stor e up to 200 Phone Book entries. Phone Book entries can store up to a total of 5 phone numbers, and each entr y’ s name can contain sixteen char acter s. T o add a new entry: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Finding Phone Book Entr ies There ar e several w ays to displa y your Phone Book entries: by name, by speed dial number , by group, and by voice dial tags. Follo w the steps outlined in the sections below to displa y entr ies from the Phone Book menu.

Using Exper t Mode Using the Expert Mode setting for y our per sonal v oicemail box helps you na vigate through the voicemail system mor e quickl y by shortening the voice prompts y ou hear at each lev el.
V oicemail-t o-V oicemail Messag e Record and send a v oice message to other Sprint PCS V oicemail users. 1. From the main v oicemail menu, press to send a messa g e. 2. Follo w the voice prompts to enter the phone n umber . 3. Follo w the voice prompts to r ecord and send y our voice message.
Continue Recor ding When leaving a v oice message, y ou can choose to continue r ecording even after y ou’ ve stopped. 䊳 Bef ore pressing to indicate that y ou are satisfied with the message y ou recor ded, press to continue recor ding.
