16 Getting Started Instal ling th e SIM Ca rd When you subscri be to a cellula r network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM Card loaded with your subscription detai ls, such as your PIN, any option al services availab le and many others.

21 General Functions Making a Call 1. Make sure your phone is power ed on. 2. Enter a phone numbe r including the area code. T o edit a number on the display screen, simply press the key to erase one digit at a time. ] Press and hold the key to erase the entire numbe r .
General Functions 22 Adjus ting the V olume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiec e volume, use the side keys of the phone. In idle mode, you can adjust the ring volu me using the side keys. Answe ring a C all When you receive a call, the phone rings and an animated Ring appears on the screen.
General Functions 23 Enteri ng T ext Y ou can enter alphan umeric charact ers by using the phone’ s keyp ad. For example, storing names in the Addres s Book, writing a message , or creati ng scheduling event s in the calenda r all require entering text.
General Functions 24 Using the 123 (Numb ers) Mode The 123 Mode enables you to enter number s in a text message (a telephon e number , for example ) more quickly . Using the Symbo l Mode The Symbol Mode enab les you to enter various symbols or special characte rs.
General Functions 25 Using the T9 Mode The T9 predictiv e text input mode allows you to enter words easil y with a minimu m number of key presses. As you press each key , the phone begins to displa y the characters that it thinks you are typing base d on a built-in diction ary .

28 In-Call Menu Y our phone prov ides a number of control functio ns that you can use during a call. T o access these functions during a call, press the right soft key [ Opti ons ].
In-Call Menu 29 Muting the Micro phone Y ou can mute the microph one during a call by pressin g the left soft key [ Mute ]. The handset can be unmuted by pressin g the left soft key [ Unmute ]. When the handset is muted, the caller canno t hear you, but you can still hear the caller .
