6 2. Preparations for IP Camera Setup This chapter provides information about system requirements for IP Camera operation, power connection , Ethernet connection and w ays to access to the camera.
7 Ethernet Cable Connection Use of Category 5 Etherne t cable is recommended for net work connection; to have best transmission quality, cable length shall not exceed 100 meters. Connect one end o f the Ethernet cable to t he RJ45 c onnector of the IP Camera , and the other end of the cable to the network switch or PC.
8 3. Accessing Camera For initial access t o the IP Camera, users can search the came ra through the installer program: DeviceSearch.exe, w hich ca n be found in “Device Search” folder in the supplied CD. Device Search Software Setup Step 1: Double click on the p rogram Device Search.
9 Device Search Step 3: Click “De vice Se arch” again, and all the f inding IP devices will be listed in the page, as shown in the figure belo w. The IP Camera’s default IP address is: 192.168.0.250 . Step 4: Double click or right click an d select “Brow se” to a ccess the camera directly via web browser.
10 The default login ID and password a re: Login ID Password root NOTE: ID and password are case sensitive. NOTE: It is strongly ad vised that administrator’s pass word b e altered for the security concerns. Refer to sect ion 5.3.2 Security for further details.
11 Step 3: Click “OK” on th e Note of setting cha nge. W ait for o ne minute to re-search the IP Camera. Step 4: Click th e “Device Search” button to search all the devices. T hen select the IP Ca mera with the co rrect MAC address. Dou ble click on the IP Camera, and the lo gin w indow will come o ut.
12 Using recording softw are The product software CD also contains recording software-IP Cam Secure, allowing simultaneous m onitoring and video recording fo r multiple Network Cameras . Please install the recording software; then launch the program to add the Network Camera to the Channel list .
13 Installing DC Viewer Softw ar e Online For the initial acce ss to the IP Camera, a client program, DC V iew er, will b e automatically installed to your PC when connecting to the IP Camera.
14 Once login to the IP Camera, users will see the Home page as show n below: NOTE: The “talk” button b elow t he screen only displays in Box Camera and Vandal Proof IP Dome.
15 4. Configuration & Operatio n The IP Camera is provided with a user-friend ly browser-based configuration interface, and a free bundled IP CamSecure Lite for record and playback video. In this chapter, information about main page in troduction, system re lated settings and camera settings will be described in detail.

Streaming setting The admin istrator can m odify video resolution and ro tate type an d select au dio compression mode in this page.

Digital Zoom Control In the fu ll screen mode, users c an implemen t digital PTZ by rota ting the mouse wheel (for zoom in/out), and dra g the mouse into any direction.
18 Snapshot button Press the button, and the JPEG snapshot s will automatically be saved in the appointed place. The defa ult place of saving snapshots is: C:. To change the storage location, please ref er to section 5.3.11 File Location for further details.

20 4.3.1 Host Name an d S y stem Tim e Setting Press the f irst categor y: <System> in the lef t column; the page is shown as below. Host Name The name is for camera identification.
21 Manual The A dministrator c a n set video date, t ime and d a y manua lly. Entry fo rmat should be identical with that shown next to the enter fields. Sync with NTP server Network T ime Protocol (NTP ) is an alternate way to synchronize your came ra’s clock with a NTP server.
22 NOTE: The following characte rs are valid: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, !#$%&’-.@^_~. A dd user Type the n ew user's name and password and click <Ad d> to add the new user. Both user name a nd passw o rd can be u p to 1 6 characters. The new user will b e displayed in the u ser n ame list.

24 4.3.3 Netw ork Click <Network> in the left column, and the page will display as sh own below. Users can ch oose to c o nnect to the IP Camera w ith fixed or dynamic (DHCP) IP address. The I P Camera a lso provi des PPPoE sup port f or us e rs wh o connect to the network via PPP over Etherne t (PPPoE).
25 Use fixed IP address To setup static IP address, select “ Use fixed I P address ” and move th e cursor to the IP address blank (as indicated below) and in sert the new IP a ddress, e x. 192.168.7.123; then go to the Default g a teway (ex p lained latter) blank and change the setting, e x.
26 • Default gateway This is the gateway used to forward frames t o destinations in different subnet. Invalid gateway setting will f ail the transm ission to destinations in different subnet. • Primary DNS Primary DNS is the primary d omain n ame server t hat t ranslates hostnames into IP addresses.
27 UPnP Setting • Enable UPnP W hen t he UPnP is enable, whenever the IP C a mera is presented to the LAN, the icon of the connected IP Came ras will appe ar in My Ne twork Pla ces to allow for direct access as sh own below.
28 NOTE: To enable this fun ction, please make sure the UPnP component is installed on your compute r . Please refer to Appendix D: Install UPnP co m ponents f or UPnP component installation procedure.
29 4.3.4 DDNS Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) allows a ho st name to be con stantly synchronized with a dynamic IP add ress. In other words, it allows those using a dynamic IP a ddress to be associated to a stat ic doma in name so oth ers can connect to it by name.
30 Password/Ke y Enter the password or key required by the DDNS p rovider for authentication. 4.3.5 Mail The Administrator can send an e-mail v ia Sim ple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) when m otion is detected. SMTP is a protocol for sending e-mail m essages between servers.
31 4.3.6 FTP The Administrat or can set as sending alarm messa ge to a specific File Transfer Protocol (FT P) site when motion is detected. Users can assign alarm message to up to two FTP sites. Th e FTP setting p age is shown below. Enter t he FTP details, which include server, server p ort, user n ame, password a nd remot e folder, in the fields.
32 4.3.7 Application (E xcluding C ompact IP Do me) The IP Camera (Bo x Cam era and V andal Proof Dome) equips one alarm input and one relay output for cooperating w ith alarm sy stem to catch events’ images. Refer to a larm pin definition b elow to connect alarm d evices to the IP Cam era if needed.
33 A larm Output Define alarm output s ignal “h igh” or “low” as the normal alarm output status according to the current alarm a pplication. Triggered A ction (Mu lti-option) The Administrator can specify alarm actions tha t will take w h en the alarm is triggered.
34 • Record Stream to SD Card Select the item, and the alarm-triggered recording will be saved into your Micro SD card. NOTE: Please ma ke sure the lo cal r e cording (with Micro S D/ SDHC card) is activated so that this funct ion can be implemented.
35 • Upload Image by E-Mail Select this item , and the Administrator can a ssign an e-mail address and configure various parameters as show n in the figure b elow . W hen the alarm is trig gered , event images w ill b e sent t o t he appointed e-mail address.

37 4.3.8 Motion Detec tion Motion Detection function allows detecting suspicious motion and triggering alarms when motion volum e in the detecte d area reaches/exceeds the determined sensitivity threshold value. In the Moti o n Detecti o n setting page, there is a frame ( Motion Detection Window ) displayed on the Liv e View P ane.
38 If Motion Detection function i s activated, the pop-off window (Motio n) with indication of motion will be shown. W hen m otion is detected, the signals wi ll be displayed on the Motion window as shown below.
39 • Sensitivity level [1-100]: The default level is 80, which mean s i f 20% or more sampling pix els are detected differently, system will de tect motion. The b igger th e value, th e more sensitive it is. Mean while, when the value is bigger, the red horizontal line in the motio n indication window will be lower accordingly.
40 • Upload Image by E-Mail Select this item, and the Administrator can assign an e-mail address and configure various parameters as shown in th e f igure b elow . W hen motion is detected, event images will be sent to the appointed e-mail address. NOTE: Make sure SMTP o r FTP configuration has b e en completed.
41 4.3.9 Storage Mana gement Users can implement local record ing to the Micro SD/SDHC card. NOTE: Please fo rmat the Micro SD/SDHC card first before reco rding starts. Device information W hen users insert the Micro SD/SDHC ca rd, the card information such as the memory capacity and status will be sh own at Device Information section.
42 Recording List Each video f ile on t he Micro SD/SDHC card will be listed in the Recording list as shown below. • Remove T o remove a file, select the file first, and then press the “Remove” button. • Sort: Press the “Sort” b utton, and t h e files in the R ecording list will be listed in name and date order .
43 4.3.10 Recordi ng In the Recording setting page, users can specify the recording schedule t h at fits the present surveillance requirem ent. A cti vating Micro SD/SDHC Card Recording Two types o f schedule mode are offered: Always an d Time Fra me setting.
44 4.3.11 File Location Users can specify a storage location for the snapshots and live video recording. The d efault setting is: C:. Once confirm the setting, press “Sa ve,” and all the snapshots and recording will be saved in the designate location.
45 4.3.12 Iris Adjustment (E xcluding Com pact IP Do me) For users who use Auto-iris lens, when it is required to implement iris adjustment, please refer to the I ris adjustment procedure in the setting page to adjust iris.
46 4.3.13 View Log File Click on the link to view the system log f ile. The content of the file provides useful information about configuration and connections after system boot-up.
47 4.3.14 View Us er Information The Administrat or can view each ad ded user’s login inform ation and privileges (see 4.3.2 Security ). View User Login Information All the users in the network will be listed in th e “User information” zone, as shown below.
48 View User Privilege Press “get user privacy” down th e pa ge, and the Administrator can view ea ch user’s privileges. As the figure above shows: User: 1:1:0:1 1:1:0:1= I/O access : Came ra control : Talk : Listen (see 4.3.2 Security ) Therefore, it denotes the user is gr anted p rivileges of I/O access, Camera control and Listen.

50 4.3.16 Factor y Default The f actory d efault setting page is shown a s belo w. Follow the instructions to reset the IP Camera to facto ry default setting if needed. Set Default Click on the “Set Def ault” b utton to recall the factory default settings.
51 4.3.17 Softwa re Version The current software version is displayed in the software version page, which is shown as the figure below..
52 4.3.18 Softwa re Upgrade Software upgrade can be carried ou t in the “So f tware Upgrade” page, as sh o wn below. NOTE: Make su re the u pgrade software file is available before carrying out software upgrade.
53 Step 1: Click “Browse” and select the binary file to be uploaded, e x. Userland.jffs2. NOTE: Do not chan ge the upgrade file name, or the system will fa il to find the file. Step 2: Pull down the upgrade binary file list and select the file you want to upgrade; in this case, select “userland.

Step 5: Click “Control Panel”, and then double click “Add or Remove Programs.” In the “Cu rren tly insta ll p rograms” list, sele ct “DCViewer” and click the button “Remove” to uninstall the existing DC Viewer.
55 4.3.19 Maintenance Users ca n export configuration files to a specified location and retrieve data by uploading an existing configuration file to the IP Ca mera. Export Users can save the sy stem settings by ex p orting the configuration file (.bin) to a specified location for futu re use.
56 Upload To copy an existing configuration file to the IP Camera, please f irst click on “Browse” to select the configuration file, a nd then press the “Upload” button for uploading.

58 To rotate the image, users can select “Flip”, f or instance. T hen the displayed image will be reversed as sh own below. The following is description s for different video rotate type. • Flip If select <Flip>, the image will be rotated vertically.
59 4.4.2 Video Compres sion Users can select a proper MJPEG/H.264 compression mode in the video compression page (see the figure below), depending on the application. Users can also de cide whether to dis p lay comp ression information on the Home page.
60 CBR Mode Setting The CBR (Constan t Bit Rate) mo de could be the preferred bit rage mode if the bandwidth available is limite d. It is important to take account of im a ge quality while choosing to u se CBR mode.
61 4.4.3 Video OCX Pro tocol In the Vid eo O CX protocol setting page, users can select RTP over UDP, RTP over TCP, RTSP over HTTP or MJPEG over HT TP, for streaming media over the network. In the case of multicas t networking, users can select the Multica st mode.
62 4.4.4 Video Frame Sk ip Video f rame skipp ing is f or saving bandwidth if necessary. The set ting page is shown as below. Video Frame Skip options include: • No skipping, default • Frame skipp.
63 4.4.5 Video Mask There are up to f ive vi deo masks can be set by users. A cti ve Mask Function • Add a Mask Check a Video Mask checkbox, and a red frame will come out in the Live Video pane at the right side. Use the mouse to drag and drop t o adjust the mask’s size and pla ce it on the target zone.

66 4.5 Camera Settings The f igure below is the camera configuration page. Details of each parameter setting are described in the following subse ctions.
67 4.5.1 Exposure Set ting The Exposure pull-do wn menu is shown as follows: The ex p osure is the amount of light receiv ed by the image sensor a n d is determined by t he width of lens dia phragm opening, the amount of exposure by the se n sor (shu tter speed) and other e xposure parameters.
68 Fixed Shutter Mode In this mode, fixed shutter speed could be selected f rom the dropdown menu. The shutter speed range is from 1/10000 to 1 se c. with 19 options. Users could select suitable shutter speed a ccording to the environmental illumination.
69 Manual Mode In this mode, users can change the W hite Balance value m anually . Users can select a n umber between 0 ~127 of “Rgain/ Bgain” item to gain the red/ b lue illuminant on the Live Video Pane. Press <SET> to confirm the new setting.
