Cha pter 1 Intr oduction W elcome to professional color printing from Kyocera Mita. The FS-C8026N Ecosys Color Printer lets you print t op quality documents in color or mon ochrome at 26 pages per minute in A4 paper size, and at 13 pages per minute in B4 and A3 paper sizes.
1.1 Features 1-2 1.1 Features This section outlines the major printer features of the FS-C8026N Ecosys color Page Printer . 1.1.1 General Components with an ultra-long product life The main printer components su ch as the imaging drum, development un its, and fuser unit have an ultra-long product life.
1.1 Features 1-3 T w o expansion slots for hardware interfaces The printer is equipped with two expansion slot s for plugging in an optional netw ork interface card and a hard disk (HD-10). Standard bidirectional paralle l interface The bidirectional parallel interface ensures high-speed data transfer between the host computer and printer .
1.1 Features 1-4 PDF direct print Allows you to send a selected PDF file directly to the printer without invo king a printer driver . Account management sy stem This printer comes equipped with an account management system function which records the number of pages printed by each department.
1.2 Parts and Functio ns 1-5 1.2 Parts and Functions This section provides explanations and illustration s for you to determine the parts and their functions. Tr y to be familiar with the names and fu nctions of these parts for correct use and optimal performance.

Chapter 2 Handling P aper The printer can use a variety of media in various sizes. However, any m edia you will choose to use with the printer must be in a ccordance with the guidelines and specifications in this chapter .
2.1 General 2-2 2.1 General Y our Ecosys Color printer is designed for hig h-grade bond (copy) paper , like the type widely used for ordinary xerographic copiers. It will also su pport other types of paper as long as they meet the standards explained in this chapter .
2.1 General 2-3 2.1.3 Minimum and maximum paper sizes The minimum and maximum paper sizes are as follows. For non standard paper such as cut-sheet, the MP (multi-purpose) tray must be used. Figure 2-1 Direction of grain Long grain Pulp content 80 % or more † 135 to 200 g/m² paper should be A4 or Letter size and fed laterally.
2.2 Selecting the Righ t Paper 2-4 2.2 Selecting the Right Paper This section describes the major considerations for selecting the right printing paper . 2.2.1 Guidelines Paper conditions Do not use paper with folded edges, curls, warps, smud ges, tears, or embossing.
2.2 Selecting the Right Paper 2-5 2.2.2 Paper properties Smoothness Paper should have a smooth, uncoated surface. Paper with a rough or sandy surface can cause gaps in printouts. However , paper with surfaces that are too smooth may cause multiple-sheet feed ing and fogging prob lems (fogging is a gray background effect).
2.2 Selecting the Righ t Paper 2-6 2.2.3 Other properties of paper Porosity The density of paper struct ure, which indicates the compactness of the fiber bonding. It is also the characteristic that allows air to pass through paper (i.e., air permeability).
2.3 Loading Paper 2-7 2.3 Loading Paper The following explains the procedure for loading paper in the paper feed cassette and the MP tray . Caution Fan the paper , then tap it on a level surface. This avoid med ia jams or skewed printing. Figure 2-2 2.
2.3 Loading Paper 2-8 2.3.2 Loading paper into the MP (Multi-Purpose) tray Perform the following procedure to lo ad paper into the MP tray . 1 1 1 1 Open the MP tray located on the right side of the printer . Adjust the length of the tray according to the side of paper you w ill use.
2.4 Special Paper 2-9 2.4 Special Paper Besides plain paper , this printer can use the following types of special paper: Note When printing on A4 size paper with thickness above 200g/m 2 , feed the paper sideways from the MP tray . Landscape feed ing can cause paper jam s.
2.4 Special Paper 2-10 When the label paper has extra ma rgin a round the label’ s outside edges that correspo nd to the margins of the printabl e area, do not remove the extra top sheet from the carrier sheet until printing is finished.
2.4 Special Paper 2-1 1 Envelopes Envelopes must b e fed manually . Since the composition of an envelope is more comp lex than that of ordinary paper , it is not always possible to ensure consistent printing quality over the entire envelope surface. Normally , envelop es have a diagonal grain direction.
2.4 Special Paper 2-12.
