4 Chapter 1 Attaching the Wrist Strap 1 Thread the short loop of the strap through the wrist s trap p ost. 2 Thread the lo ng end of the strap through the short loop . Pull until secure. Attaching the Lens Cap 1 Thread the lens cap string through th e loop in the w rist strap as sh own.
5 Chapter 1 Loading the Batteries KODAK Digital Camera Batt eries (2) or a KODAK CRV3 Lithium Battery are included with your camera.* 1 Tu r n off the camera. 2 On th e bottom of the cam era, slid e the batte ry door and lif t to open. 3 Insert the two KODAK Digi tal Camera Batteries or the KODAK CRV3 battery , as shown.
6 Chapter 1 Turning the Camera On and Off 1 Slide t he On/Off switch to th e On po sition . The ready light blinks green while the camera performs a self-check, then glows steady green when the camera is rea dy to take pictures. 2 T o turn o ff the c amera, sl ide th e On/Off switch to the Off positi on.
7 Chapter 1 Select ing a Langua ge Y ou can display menus and screen messages in different languag es. The Language screen is automatical ly displayed the first time you turn on the camera. If this is the first time the camera has been turned on, go to step 4.
8 Chapter 1 Setting the Clock The Date & Time screen appears the first time you turn on the camera or if the batter y is removed for an e xtended time. If this is the first time th e camer a has been turned on, go to step 4. T o set the d ate and time afte r that: 1 In Capture or Revi ew mode, press the Menu butto n.
9 Chapter 1 Checking Camera Status T o check the current camera settings, press the down arrow in Capture mode or the flash butto n any time: Camera Status Icons Battery Status If no battery icon appears on the LCD, the battery is fully charged. *A blin king ba ttery icon me ans the batter y is too we ak to pow er the camera.
10 Chapter 1 Inserting an MMC/SD Card Optional MMC/SD cards provide removable, reusable storage fo r pictures. CAUTION: The card can only be inse rted one way; forcing it may damage the camera or card. Do not inse rt or remove a card when the g reen ready light is blinking; it may damage your pic tures, card, or camera.
11 Chapter 1 Choosing Internal Memory or MMC/SD Card The camera offers two options for storing pictures: Internal Memory — store up to 14 pictures (at Be st quality) in the 16 MB inter nal m emory . MMC/SD Card — store as man y pictures as you like, d epending on the size of the c ard.
12 Chapter 1 Camera Modes The camera has four modes: Capture, Review , Share, and Setup . Y o u can always tell which mode the camera is in: Capt ure — the LCD i s blank, no image is displaye d. Press the down arrow to display th e status bar and mode icon.
13 2 T aking Pictur es—Captur e Mode Take a Picture A nytime The camera is in Capture mode when you turn it on. Press the Shutter button to take a pictur e.
14 Chapter 2 Liveview — Using the LCD to Frame Your Subject When you turn on Livevie w , the LC D displays a live image of what the lens sees. Look at the LCD to frame your picture. 1 Make sure the camera is in Capture mode ( on the LCD). 2 Press the OK bu tton to turn on Li veview .
15 Chapter 2 Quickview — Reviewing the Picture Just Taken After you take a pic ture, the LCD displays a Quickvi ew of that pict ure for 5 seconds. While the picture is displaye d, you can: m Review It. I f you take no action, the pict ure is saved. m Delete it.
16 Chapter 2 Using the Fl ash Use the flash when you ta ke pictures ou tdoors in heavy shadow s, at night, or indoors. Flash is e ffective at the d istances of 1 .6 to 9.8 feet (0.5 to 3 m). Press the button repeatedly to scroll through th e flash options.
17 Chapter 2 Using Digital Zoom Use Digital Zoo m to zoom in two times closer to your subj ect. The lens does not move during Digital Zoom. IMPORT ANT : Y ou may no tice a decrease in p r in ted image qua lity when us ing Digi tal Zoo m. 1 Press the OK bu tton to turn on Li veview .
18 Chapter 2 Changing Pictur e-Taking Options Use the Capture menus to change picture-taking opt ions. If you are in Review , Share, or Setup modes you must return to Capture mode before you can access the Capt ure menus.
19 Chapter 2 Taking C lose-up Pi ctures The Close-up setting helps you gain sharpness and deta il at close range. The Close-Up focus distance is 5.9 to 19.7 in. (1 50 to 500 mm). T o turn on Close-up: 1 In Ca pture mode, press t he Menu but ton. 2 Highlight Close-up , then press the OK butto n.
20 Chapter 2 Putti ng Yo urself in the P ictur e The Self T imer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutte r butto n and the time the pic ture is take n. 1 In Captu re mode, p ress the Menu button. 2 Hig hlight S elf Timer , th en press the OK button.
21 Chapter 2 Setting Exposure Compensat ion Use E xposure C ompens ation to co ntrol ho w much light is allo wed int o the camera. The exposure range is +2 to -2 in 1/2-step increments.
22 Chapter 2 Setting Picture Quality Use the Qualit y setting to sel ect a pi cture reso lution: 1 In Capture mode, press the Menu butt on. 2 Highlig ht Qualit y , then press the OK butt on. The active Qua lity setting appears in the top left corner .
23 Chapter 2 Placing the Date on Pictures Use Date Stamp to imprint the date on your pictu res. 1 Make sur e the ca mera clo ck is set t o the cor rect date ( page 8 ). 2 In Capture mode, press the Menu butt on. 3 High light Date Stamp , then press th e OK but ton.
24 Chapter 2 Setting the Orie ntation Sensor If you rotate the camera to take a picture (for example, a portrait shot ), the Orientation Sensor rotates the picture so it is displayed correct side up during Quick view and Re view . The Ori enta tion Se nsor is turne d on as the d efault.
25 3 Reviewing P ictur es — Rev iew Mode Use Review mode to view and work with the pictures that are stored in internal memory or on a card. NOTE: Review ing pictures on the LCD quick ly depletes battery power . An optional AC adap ter is available (see p age 87 ).
26 Chapter 3 To Access the Review Menus Use the Review menus to work with the pictures that are stored in internal memory or on a card. 1 Press the Review butt on.
27 Chapter 3 Viewing Single Pictures 1 Press the Review but ton. The camera displays the last picture that was taken or rev iewed. 2 Press to scroll backward or forward through th e pictures. View ing Mu ltip le Pic ture s 1 Press the Review but ton. 2 Press .
28 Chapter 3 Deleting Pictur es 1 Press the Review but ton. 2 Select a picture in single view or highlight a pictu re in multiple view , then press the Delete bu tton. 3 High light an op tion, then pres s the OK button: PICTU RE — deletes the disp layed pictur e.
29 Chapter 3 Protecting Pictures From Deletion 1 Press the Review button, then locate the picture t o protect. 2 Pre ss th e Menu butt on. 3 Highlight Protect , then press the OK butto n. The Protect icon app ears with the protected picture whenever it is displayed in the status ba r .
30 Chapter 3 4 T o cancel the Slide Sho w , press the OK button. Changing th e Display Interval The default setting displays each pi cture for 5 seconds. Y ou can increase the display int erval to up to 60 seconds. 1 On the Slide Show menu, highl ight Interval, then press the OK butt on.
31 Chapter 3 Displaying Pictu res on a Televisi on Y ou can run a slide show or display yo ur pictures on a tele vision, computer monitor , or digital project or (any device equipped with a video input). NOTE: E nsure that th e V ideo O ut sett ing is correctly set to NTSC o r P A L (see page 42 ).
32 Chapter 3 Copying Pictures Y ou can copy p ictures from a card to internal memory , or from intern al memory to a card. Before you cop y make sure that: m A card is inserted in the camera. m The camera ’ s pi cture storage locat ion is set to the location from which you are copying.
33 Chapter 3 Viewing Picture Information 1 Press the Review but ton, then press the Menu butto n. 2 Highlig ht the Picture Info menu , then press the OK bu tton.

35 4 Ta g g i n g P i c t u r e s — Shar e Mode Press the Share b utton to t ag your pictures as Favorites and for automatic printing and ema iling. But remember , you can press the Shutter button a nd take a picture anytime, no matter what mode the camera is in! NOTE: MAC OS 8.
36 Chapter 4 Tagging Pictures for Printing 1 Locate a picture, then press the Share button. 2 Highlight Pr int and press the OK button. 3 Press to select the number of copies (0-99) . Zero removes the tag for that picture. The Print icon appears with the picture.
37 Chapter 4 Tagging Pictur es for Emailing First, use KODAK EAS YSHARE Software to create an email address boo k on your computer , then copy up to 32 email addr esses to the camera ’ s internal memory . See KODAK EASYSHARE Sof tware Help for details.
38 Chapter 4 Tagging Pictures as Fav orites 1 Locate a picture, then press the Share button. 2 Highlight Favorite , then press the OK button. The Favori te icon a ppears with the picture. 3 T o remove the tag, press the OK button again. 4 Press the Share button to return to Ca pture mode.
39 5 Customizing Camer a Settings — Setup Mode Use Setup mode t o customize your camera settings. Y ou can access Setup mode two ways: in the Capture menu screen and the Review menu screen.
40 Cha pte r 5 Returning to the Previous M enu The Return f eature lets you ret urn to the menu screen f rom which you en tered the S etup menu. m In the Setup menu, highl ight Return , then press the OK butt on. Y ou are returned to the menu screen from which you entered Setup: Cap ture or Review.

51 8 Using the K OD AK EASY SH ARE Camer a D ock II The KODAK EASYSHARE Camera Dock II (Camera Dock) makes it easy to transfer your pictures to the computer . The Camera Do ck is also a rapid battery charger for the included K ODAK EASYSH ARE Ni-MH Recha rgeable Bat tery Pack, and supplies power to the camera.
52 Chapter 8 Installing the Camera Insert KODAK EASYSH ARE digital c ameras are packaged w ith a custom camera i nsert, which is use d to perfectly fit the camera to the Camera Dock . 1 Place the front tabs on the cust om insert into the slots in the Came ra Dock c avity .
53 Chapter 8 Connecting the Camera Dock After the KODAK EASYSHAR E Software is loaded (see page 4 7 ), connect the Camera Dock to your comput er and to an external po wer source.
54 Chapter 8 Installing the Battery Pack in the Camera 1 Open the batt ery door on the bottom of the came ra . 2 Install the Battery Pack as illustrated. CAUTION: The Battery Pack can only be inserted into the camera in the orien tation sh own. If the Battery Pack do es not e asily install, repo sition it and try again .
55 Chapter 8 Docking the Camera When you are ready to transfer your pictures from the camera to the computer , or charge the Battery Pack, place t he camera in the Camera Dock. 1 Tu r n off the camera. 2 On the camera bottom, slide the conn ector cover open.
56 Chapter 8 Charging the Battery Pack The Battery Pack is not charge d when you receive it. 1 Tu r n off the camera. 2 Make sure the Battery Pack is installed in the camera (see page 54 ). 3 Place the camera in the Camera Dock (see page 55 ). m Charging b egins immediately .
57 Chapter 8 Transferring Pic tures T o tran sfer pictures from your camera to your computer: 1 T urn off the ca mera and place the camera in the Camera Dock. 2 Push the Connect b utton. The Power/Transfer light blin ks green while the p ictures are transferr ing.

60 Chapter 9 Camera does not turn off. Alkaline b atteries we re installed in the camera. DO NOT USE ALKALI NE BATTERIE S. Turn off the power s witch, remo ve the alkaline ba tterie s, and replace with a n approved battery typ e ( page 85 ). If th e p ower s witc h is on when you replace the batteries, the camera may not turn back on.
61 Chapter 9 Part of the picture is miss ing. Something was blocki ng the lens whe n the picture was taken. Keep hands, fingers, or other objects away from the le ns whe n ta king pi ctur es. Your eye or the picture was not centered correctly in t he viewfinder.
62 Chapter 9 Camera freezes up when a card is inserted or removed. Camera detects an error when the ca rd was inserted or removed. Turn the camera off, then back on. Make sure the camera is turned off before inserting or removing a card. Pict ure is too lig ht.
63 Chapter 9 Picture is not clear. The lens is dirty. Clean the lens ( pag e 82 ). Subject too close when ta king pi cture. Move so there is at least 11 .8 in (0 .3 m) betwe en the camera and the subject; or turn on Clo se-up ( page 19 ). Camera may be in Close - up ( page 1 9 ) and the subject is to o far away for pr oper focus.
64 Chapter 9 Camera /Computer Com municati ons Camera Commu nications Probl em Cause Solution The comput er cannot communicate w ith the camera. There is a problem with the co nfiguration of the USB port on your computer. See the following file on the KODAK EASY SHARE Softw are CD: US B.
65 Chapter 9 Cannot transf er pictures to computer. The Add New Hard ware Wizard cannot locate drivers. Softwa re is not in stalled on computer. m Disconnect U SB cable, or Came ra D ock, from computer. m Install KOD AK EASYSHARE Software ( page 47 ).
66 Chapter 9 MMC/SD Car ds MMC/SD Card Proble m Cause Solution The camera do es not recognize your MMC/SD card. The card may not be MMC/SD certif ied. Purchase a certified MMC/SD card ( page 1 0 ). The card may be corrupt. Reformat th e card ( page 43 ).
