2 Dear customer , this operating manual is intended to help you make the fullest use of the extensive range of functions offered by your new satellite receiver . We have tried to make the operating instructions as easy as possible to understand, and to keep them as concise as possible.
3 The difference between P AL and HDTV High-resolution TV is characterised by a signi fi cantly higher number of picture lines on the TV set. The usual European standard P AL achieves a resolution of 576 lines vertically and 720 lines horizontally .

6 Safety Instructions - Important Notes Mains cable Make sure that the mains cable (power supply cable) is not damaged. Units with a damaged mains cable must be disconnected from the mains (unplugged at the mains power socket) and repaired by an electrical specialist before being used.
7 Safety Instructions - Important Notes Periods of extended absence, thunderstorms, mains socket accessibility In order to disconnect the unit from the mains completely , the mains plug must be unplug.
8 Make sure that the ventilation slots on the unit are not covered in any way . Otherwise the unit may overheat. There is a risk of fi re! The channels available on the satellites and transponders are subject to continual change.

22 Connection and Setup LNB Frequency (MHz): Y ou only need to specify this data if your LNB type is not “Universal LNB”. The data required dif fer for the settings “Simple” and “user-de fi ned”. On this aspect, also refer to the documentation supplied with your LNB.

30 Connection and Setup The following on-screen display appears: Motor Control Select the control type “DiSEqC™1.2”. For this, refer to the documentation for your motorized antenna. Go to Null Position Select the “Go to Null Position” fi eld.

33 Connection and Setup Motor Control Select the control type “DiSEqC™1.3”. For this, refer to the documentation for your motorized antenna. My Longitude Select the fi eld “My Longitude” and use the number pad here to enter your actual longitude.
34 Connection and Setup Once you have reached the desired East/West limit, switch to the respective fi eld “Set current position for “****” border” and press the button to con fi rm.
35 Connection and Setup T est-T ransponder: Select the “T est-Transponder” fi eld. Here you can select a transponder for checking whether your settings are correct using the signal strength bar and signal quality bar . When you have completed all settings for this satellite, press the (green) button.
36 Connection and Setup Use the buttons to select the single cable system used in your reception system: Either One Cable (UAS 481 - one cable LNB) or One Cable (EXR/EXU/User). Con fi rm your selection with the button. The selected single cable system will be identi fi ed with a tick.
37 Connection and Setup When you have completed all settings, press the (green) button. Secure channel with PIN: If your single cable system allows the transmission frequency to be protected by entering a PIN, this is the menu where that can be done.
38 Connection and Setup The following on-screen display appears: LNB T ype (settings): If your reception system does not have a Universal LNB, use the buttons to select the LNB types that are used in your reception system.

43 Connection and Setup Automatic Manual Y ou need not enter any further data, the receiver will automatically update the date and time. Use the number pad or the buttons to enter the correct date. Then use the buttons to switch to the “T ime” fi eld and use the number pad or the buttons to enter the correct time.
44 Connection and Setup If you now wish to set up an archive hard disk, press the button; if not, press the button to abort this procedure. Now remove all hard disks or USB sticks from the receiver and then con fi rm by pressing the button, or pressing the button to abort this procedure.
45 Connection and Setup During the set-up the following on-screen display appears (see screenshot on the right): After a successful set-up the following on- screen display appears (see screenshot on the right): Press the button to con fi rm and close the procedure.
46 In this section we would like to offer you some basic tips and explanations about using the UFS 912. These are not speci fi c to any one menu, rather they can be used as help and orientation in practically all menus. For entries such as names of favorites or search expressions, use the keyboard displayed on the screen (see example screenshot).

51 Now use the respective coloured button to select the category in which you wish to open a channel list: Channel list selection: Use the buttons to scroll through the currently available channel lists.
52 Basic Operation in TV or Radio Mode (Live Operation) Channel information is shown for a few seconds each time the channel is changed (this can be changed under “Settings”, “User De fi ned Settings”, “Customize Screen Menu”) or displayed continuously by pressing the button.
53 Basic Operation in TV or Radio Mode (Live Operation) If the channel OSD contains the following icon , this is a portal channel. Press the (yellow) button, use the buttons to select “Select Video stream” and press the button to con fi rm your selection.
54 If the channel banner displays “1/3” in front of the symbol for the selected soundtrack, this tells you that you have currently selected the fi rst of the three available soundtracks. Press the (yellow) button, use the buttons to select “Select Audio track” and press the button to con fi rm your selection.
55 This symbol in the channel OSD shows you whether teletext is available for the selected channel. When you press the button, the receiver processes the teletext service data for your TV set to display , even when the signal is encrypted.
56 The UFS 912 provides a special function here. As soon as you switch to a channel, the receiver automatically starts recording the programme you are viewing to the hard disk in the background. When you change channel again, this stored data is deleted and background recording begins again.

58 What is the Premium EPG? The Premium EPG (referred to below just as EPG) represents the latest generation editorially prepared programme guide. It provides all the EPG information for around 100 TV channels free of charge, without you having to change channel, and also offers schedule information up to two weeks ahead.
59 Y ou will only see information on the current or subsequent programmes in the EPG if this data is supplied/transmitted by or by the channel provider . If no EPG data is available, the receiver shows the message “no data available” instead of showing information on the current program.

61 The “Current” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (green) button. In the “Current” view you can see all channels displayed in the order of the complete channel list.
62 The “Preview” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (yellow) button. In the “Preview” view you will see all the programmes that will be shown on the channel previously selected in the “Current” view .
63 The “Preview” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (blue) button. In the “Category” view you can see all programmes sorted by category and starting time.
64 Y ou can create your own categories within this section. Press the button to activate the input fi eld. Now you can enter the search expression/ category name for your new category . Alphanumeric characters are entered as described in “Operating instructions”, “Alphanumeric entries”.
65 In this section you have the facility to select an actor that is shown in the actors list (using the cursor ( ) buttons) and the by pressing the button to search through all available data for programmes in which this person appears.
66 The search function can be called up in EPG at any time by pressing the button. The following on-screen display appears (see screenshot on the right).
67 Use the buttons to select an available actor . Press the button to see a list of those programmes (if any) in which this actor appears. This depends on the name of this actor being included in the channel information. The following on-screen display appears (example): The selection is made using the buttons.
68 After calling up the search function, press the button again to gain access to the full text search. The following on-screen display appears (see example on the right): If necessary the last search expression used is offered. Pressing the button allows you to delete your entry or a search expression provided by the receiver .
69 The (red dot) button allows you to set a programme for recording at any time. The programme to be recorded can be selected in any of the EPG views, provided the (red dot) button appears at the bottom of the on-screen display .
70 Programme not in EPG: Select any programme on the channel on which the desired programme is to be broadcast at a later date, and press the (red dot) button. The following on- screen display appears (example): As there is no EPG data, you must enter the data (date, start, end) manually .
71 In the recording settings, press the buttons to select the “T arget” fi eld and then press the button. The following on-screen display appears (example): As described in the “Recording Archive” section, it is possible to create folders for your recordings and to store them in these folders.
72 Use the buttons to select the “once” recording mode (see screenshot on the right). Use the buttons to switch to the “Date” fi eld and use the buttons to select the desired recording day .
73 Use the buttons to select the “weekly” recording mode (see screenshot above). Use the buttons to switch to the selection fi eld “Start” and use the buttons or the numeric pad buttons to select the desired recording start time.

75 Instructions for recording a series: If the “Series recording” function is used to program recording of every edition or episode of a series, the EPG will locate the series in question on the updated schedules and automatically program the recording of them.

Make the changes using the cursor ( ) buttons and the number pad. Press the button to con fi rm your changes, and return to the T imer list view .
78 Editing the Channel List Y ou have two ways of accessing the edit menu for the channel lists: 1. Directly via the channel list • From the TV picture, press the button to open the channel list • Then press the (red dot) button or 2.
79 Now use the relevant coloured button to select the desired channel list category (refer to the “Basic Operation in TV or Radio Mode (Live Operation)”, “Channel selection from the channel list” sections for details).

82 Editing the Channel List Use the buttons to select “Lock” and con fi rm your selection with the button. T o lock the channel you must now enter your four-digit PIN code (factory setting: 0000).
83 Use the buttons to select “Start Blockselection” and con fi rm your selection with the button. Y ou can now use the buttons to start block selection in the previously selected channel.
84 Editing the Channel List See “Editing channels (channel lists)”, “Lock”. See “Editing channels (channel lists)”, “Start block selection”. Use the buttons to select “Rename favoritelist” and con fi rm your selection with the button.
85 The recording archive is called up by pressing the button or the button. Each time the EPG is opened, you will automatically be shown the view you had selected the last time you exited the archive.

96 Recording Archive (Playing Back/Editing Recordings) Note: When the chapter view is called up, the receiver automatically creates seven chapters for the recording you select, if this has not already been done. This function is not performed if you have already created chapters manually .
97 Recording Archive (Playing Back/Editing Recordings) Deleting a chapter: Use the buttons in the chapter overview to select the chapter to be deleted, and press the (red dot) button.

103 Main Menu - Channel Search After calling up the menu you will see the following on-screen display: The buttons allow you to select different sets of parameters for the search. Satellite Use the buttons to select the satellite on which the transponder you want to search is located.
104 Error rate Press the buttons to select the applicable error rate (Viterbi rate). When searching for DVB S(SD) transponders you need not state the error rate. Instead a fi xed display of “Automatic” appears. When searching for DVB S2(HD) transponders you must state the correct error rate.
105 Main Menu - Channel Search After calling up the menu you will see the following on-screen display: The buttons allow you to select different sets of parameters for the search. Satellite Use the buttons to select the satellite that is transmitting the channels to be searched.
106 Note: Y ou can cancel the search at any time by pressing the button. The following on-screen displays during and in connection with the search are identical to those for the automatic search. Polarisation Press the buttons to select the correct polarisation (horizontal or vertical).

11 0 Once you have made all the settings for updating your receiver , switch to the “Start Update” fi eld and press the button. The receiver will now automatically start updating the components you selected.
111 Main Menu - Service Menu First connect your USB device (with the new operating software) to the receiver , using a free USB port on the receiver . Then select the “Update Firmware” fi eld and con fi rm the start of the update by pressing the button.

11 5 Force 576i (must be supported by the TV set otherwise you will not see a TV picture) Y ou can only/only need to make this setting if you have selected the setting “Automatic” for “HDMI/YUV Resolution”.

11 8 Main Menu - Settings Automatical Manual Y ou need not make any further entry , the receiver will automatically update the date and time. Use the number pad or the buttons to enter the correct date. Then use the buttons to switch to the “T ime” fi eld and use the number pad or the buttons to enter the correct time.
11 9 Y ou can now use the remote control for your receiver to set a new remote control code (the remote control code 1 is set as standard). Simultaneously press buttons: - + + for remote c.

121 Main Menu - Settings Lock Mainmenu Select here whether the main menu should be locked. If the main menu is locked, the four-digit PIN code will be requested when it is called up. Without the four-digit PIN code (factory setting: “0000”), the main menu cannot be viewed and no changes can be made to the device settings.

123 Front Display Brightness Set the front display brightness here. Select the most comfortable setting for your ambient lighting. Y our available options are: - Bright - Medium - Dark or - Off (display is not switched on/lit during operation) Front Display in Standby Select here whether the front display is illuminated in standby mode.
124 Main Menu - Settings EPG Grabbing Time Select here the time at which the receiver's EPG data should be updated. Since updating can take up to 45 minutes it is recommended that the grabbing time should be during the night when the receiver is not being used.

126 Here you can use the buttons to set whether when the name of a channel is changed the receiver automatically updates the name of the channel in the channel list (setting: “On”). If the setting is “Off”, the old channel name will be retained.
127 Main Menu - Settings After calling up the menu you will see the following on-screen display: If you do not have a meter for adjusting your re fl ector , you can use the sat fi nder as an alignment aid. However the sat- fi nder is not a complete substitute for a meter .

129 Frequency Select here the desired transponder . By pressing the button at this point you can view a list of the transponders saved in the receiver for this satellite. Use the buttons to select the transponder you want and con fi rm your selection with the button.
130 Band: Use the buttons to select the correct band for the new satellite. When all settings have been made, press the button to save the new satellite. Main Menu - Settings Delete Satellite Press the button to delete the currently selected satellite.
131 Main Menu - Settings Satellite Name Select here the satellite for which you want to edit/delete the transponder , or for which you want to add a new transponder . By pressing the button at this point you can view a list of the satellites saved in the receiver .
132 Edit T ransponder By pressing the button you can call up the input screen which allows you to edit/change the settings of the previously selected transponder . Frequency: Here you are shown the selected transponder to be edited. The transponder frequency cannot be changed.
133 Main Menu - Settings New T ransponder By pressing the button you can call up the input screen to save a new transponder . The following on-screen display appears: Frequency: Use the number pad to enter the transmission frequency for the new transponder .
