3 Getting Star ted Accessories Check that you have all of the following items, which are supplied with the System. AM Loop Antenna (1) Remote Control (1) Batteries (2) FM W ire Antenna (1) If any of these items is missing, contact your dealer immediately .
4 CAUTION: Make all connections before plugging the Unit into an AC power outlet. Connecting the FM Antenna Connecting the AM Antenna Using the Supplied Wire Antenna FM Wire Antenna Extend the supplied FM W ire Antenna horizontally . Using an FM 75-Ohm Antenna Cable (not supplied) If reception is poor , connect the outside antenna.
5 CAUTION: Make all connections before plugging the Unit into an AC power outlet. Connecting the Speakers For each speaker , connect one end of the speaker wire to the speaker terminals on the back of the System. 1. Open each of the terminals and insert the speaker wires firmly , then close the terminals.
6 COMPU PLA Y COMPU PLA Y is JVC’ s feature that lets you control the most frequently used functions of the System with a single touch. One T ouch Operation starts playing a CD, turns on the radio, plays a tape, etc. with a single press of the play button for that function.

8 Adjusting the V olume Turn the VOLUME control clockwise to increase the volume or anticlockwise to decrease it. Turning the VOLUME control quickly also adjusts the volume level quickly . When using the Remote Control, press the VOLUME + button to increase the volume or press the VOLUME – button to decrease it.
9 Listening to Auxiliary Equipment By playing the sound from auxiliary equipment through the System, you can gain control over how the music or program sounds. Once the connected equipment is playing through the System, you can apply the sound effects.
10 Using the T uner Y ou can listen to both FM and AM stations. Stations can be tuned in manually , automatically , or from preset memory storage. o Before listening to the radio: • Check that both the FM and AM antennas are firmly connected. (See page 4).
11 Three W ays to Select a Station —————————————— o Press the TUNING DOWN or TUNING UP on the MUL TI CONTROL repeatedly to move from frequency to frequency until you find the one you want.

14 Basics of Using the CD Player — Nor mal Play Playing a Disc ——————————————————————— 1. Pr epare the discs. 2. Pr ess the CD £ / 8 or DISC button (1-3) of the disc you want to play . When using the Remote Control, press the £ / 8 button or the DISC button (1 to 3).

16 3. Pr ess the number keys (1 to 10 and +10) to select the track to program. • Example: for track 5, press 5. For track 15, press +10 then 5. For track 20, press +10 then 10. 4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to select the other tracks for the pr ogram. 5. Pr ess the £ / 8 button.
17 Repeating a Selection or the Discs Y ou can have all the discs, the program or the individual selection currently playing repeat as many times as you like. Press the REPEA T button. Each time you press the button, the Repeat Modes changes as follows.

19 3. Close the holder gently . When both Deck A and Deck B contain a tape, the last deck to have a tape inserted is selected. T o change the selected deck, press the DECK A/B button. When using the Remote Control, press the A or B button. 4. Press the T APE ™£ button (or ™ or £ button on the Remote Control).

21 CAUTION: If recordings you have made have excessive noise or static, the Unit may be too close to a TV which was on during the recording. Either turn off the TV or increase the distance between the TV and the System. Standar d Recording This is the basic method for recording any source.
22 Recording AM Station to T ape ——————————————— When recording an AM broadcast, beats may be produced which are not heard when listening to the broadcast. In this case, press the CONTINUE button on the CD Player to eliminate the beats.
23 Using the Timer The timers let you control listening and recording functions automatically . Use the Remote Control to set the clock and timers. Setting the Clock The timers depend on the clock: the clock must be right for the timers to work as you expect.
24 Setting the Timer o Y ou can set the Timer whether the Unit is on or of f. Procedur e For Setting the Timer 1. Pr ess the SHIFT button. 2. Pr ess the 2 TIMER button. The T imer indicator on the display lights up and the blinking “TIMER ON” changes to the On-T ime setting display .
25 8. Press the 8 SET button. The volume level blinks on the display . 9. Press the SELECT 5 + or 4 – button to set the volume level. 10. Press the 8 SET button. The display returns to the display before you set the timer . Before T ur ning the Unit Off • Check that the selected source is ready .
26 Car e And Maintenance Compact Discs Handle your compact discs, cassette tapes, and Cassette Deck carefully , and they will last a long time. • Remove the CD from the case by holding it at the edges while pressing the centre hole lightly . • Do not touch the shiny surface of the CD, or bend the CD.
27 • If you are having a problem with your System, check this list for a possible solution before calling for service. • If you cannot solve the problem from the hints given here, or the Unit has been physically damaged, call a qualified person, such as your dealer , for service.
