EN 3 Basic Connections CHECK CONTENTS 1 Make sure the package contains all of the accessories listed in "Specifications" ( Z pg. 43). SITUA TE RECORDER 2 Place the recorder on a stable, horizontal surface. CONNECT RECORDER TO TV 3 The connection method you use depends on the type of TV you have.
4 EN V ideo Channel Set INITIAL SETTINGS V ideo Channel (RF Output Channel) is the channel on which your TV receives picture and sound signals from the video recorder through the RF cable. If you have connected the video recorder to your TV via the provided RF cable only (RF connection) – Go to "With RF Connection" below .
EN 5 (Ex.) If channel 50 is available in your area SET VIDEO CHANNEL 3 Set your TV to UHF channel 34. ● If the two vertical white bars appear clearly on the screen as shown in the illustration ( Z "TEST SIGNAL" on page 4), press OK and then go to step 4 .

During playback, you can override this and adjust the tracking manually by pressing the PR + / – buttons. OVERRIDE AUTOMA TIC TRACKING 1 Press PR + and – on the recorder to engage manual tracking.
14 EN Index Search Y our recorder automatically marks index codes at the beginning of each recording. T his function gives you quick access to an y one of 9 index codes in either direction. NOTE: Before starting, make sure the recorder is in the Stop mode.

(Biconditional Equalised Signal T racking) system checks the condition of the tape in use during recording and playbac k, and compensates to provide the highest-possible recording and playbac k pictures.

EN 23 When programmes overlap each other If “PROGRAM OVERLAPPED” appears, you have another programme overlapping the programme you have just made. The Programme Check screen appears and conflicting programmes will start blinking. Example: Programme 1 (you have just made) and Programme 4 ov erlap each other .
24 EN Auto Timer When the Auto T imer is set to ON the timer is automatically engaged when the recorder power is turned off and automati- cally disengaged when the recorder is powered back on.

26 EN Remote A/B Code Switching T he remote control is capable of controlling two JVC video recorders independently; one set to respond to the remote control's A code control signals and another set to respond to B code control signals.

28 EN SET BRAND CODE 1 Refer to the chart below . While holding down CABLE/ SA T/DVD on the recorder's remote control, enter one of the brand code corresponding to the make of your unit using the NUMBER keys, then press OK . Check if the unit's power goes off as it should.
