11 1 Preparing and using for the first time If the machine is oper ated with a defective mains cable , there is a danger of potentially fatal electric shock. T Never use a mac hine which is damaged or has a defective mains cable. Precondition: The bean container has been filled.
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Fill the water tank with fresh, cold wat er and reinsert the tank. T Press the ‘Ne x t’ button. ‘Switc h open’ T Place a r eceptacle under the hot -w ater spout and dual spout. l T T urn the switch to the m position.
13 1 Preparing and using for the first time g T T urn the Rotar y Switc h to change the w ater hardness set - ting, e.g. to ‘25°dH’ . T Press the ‘S ave’ button. ‘Saved’ appears briefly on the display . ‘Fill water tank.
14 1 Preparing and using for the first time Y our JURA F9 creates fine, cream y , feather-ligh t milk foam with a perfec t consistency . The most import ant requirement for frothing milk is a milk temperatur e of 4–8 °C . W e would therefor e recom - mend using a milk cooler or a vacuum milk container .
15 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation E Y ou c an stop the machine at an y time while a speciality coffee or hot water is being prep ared. Just press any butt on (for a speciality coffee) or return the switc h to its original position (for hot wa ter prepar ation).

18 2 Preparation Y ou can choose to use a second coffee v ariety , for example decaf - feinated coff ee, with the filt er funnel for ground coffee . E Never add more than two lev el measuring spoons of ground coffee . E Use ground coffee whic h is not ground too finely .
19 2 Preparation It is easy to permanently adjust the amount of w ater for all single product s to the cup siz e. A djust the amount once as shown in the following example . E v ery time you prepare a drink in the future , this amount will be dispensed.
20 2 Preparation Y ou can adjust the grinder o n a continuous scale to suit the degree of roast of y our coffee . If you adjust the consist ency of grind when the grinder is not oper - ating, the grinder adjustment switch could be damaged. T Only adjust the consistency of grind when the grinder is run - ning.
21 3 Daily operation 3 Daily oper ation Daily maintenance of the mac hine and hy giene when handling milk, coffee and w ater are k ey t o a perfec t coffee result in the c up every time. Y ou sh ould therefore c hange the water d aily . Precondition: Y our JURA F9 is switched on at the pow er switch.
22 3 Daily operation Carr y out the following maintenanc e actions regularly or as requi - red: U In the interests of hy giene, w e recommend changing the milk pipe on a regular basis (approximat ely ev ery 3 months). Replacement pipes ar e available from spec ialised dealers (JURA original accessory set for frothers).

Y o u can navigate through the progr amme items and permanently sav e the required settings simply by turning the R otar y Switc h and using the multi- function buttons.
24 4 Permanent settings in progr amming mode In the programme it em ‘Product settings’ ( ‘3/7’ ) y ou can make the following settings : U ‘Exper t mode’ U Set individual settings for all speciality coffees, milk and hot wat er (see Chapter 4 ‘Permanen t settings in programming mode – Adjusting the product settings’).

34 5 Maintenance After each milk prepar ation, the JURA F9 prompts you to perform a milk system rinsing. Precondition: ‘Rinse the milk system ’ is display ed. T Place a recep tacle under the dual spout. k T Press the Rotar y Switc h.
35 5 Maintenance T Empt y the other receptacle and place it under the dual spout again. T Press the ‘Ne x t’ button. ‘Cleaning Cappuccino ’ , the dual spout and the pipe are rinsed with fresh w ater . The operation st ops automatically .
36 5 Maintenance T Dismantle the milk system into its individual part s. T Rinse all the part s under running water . If there are sev erely dried-on milk residues, firstly immer se the individual part s in a solution of 250ml cold water and 1 capful of JURA milk system cleaner .
37 5 Maintenance g T T urn the R otary Switch until ‘Maintenance settings ’ ( ‘6/7’ ) is display ed. T Press the ‘Use filter’ button. ‘Use filter’ T Press the ‘A c t i v e ’ button. T Press the ‘S ave’ button.
38 5 Maintenance E After t wo months, the filter will cease to w ork. Set the date on the date plate on the filter holder in the w ater tank. E If the CLARIS Blue filter car tridge is not activated in progr am - ming mode, y ou will not be prompted to change the filter .
39 5 Maintenance After 200 prepar ations or 80 swit ch-on rinses, the JURA F9 will prompt you to c lean it. If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine could be d amaged and/or trace s could be left behind in the water . T Use only original JURA maintenance products.

The JURA F9 builds up deposits of limescale over time and automat - ically prompts you to descale it when necessary .
