10 1 Preparing and using for the first time Precondition: The bean container has been filled. T Inser t the mains plug into a power sock et. 3 T Switc h on the IMPRESS A using the power swit ch on the back of the machine . Q T Press the O n/Off button to switch the IMP RESSA on.
11 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Place a receptacle (at least 300 ml) under the fine foam frother and the coffee spout. j T T urn the switch t o the m position. FILTER RINSING , wat er flows out of the fine fo am frother .
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Fill the water tank with fresh, cold wat er and reinsert the tank. SWITCH OPEN The arrow on the switch lights up. T Place a receptacle under the fine foam frother and under the coffee spout. j T T urn the switch t o the m position.
13 1 Preparing and using for the first time Y ou can adjust the grinder on a continuous scale to suit the degree of roast of your coff ee. If you adjust the consist ency of grind when the grinder is not oper - ating, the grinder adjustment switch could be damaged.
14 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation E Y ou can stop the machine at any time while a speciality coffee , steam or hot wa ter is being prep ared. Just press any butt on (for a speciality coffee) or return the switch t o its original posi- tion (for steam and hot w ater).
15 2 Preparation T wo ristretti, two espressi or two co ffees can alw ays be prepared fol- lowing the same model: Press the pr epar ation button y ou want twice within t wo seconds. Y our IMPRESSA can prepare a cappuccino without the c up having to be mov ed.
16 2 Preparation h T T urn the switch to the ° position. The illuminated arrow on the switc h goes out. CAPPUCCINO appears on the display . Coffee preparation start s. The preset amount of water f or espresso flows into the cup . Preparation stop s automatically .

18 2 Preparation T Open the cover of the filler funnel f or ground coffee . FILL PRE-GROUND T Place one lev el measuring spoon of ground coffee into the filler funnel. T Close the co ver of the filler funnel. SELECT BUTTON < T Press the Espresso button.
19 2 Preparation E Y ou can also permanently set the amount of water for all spe- ciality coffees and hot wa ter in programming mode (see Chapter 4 ‘P ermanent settings in programming mode – Prod- uct settings’). T o obtain a per fect water flow , use the hot-w ater nozzle.
20 3 Daily operation 3 Daily oper ation Daily maintenance of the mac hine and hy giene when handling milk, coffee and w ater are k ey to a perfect coffee result in the cup ev ery time. Y ou should therefore change the wat er daily . Precondition: Y our IMPRESSA is switched on at the po wer switc h.
21 3 Daily operation When the IMPRESSA is swit ched off , the system is automatically rinsed if a speciality coffee has been prepared. If cappuccino or milk foam has been prepared, the machine will also prompt y ou to rinse the cappuccino frother . Precondition: READY is display ed.
22 4 Permanent settings in programming mode 4 Permanent settings in progr amming mode Y ou can make permanent settings in progr amming mode. Y ou can navigate through the progr amme items and permanently sav e the required settings simply by turning and pressing the R otar y Switc h.

26 4 Permanent settings in programming mode By instructing your IMPRESSA t o automatically switch itself off , you can cut down y our energy consumption. If this function is activated, your IMPRES SA switches off aut omatically after the preset time fol- lowing the last action on the machine .

29 4 Permanent settings in programming mode E The maintenance status can also be display ed in addition to the number of performed maintenance programmes. The bar shows the current maint enance status. When the bar is com- pletely filled, your IMP RESSA will request the respective main- tenance progr amme .
30 4 Permanent settings in programming mode In the programme it em LANGUAGE you can select the language used by y our IMPRESS A. Example : Proceed as follows to c hange the language from ENGLISH to DEUTSCH . Precondition: READY is display ed. k T Press and hold the Rotar y Switch until RINSE appears.
31 5 Maintenance 5 Maintenance Y our IMPRESSA has the follo wing integr ated maintenance pro- grammes : U Rinsing the machine ( RINSE ) U Rinsing the fine foam frother ( CRINSE ) U Cleaning the fin.
32 5 Maintenance E This chapter applies to the professional fine f oam frother and the fine foam frother . After each milk preparation, the IMPRES SA prompts you to perform a cappuccino rinse . Precondition: RINSE CAPPUCCINO is display ed and the Main- tenance button c lights up.
33 5 Maintenance T Remov e the milk pipe from the milk container or carton. T Pour 250 ml of fresh water into a receptacle and add one capful of Cappuccino Cleaner . T Immerse the milk pipe in the receptacle. T Place a receptacle under the fine foam frother .
34 5 Maintenance T Dismantle the fine foam frother into its individual par ts. T Rinse all the par ts of the fine foam frother thoroughly under running wat er . If there are severely dried-on milk residues, firstly immerse the individual par t s in JURA Cappuccino Cleaner and then rinse them thoroughly .
35 5 Maintenance Y our IMPRESSA no longer has to be descaled if y ou are using the CLARIS Blue filter cartridge. If you did not activa te the filter cartridge the first time you used the machine , you can do this no w as follo ws. E Perform the ‘inser ting the filter’ operation without an y inter - ruptions.
36 5 Maintenance E Y ou can interrupt rinsing of the filter at any time . T o do this, turn the switch clockwise. T urn the switch anticlockwise to continue rinsing the filter . E The water ma y be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to health and does not affect the taste.

39 5 Maintenance If the descaling operation is int errupted, there may be damage to the machine . T Allow the descaling progr amme to run to the end. If the descaling agent comes into contact with sensitive surfaces (e.g. marble), damage cannot be ruled out.
40 5 Maintenance h T T urn the switch to the ° position. DESCALING , the descaling operation is c ontinued. The Maintenance button c flashes during the descaling opera- tion. The operation is int errupted, EMPTY TRAY . T Empt y the drip tra y and coffee grounds container and put them back into the machine .
41 5 Maintenance Coffee beans may be c overed with a slight oil film whic h remains on the walls of the bean c ontainer . These traces may negativ ely affect the coffee result. F or this reason clean the bean container from time to time . Precondition: FILL BEANS is display ed.
