41 1 Preparing and using for the first time pt es nl it fr ru en de Setting up the machine When setting up your IMPRES SA, please note the following: U Place the IMPRESS A on a horizontal surface that is not sensitive to w ater . U Choose a spot for y our IMPRESSA whic h protect s the machine against ov erheating.
42 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Open the filter holder and inser t the filter cartridge into the water tank, exerting slight pressure. T Close the filter holder . It will click into place audibly . E After t wo months, the filter will ce ase to work.
43 1 Preparing and using for the first time pt es nl it fr ru en de Determining the w ater hardness Y ou can find out what the water hardness is by using the Aquadur® test strip supplied as standard. T Hold the test strip briefly (for 1 second) under flowing w ater .
44 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation E Y ou can stop prepar ation of a speciality coffee , speciality coffee with milk or hot water at an y time. T o do this, touch ‘Can cel’ . E After a specialit y coffee is selected and during grinding, the coffee strength is briefly display ed.

The grinder star ts up. T T urn the grinder adjustment switch to the desired position while the grinder is running.
48 3 Daily operation Daily maintenance T o ensure that you get many years of reliable service out of your IMPRESSA and t o guarantee the optimum coffee quality , the machine requires daily maintenance . T Pull out the drip tray . T Empt y the coffee grounds container and the drip tra y .
49 4 Permanent settings in programming mode pt es nl it fr ru en de 4 Permanent settings in pro- gr amming mode T ouch the Menu symbol t for about 2 seconds to view the list of maintenance progr ammes and switch to progr amming mode.
50 5 Maintenance T T ouch the Menu symbol t to exit progr am- ming mode. The star t screen is displayed. Automatic switch-off By instructing your IMPRESSA t o automatically switch itself off, y ou can cut down y our energy consumption. Y our IMPRESSA switches off automatically after the preset time following the last action on the machine.
51 5 Maintenance pt es nl it fr ru en de E Clean or descale the machine , rinse the milk system or change the filter when y ou are prompted to do so. E T ouch the Menu symbol t for about 2 seconds to view the list of maint enance programmes. By referring t o the bar you can see which maintenance progr amme is due .
52 5 Maintenance T T ouch ‘Start’ again. ‘Milk system cleaner’ T Pour 250ml of fresh water int o a receptacle and add one capful of milk system cleaner . T Immerse the milk pipe in the recept acle . T Place another receptacle under the dual spout.

If there are severely dried-on milk residues, firstly immerse the individual par t s in a solution of 250ml cold wa ter and 1 capful of JURA milk system cleaner .
54 5 Maintenance T Open the filter holder and inser t the filter cartridge into the water tank, exerting slight pressure. T Close the filter holder . It will click into place audibly . E After t wo months, the filter will ce ase to work. Set the date on the date plat e on the filter holder in the wa ter tank.
55 5 Maintenance pt es nl it fr ru en de T Fill the water tank with fresh, cold w ater and reinsert the t ank. T Place a receptacle (at least 300ml) under the hot -wat er spout. T T ouch ‘Next’ . ‘Filter is being rinsed’ , w ater flows out of the hot -wat er spout.
56 5 Maintenance Descaling the machine The IMPRESSA builds up depo sits of limescale over time and automatically prompts you to descale it when necessary. The degree of calc ification depends on the hardness of your w ater . J CAUTION If the descaling agent comes into contact with the skin or ey es, this can cause irritation.
