T wo midplanes are offered for this system: a passive SA T A (data cables required), and an active SAS/ SA T A RAID (no data cables required).

22 Intel® Server System SR2500AL User’s Guide P eripheral Devices The server system provides locations and hardware for installing hard drives, a USB floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, or DVD-ROM drive. The drives must be purchased separately . The following figur e shows the available options.

26 Intel® Server System SR2500AL User’s Guide Fixed Brac ket Rack Mount Installation 1. Fully extend a rail assembly; the finger tab for the extension lock is revealed. 2. Press the finger tab and slide the inside rail from the middle rail until it completely separates.
Intel® Server System SR2500AL User’s Guide 27 22. Fully extend the left and right rails un til the extension locks have engaged and the rails will not push back in. The rail syst em is now ready to receive the chassis. Caution: Lifting and placing the chassi s in the rails is a two-p erson job.

84 Intel® Server System SR2500AL User’s Guide Replacing the Bac k up Battery The lithium batte ry on the server board powers the R TC for up to 10 years in the abs ence of power . When the battery starts to weaken, it loses voltage, and the server settings stored in CMOS RAM in the R TC (for example, the date and time) may be wrong.
