20 NS-HD02 www.insigniaproducts.com Understanding radio modes Y our radio has thr ee radio modes: A nalog (FM), HD Radio, and RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data System). The thr ee radio modes are aut o matically changed when the receiving frequency is changed.

Many HD Radio stations have seve ral sub- channels called “ multicast channels. ” When receiving an HD Radio signal, the “HD” icon and the channel number appear on the display .
22 NS-HD02 www.insigniaproducts.com RBDS mode RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data System) mode provides additional functionality to F M radio r eception by transmitting encoded analog information with the FM r adio signal. Th is signal is decoded by an RBDS receiver and can provide a range of inf ormational features including the station ’ s name.

When your radio reaches the lowest mu lticast channel, it goes to the next lower station (analog or HD).
