6 HO W T O USE Y OUR LA WN MO WER ENGINE SPEED The engine speed was set at the f actory for optim um per- f ormance. Speed is not adjustable. ENGINE ZONE CONTROL CA UTION: Federal regulations require an engine control to be installed on this lawn mo wer in order to minimize the risk of blade contact injury .
7 OPERA TION T O EMPTY GRASS CA TCHER (See Fig. 7) 1. Lift up on grass catcher using the fr ame han dle. 2. Remov e g rass catcher with clippings from under la wn mower han dle. 3. Empty clippings from bag using both frame handle and bag handle. NO TE : Do not drag the bag when emptying; it will cause unnecessar y wear .
8 ADD GASOLINE (See Fig. 8) • Fill fuel tank to bottom of tank fi ller neck. Do not ov er- fi ll. Use fresh, clean, regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane . Do not mix oil with gasoline. Purchase fuel in quan ti ties that can be used within 30 da ys to assure fuel freshness.
9 T O STOP ENGINE • T o stop engine, release oper ator presence control bar . W ait until b lade and all moving parts hav e stopped and turn fuel valv e to OFF position if you do not intend to re star t the engine soon.
10 MAINTENANCE LUBRICA TION CHAR T GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this la wn mo wer does not co v er items that hav e been subjected to oper ator abuse or negligence . T o receive full v alue from the warranty , operator must maintain mower as instructed in this manual.
11 LA WN MO WER Alwa ys observe saf ety rules when perf orming any main- te nance. TIRES • K eep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect control chem- i cals which can har m rubber . • A v oid stumps, stones , deep ruts, sharp objects and other hazards that ma y cause tire damage.
12 AIR FIL TER Y our engine will not r un properly and may be damaged by using a dirty air fi lter . Replace the air fi lter e very 100 hours of operation or e v ery season, whichev er occurs fi rst. Ser vice air cleaner more often under dusty conditions.
