2 PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS AND SAFETY 1. Someone should be within range of your voice or close enough to come to your aid when you work near a lead-acid batter y . 2. Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case batter y acid contacts skin, clothing, or eyes.
3 PREP ARING TO CHARGE 1. Determine voltage of batter y by referring to car owner's manual and make sure that output voltage selector switch is set at correct voltage. 2. If it is necessar y to remove batter y from vehicle to charge, or to clean terminals, always remove grounded terminal from batter y first.

5 CHARGE RA TE SELECTOR SWITCH FIGURE 3 • The sliding selector switch on the front panel of the charger offers two Charge Rates for charging various types of batteries and a Start position to assist star ting engines. • Select the correct switch position BEFORE connecting the charger to a battery or AC power source.
6 CIRCUIT BREAKER This batter y charger has an internal self-resetting circuit breaker that protects the charger from temporar y over- loads. When it operates it makes a clicking sound. Y ou will see the ammeter reduce to zero when the breaker is open.
7 CHARGING IF BA TTER Y IS OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE Set charger's Charge Rate Selector switch to appropriate setting according to batter y size. Make sure the Charge/ Star t switch is in the Charge position.
8 CARE AND MAINTENANCE With only minimal maintenance, the Husky 2/10/55 Batter y Charger will deliver years of dependable ser vice. Follow these simple steps to maintain the charger in optimum condition: • After each use, clean the batter y charger clamps - be sure to remove any batter y fluid that will cause corrosion of the copper clamps.
9 APPENDIX A — CHARGING TIMES T o calculate the approximate charging time required to fully charge a batter y , it is necessar y to determine the specific gravity (or , percent of batter y charge) using a hydrometer . Use this technique if batter y vent caps can be removed.
