2 The sound pulses are transmit ted at various frequencies depending on the application. V er y high frequencies (455kHz) are used for greatest definition but the operating depth is limited. High frequencies (200kHz) are c ommonly used on consumer sonar and pro vide a good balance between depth performance and resolution.
3 DualBeam PLUS™ Sonar Y our 700 Series™ Fishing S ystem uses a 200 /83 kHz DualBeam PLUS™ sonar system with a wide (60 °) area of coverage. DualBeam PLUS™ sonar has a narrowly focused 20 ° center beam, surrounded by a second beam of 60 °, expanding your co verage to an area equal to your depth.
6 NOTE: Y our 700 Series™ does not support Navionics® Classic Char ts, only Navionics® Gold, otMaps™, and HotMaps™ Premium. Y our unit also comes with a built -in Uni-Map™ with a more detail.
5 7 What’ s On the Display The 700 Series™ can display a variety of useful information about the area under and adjacen t to your boat, including the follo wing items: Timer - elapsed time with T emp/ Speed Accessory or GPS Receiver . Depth - water depth; can be set to alarm when the water becomes t oo shallow .

10 Sonar View Sonar View presents a historical log of sonar r eturns. Depth is always displayed. Readouts for temperature and speed are aut omatically displayed if the appropriate accessory is connected.
12 Freeze Fr ame Freeze Frame - Pressing any arr ow on the 4-W A Y Cursor Con trol key will freeze the scr een and a cursor will be displayed on the screen. The cursor can be positioned on the display using the 4-W A Y Cursor Control k ey to determine the depth of any sonar return.
14 Sonar Zoom View Sonar Zoom View increases the displayed resolution t o separate sonar returns that are very close together , such as those caused by fish suspended close to the bot tom or within structure. In Z oom View , the display is split to show a narrow slice of the full range view on the right and the zoomed view on the left.
16 Circular Flasher View Circular Flasher View displays Real Time Sonar (RTS®) data in the traditional flasher format. Depth and temperature are always displayed.
18 The sonar information from the side-looking beams reveals bot tom contour , structure and fish similar to the down-looking beam, but the area co vered is to the left and righ t of the area shown in the down-looking portion, so you actually see more of the bottom.
20 Bird’ s Eye View Bird's Eye View - This view shows a 3-D , perspective view of the track and the chart’ s land contour from a point above and behind the boat (the eye poin t).
22 Combo View Combo View - This view is displayed as a split screen, with Chart View on the left and Sonar View on the right side of the screen. The width of the sonar window can be changed. View Orientation Both Chart and Combo views allow you t o choose the orientation of the view .
24 Nearest Current Station: Current information for the near est current station to your presen t position will be displayed. This includes the position of the station and the current changes f or today .
26 T o mak e it easier to select a waypoint, select Sort By and press the RIGHT or LEFT Cursor keys to select a sort order: • Name shows the waypoints alphabetically • Time shows the most recently- created waypoint first • Distance shows the closest waypoint first.
28 Sav e, Edit or Delete a Route Save the current route: While you ar e navigating , the current rout e can be saved. From the Navigation X -Press TM menu, select Save Current Route and press the RIGHT Cursor k ey .
30 Press and hold the POWER/LIGHT k ey for 3 seconds to turn the unit of f. A message will appear telling you how many seconds there ar e until shutdown occurs. Y our 700 Series™ Fishing Syst em should always be turned off using the POWER/LIGHT k ey .
32 ZOOM (+/-) K ey Press the - or + ZOOM k eys while in any of the Navigation Views or the Sonar Zoom View t o change the scale of the view to appear closer or farther away . EXIT K ey The EXIT key has multiple functions, depending on the situation: • If an alarm is sounding, pressing EXIT will cancel the alarm.
34 The Menu System The menu system is divided int o easy-to-use menu modules. The main componen ts of the menu system are: Start-Up Options Menu - Press the MENU key during the power up sequence t o view the Start- Up Options menu.
36 Start-Up Options Menu Press the MENU key when the Title screen is displayed t o access the Start -Up Options menu. Use the UP or DOWN 4-W A Y Cursor keys to position the cursor , then the RIGHT Cursor key to select one of the following choices.
38 37 A message will appear on the display periodically to remind you that you are using the Simulat or . Exit the Simulator by powering your 7 00 Series™ Fishing System off . System Status Use System Status t o view system connections and t o conduct a unit self-t est.
40 Side (WideSide® transducer: WideSide® view only) Side sets which transducer beam from the WideSide® T ransducer is shown in the WideSide® View .
42 Upper Range (Advanced: Sonar , Split Sonar , Big Digits and Circular Flasher views only) Upper Range sets the shallowest depth range that will be displayed on the Sonar , Split Sonar, Big Digits and Circular Flasher Views.
44 Side Beam Range (WideSide® transducer: WideSide® view only) Side Beam Range sets the deepest range that will be displayed in the WideSide® View .
46 Bott om Lock (Sonar Zoom view only) Bott om Lock changes the mode of the Z oomed view in the Sonar Zoom View . Bott om Lock continuously graphs the bot tom at a constant point on the display regardless of c hanges in depth. This "flatt ens" out the bott om contour , but is eff ective at showing fish on or near the bottom.
47 48 W aypoint [Name] (Only with an active cursor on a waypoint) W aypoint [Name] allows you to view the W aypoints submenu for the waypoint under your cursor .
50 Sav e Current Route (only when Navigating) Save Current Route allows you to save the current rout e being displayed. This menu choice will only appear when you are currently navigating a rout e. T o Sa v e C urren t R out e: 1. Highlight Save Current Route on the Navigation X -Press TM menu.
52 W aypoint [Name] (Most recently- created waypoint) W aypoint [Name] allows you to view the waypoints submenu for the most recen tly created waypoint. NOTE : Y ou must have pressed the MARK k ey at least once since you last powered up the fishfinder for this menu choice t o appear .
54 Sonar Menu T ab Press the MENU key twice to access the Main Menu S ystem and then press the RIGHT Cursor key t o select the Sonar tab. NOTE: Menu c hoices will vary depending on system set tings such as whether the unit is set for Advanced User mode or what transducer is currently selected.
56 Fish ID+ TM Fish ID+ TM uses advanced signal processing to int erpret sonar returns, and will display a Fish S ymbol when very selective requirements are met. When a fish is detected, a fish icon and its depth are displayed abo ve the return that has been classified as being a fish.
58 Zoom Width Zoom Width adjusts the width of the Z oom window on the Sonar Zoom View . T o c hang e the Z oom Width Set ting: 1. Highlight Z oom Width on the Sonar main menu. 2. Use the LEFT or RIGHT 4-W A Y Cursor Control k eys to change the Z oom Width setting.
60 Depth Lines (Advanced) Depth Lines divide the display into four equal sections that are separat ed by three horizontal depth lines. The depth of each line is displayed along the depth scale. Y ou can either turn Depth Lines On or Off . The Depth Lines menu choice is available when User Mode is set to Adv anced (see Setup Menu T ab: User Mode ).
62 Noise Filter (Advanced) Noise Filter adjusts the sonar Noise Filter to limit in terference on the display from sources such as your boat engine, turbulence, or other sonar devices. The Noise Filter menu choice is available when User Mode is set to Advanced (see Setup Menu T ab: User Mode ).
64 Navig ation Menu T ab Press the MENU key twice to access the Main Menu S ystem, then press the RIGHT cursor key t o select the Navigation tab. NOTE: Menu c hoices will vary depending on system set tings. Navigation Menu T ab 63 W a ter T ype (Advanced) W ater T ype configures your unit for operation in fresh or salt water .
66 W aypoints W aypoints allows you to view the W aypoints submenu. T o view the W a ypoin ts Submenu: 1. Highlight W aypoints on the Navigation main menu.
68 North Reference North Reference allows you to have bearings displayed with one of two orientations: T rue North or Magnetic Nor th. T o c hang e the Nor th R eferenc e set ting: 1. 70 Course Projection Line Course Projection Line allows you to display or hide an arr ow extending fr om the bow of the boat that projects your current course, and shows where the boat will go if you continue on your presen t course. T o c hang e the Course Pr ojec t Line setting: 1.
72 Chart Detail Level Chart Detail Level allows you to select how much chart detail you want displayed on the Navigation Views. Basic shows land areas , ports, obstructions and restricted areas. Navigation shows navaids , landmarks, ferryways and navigation routes in addition to the Basic inf ormation.
74 Set Map Offset (Advanced) Set Map Offset allows you to change the map of fset used by the 700 Series™. The Set Map Offset menu choice is only available when User Mode is set to Adv anced (see Setup Menu T ab: User Mode ). NOTE: The Map Offset will be applied t o all maps and not just the map that requires the correction.
76 Depth Alarm Depth Alarm sounds when the depth becomes equal to or less than the menu set ting. T o c hang e the Depth Alarm setting: 1. Highlight Depth Alarm on the Alarms main menu. 2. Use the LEFT or RIGHT 4-W A Y Cursor Control k eys to change the Depth Alarm set ting .
78 Off Course Alarm Off Course Alarm sounds when the boat has moved too far of f course based on the menu set ting when navigating. O ff C ourse Alarm allows you to set how far the boat is allowed to move of f course before the Off C ourse Alarm will sound.
80 Setup Menu T ab From any view , press the MENU key twice to access the tabbed Main Menu System, then press the RIGHT cursor k ey until the Setup tab is selected. NOTE: Menu choices will vary depending on system set tings such as whether the unit is set for Advanced User mode and what accessories are at tached to the unit.
82 Units - Speed Units - Speed selects the units of measure for speed-related readouts, and will appear in the menu if a T emp/Speed Accessory is connected and the paddlewheel has moved at least once, or if the GPS Receiver is connected. T o c hang e the Units - Speed set ting: 1.
84 83 T riplog Reset T riplog Reset resets the T riplog to zero , and will appear in the menu if a T emp/ Speed Accessory is connected and the paddlewheel has moved at least once, or if the GPS Receiver is connected. The T riplog provides the following information: timer for elapsed time, distance traveled since last reset, and average speed.
86 85 Depth Offset (Advanced) Depth Offset will adjust the digital depth readout to indicate depth fr om the waterline or boat's keel. Enter a positive vertical measurement fr om the transducer to the waterline to r ead the depth from the waterline.
88 87 Position Format (Advanced) Position Format selects the format of the latitude and longitude position display . This menu choice is available only when in Advanced User Mode (see Setup Menu T ab: User Mode ). T o c hang e the P osition F orma t setting: 1.

104 103 Time V ariable Gain: Time V ariable Gain is a processing step applied to the sonar r eturn to "normalize" the data so that objects of equal size (i.e. fish) appear to be the same size, even if they are separated by a good distance. Time V ariable Gain is a fundamental attribute of good sonar , but is often promot ed as a feature.
106 105 GPS & Navigation T erms: Acquisition Time: The length of time that a GPS receiver typically takes t o determine a position from at least three satellit es. Humminbird® GPS receivers provide very fast acquisition times (under one minute), permit ting users to get out on the water faster .
108 Time T o Go (TT G): Time T o Go is the estimated time r equired to reac h the destination waypoint. TT G is calculated using the SOG and D T G. See SOG and DTG . T rack: A T rack is a series of saved points that define the past path of the boat. These T rack Points are saved at regular time intervals.
110 109 W aypoint T arget: Waypoin t T arget is a Humminbird® feature that displays a pr ecise “bull’ s eye” around a selected waypoint. This bull’ s eye is used to easily monitor boat position relative t o a waypoint, and is useful for fishing over submer ged structure.
