18 Getting Started 1.2 Installing the SIM Card , Battery , and Stor age Card Always turn off your devic e before installing or remo ving the SIM card or battery. The SIM card contains y our phone number , ser vice details, and phonebook/ message memory.

52 Using Phone F eatures 3.1 Using the Phone Like a standard mobile phone, y ou can use your device to make, r eceive , and keep track of calls and send messages. Y ou can also dial directly from Contacts, and easily cop y phonebook entries from your SIM card t o Contacts on your device.
Using Phone F eatures 53 T o resume call function • T ur n on the phone function by tapping the Phone button again on the Comm Manager screen. The icon indicat es the phone function is turned on. Flight mode Another way to turn off the phone function is to switch your devic e to Flight mode .
54 Using Phone F eatures Notes • T o adjust the conversation phone volume , you must do it during a call. Adjusting the volume at another time will aff ect the ring, notification, and MP3 sound levels. • When you activate Vibrate mode, sound will automatically be muted and your device will vibrate when an inc oming call is received.
Using Phone F eatures 55 T o choose one of the numbers of a contact to dial By default, the mobile phone number (m) of a contact is dialed when you make a call from Contacts. How ever , you can specify that a differen t phone number is dialed instead.

If you are already on a call and accept the new call, y ou can choose to switch between the two callers, or set up a conferenc e call between all three parties.

When you start entering a phone number or contact name, Smart Dialing will automatically search and sort the contact entries on the SIM card, in Con tacts, and the phone numbers in Call History (including incoming, outgoing , and missed calls).

96 Exchanging Messages 7.1 Messaging Messaging is where your text messages (SMS), multimedia messages (MMS), and e-mails are located. When you rec eive new messages, you can open them from the T oday screen. Simply tap the type of message that you want to open.
