1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors have an ac tive matrix, thin-film tran sistor ( TFT) pan el. The monitor models and feature s include: ● LE190 1 w/LE190 1 wm models, 48.

2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If anot her cord is used, use only a power source and connection appr opriate for this monito r. For information on the correct power cord se t to use with th e monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Set Req uirements on page 36 in Appendix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance an d extend the life of the monito r: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the mo nitor, ensure that the power is turned off to the monito r, computer system, and other attached devices, th en follow the instructions below. Attaching the Monitor Base 1. Set the base on a flat surface such as a table top.

Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-ventilated location near the computer. 2. Connect a VGA sign al cable or DVI-D signal cable. NOTE: For models with both VGA and DVI-D connec tors, the monitor is capable of supporting either analog or digital i nput.
Turning on the Monitor 1. Press the power butt on on the compute r to turn it on. 2. Press the power button on the front of the monitor to turn it on. CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that display the same static image on screen for a prolonged period of time.
4. To attach the monitor to a swing arm, insert four 10mm screw s through the ho les on the swin g arm plate and into the mounting holes on the mo nitor.
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on th e monitor provide the spare part number, pro duct number, and serial numb er. You may need these numbers when contacting HP about the monito r model. The rati ng labels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor contain s files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Ima ge Color Ma tching) file ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the moni tor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you dete rmine that you nee d to update, you can in stall the .INF and .ICM files from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the co mputer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the com puter CD-ROM drive.
To use the au to-adjustment feature: 1. Allow the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before adjusting . 2. Press the -/Auto button on the monitor fron t panel. ● You can also press the Menu button, then select Image Control from the OSD Main Menu. Refer to Adjusting the Monitor Settings on pag e 15 in this chap ter.
Front Panel Controls Table 4- 1 Monitor F ront Panel Co ntrols Control Function 1 Menu Opens, selects or exits the OSD menu. 2 – (minus)/Auto ● If the OSD menu is on, press to navigate backward through the OSD menu and decrease adjustment levels.
Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjusted from th e On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or from the HP Display Assistant utility. NOTE: If there is a problem with the display settings, try resettin g the settings to the factory defaults by opening the O SD and selecting F actory Reset from the OSD m enu.
OSD Menu Selections The following table lists the On-Scre en Display (OSD ) menu se lections and their functi onal descriptions. After changing an OSD menu item, an d if the menu screen has the se options, you may cho ose to: ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description 9300 K Changes to slightly blueish white. 6500 K Changes to slightly reddish white. Custom Color Selects and adjusts your own color scales: ● R—sets your own re.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Power On Recall Restores power to the monitor following an unexpected removal of power. Select: ● On ● Off The factory default is On. Mode Display Displays the resolution, refresh rate an d frequency information on the screen each time the OSD Main Menu is accessed.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description Video Input Control (select models) Selects the video input signal. DVI is the factory default. Switch Video Input Selects the other (VGA or DVI) video input signal. Default is DVI. Auto-Switch Input Turns the system's automatic video signal input to on or off.
Optimizing Digital Conversion Two controls in the on- screen display can be adjust ed to improve image performanc e: Clock and Clock Phase. NOTE: The Clock and Clock Phase controls ar e adjustable only when using an analog input. These controls are not ad justab le for digital inputs.
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on th e monitor screen when identifying the following monitor conditions: ● Input Signa l Out of Rang e—Change re solution set ting to 1.
To set the timer: 1. Press the Menu button on the monito r front panel to display the OSD Menu . 2. Scroll down and hig hlight Manageme nt . 3. Press the Menu button to select Manag ement . 4. Scroll down and hig hlight and select Sleep Timer > Set Current Time .
HP Display LiteSaver HP Display LiteSaver is a software application, availabl e on the CD, that increases monitor life an d saves energy. It allows yo u to place the monitor into its low power sleep mo de at predefined ti mes by shutting down or reducing power to most internal circui ts.
sRGB Support The monitor is design ed to support sRGB for color manageme nt, which adapts to th e color standards used in the image technology industry. To take advanta ge of the sRGB support, yo u will need to change the monitor’s co lor temperature to sRGB and install the sRGB color profile (ICM) fi le.
8. Select the RGB Color Space Prof ile.icm file, then click the OK button. 9. To activate a color profile for the monitor, yo u mu st se t it as the Default M onitor Pro file.
