1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The flat panel monitors have an active matrix, thin-f ilm transistor (TFT), liquid crystal display (LCD). The monitor models and feature s include: ● L1750 model, 43.

2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If an other cord is used, u se only a power sour ce and connection appr opriate for this mon itor. For information on the correct pow er cord set to use w ith the monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Se t Requirements on page 52 in Appen dix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance and extend the life of the monitor: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the mon itor, computer system, and other attached devices, then foll ow the instructions below. Unfolding the Double-Hinged Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor from its box and place it o n a flat surface with th e display head fa cing up.
4. Using both hand s on the outer edg es of the display b ezel, pull up gently on the monitor display head (1) to extend the pedesta l base (2) to the desired height. CAUTION : Do not touch the surface of the LCD pane l. Pressure on the pane l may cause non- uniformity of colo r or disorientatio n of the liqu id cr ystals.
Unfolding the Single-Hinged Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor from its box a nd place it face down on a flat surface covered by a soft, clean cloth. 2. Hold down the monitor display head with one han d and unfold the b ase 90 degrees with th e other hand.

Cable Management Use the cable manag ement feature to secure and h ide your cables wh en viewed from the front. Before conn ecting the cables to monito r models with a single-hing ed base, route the ca bles through the hole in the center o f the moni tor stand.
Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monito r in a convenie nt, well-v entilated locatio n near the computer. 2. Connect a VGA sign al cable or DVI-D signal cab le. NOTE: For models with both VGA and DVI-D connec tors, the monito r is capable of su pporting either analog or digital input.
4. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to the USB hub connector on the rear panel of the computer, an d the other end to the upstream USB con nector on the monito r (on select models).
5. Connect one end of the p ower cable to the AC p ower connector on the back of the mon itor, and the other end t o an electric al wall outlet. Figure 3-9 Connecting the Power Cable Adjusting the Monitor NOTE: Your monitor model may look d ifferent than the model in the following illustration s.
2. Swivel the monito r to the left or right for the best viewing a ngle (select model s). Figure 3-11 Swiveling the Monitor 3. Adjust the monitor's height so that it is paralle l to your eye height for a comfortable viewing p osition (select models).
4. Pivot the monitor clockwise from landsca pe to portrait orien tation viewi ng to adapt to your application (select models). Figure 3-13 Pivoting the Monitor NOTE: To view informati on on the screen in portrait m ode, you will need to install the Pivot Pro software included on the softwar e and documentat ion CD.
Connecting USB Devices Two USB connector s (on select models) are used to connect devi ces such as a digital camera, USB keyboard, or USB mouse. NOTE: You must connect the USB hub cable from the mo ni tor to the computer to enable th e USB 2.0 ports on the monitor.
Removing the Monitor Pedestal Base You can remove the monito r panel from the pedestal b ase to install the panel on a wall , a swing arm, or other mountin g fixture. CAUTION: Before beginning to disassem ble the moni tor, be sure the monitor is turne d off and the power and signal cables are both disconne cted.

3. Place the optional HP Quick R elease onto the ba ck of the monitor. Line up the holes on the HP Quick Release with the mo unting holes on the back of the monitor. Figure 3-18 Mounting the HP Quick Release 4. Insert four 10mm screws into th e mounting holes and tighten.
6. Insert the monitor panel into the HP Quick Release, an d then press down firmly on the monitor to lock it in place. When the HP Quick Rel ease locks, it will make a clicking sound. Figure 3-20 Inserting the Monitor Panel in to the HP Qui ck Release 7.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that come s with the moni tor contai ns files you can in stall on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Image Color Match ing) file ● auto-adjust ment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you determi ne that you nee d to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM files from the CD or download the m. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD i n the computer CD-ROM d rive.
To use the auto-adjustme nt feature: 1. Allow the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before adjusting. 2. Press the -/Auto button on the mon itor front panel. ● You can also pres s the Menu button, then select Image Control from t he OSD Main Menu. Refer to Adjusting the Monitor Settings on pa ge 24 in this chapter.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjuste d from the On-Screen Display (O SD) menu or from th e HP Display Assistant utility. Using the On-Screen Display Menu Use the On-Screen Display (O SD) to adjust the screen image based on yo ur viewing preference s.
OSD Menu Selections The following table lists the On-Screen Display (OSD) me nu selections and their fun ctional descriptions. After changing an OSD menu item, and if the menu screen has these option s, you may choose to: ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description 9300 K Changes to slightly blueish white. 6500 K Changes to slightly reddish white. Custom Colo r Selects and adjusts your own color scales: ● R—sets your own re.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Descript ion Mode Display Displays the resolution, r efresh rate and frequency information on the screen each time the OSD Main Menu is accessed.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Default Video Input Selects the default or primary video input signal when the monitor is connected to two active and valid video sources. The monitor will automatically determine the video format. The default input selection is DVI.
Optimizing Digital Conversion Two controls in the on-screen displa y can be adjusted to improve image perfo rmance: Clock and Clock Phase. NOTE: The Clock and Clock Pha se controls are adjust able o nly when using an ana log input. These controls are not adjustab le for digital inputs.
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on th e monitor screen wh en identifying the follow ing monitor conditions: ● Input Signal Out of Ra nge—Change resolution setting to 12.
● Timer: On/Of f ● Sleep Now To set the timer: 1. Press the Menu button on the monitor front panel to display the OSD Menu . 2. Scroll down an d highlight Ma nagement . 3. Press the Menu button to select Managemen t . 4. Scroll down an d highlight an d select Sleep Timer > Set Current Time .
3. After installing the software, click the HP Display LiteSaver icon in the Windows system tray or right-click the icon and select Configur e from the pop-u p menu.

Recognizing Preset Display Resolutions The display resolutions listed below are the most co mmonly use d modes and are set as factory defaults. This monitor automatically recognized these preset modes and they will ap pear properly sized and centered on the screen.

Entering User Modes The video con troller signal may occasion ally call for a mode that is not prese t if: ● You are not using a stand ard graphics adapte r. ● You are not using a prese t mode. D LCD Monitor Quality and Pixel Policy The TFT monitor u ses high-precision techno logy, manufactured accordin g to HP standards, to guarantee trouble-free performanc e. Nevertheless, the display may have cosmetic imperfections that appear as small b right or dark sp ots.
