1 Product Features HP L1750 and L1950 The flat panel monitors have an active matrix, thin-f ilm transistor (TFT), liquid crystal display (LCD). The monitor features include: ● L1750 model, 17-in ch (43.2 cm) viewable area display with 1280 × 1024 resolution, plus full-screen support for lower resolutions ● L1950 model, 19-i nch (48.
● Software and documentation CD th at includes software, monitor drivers, an d product documentation ● Energy saver feature to meet requ irements for reduced power consumption ● Intelligent Ma n.
2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If anot her cord is used, use only a power source and connection appr opriate for this moni tor. For information on th e correct power cord set to use with th e monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Se t Requirements on page 40 in Appen dix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance an d extend the life of the monito r: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the mon itor, computer system, and other attached devices, then foll ow the instructions below. Unfolding the Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor from its box and place it o n a flat surface with th e display head fa cing up.
4. Using both hand s on the outer edge s of the display bezel, p ull up gently on the mon itor display head (1) to extend the pedesta l base (2) to the desired height. CAUTION : Do not touch the surface of the LCD pane l. Pressure on the pane l may cause non- uniformity of colo r or disorientatio n of the liqu id cr ystals.

Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monito r in a convenie nt, well-v entilated locatio n near the computer. 2. Connect a VGA sign al cable or DVI-D signal cab le. NOTE: For models with both VGA and DVI-D connec tors, the monito r is capable of su pporting either analog or digital input.
4. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to the USB hub connector on the rear panel of the computer, an d the other end to th e upstream USB connecto r on the monitor (on se lect models).
5. Connect one end of the p ower cable to the AC p ower connector on the back of the mon itor, and the other end t o an electrical wa ll outlet. Figure 3-6 Connecting the Power Cable 6. Place the cable s through the cab le managemen t channel on the side of the monitor b ase.
Adjusting the Monitor 1. Tilt the monitor's panel forward or backwar d to set it to a comfortable eye level. Figure 3-8 Tilting the Monitor 2. Swivel the monito r to the left or right for the best viewing a ngle (select model s).
3. Adjust the monitor's height so that it is parallel to your eye heig ht for a comfortable viewing positio n (select models). Figure 3-10 Adjusting the Height 4. Pivot the monitor clockwise from landsca pe to portrait orien tation viewi ng to adapt to your application (select models).
Turning on the Monitor 1. Press the power but ton on the compu ter to turn it on. 2. Press the power button on the front of the monitor to turn it on. CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that display the same static image on screen for a prolonged period of time.
Connecting USB Devices Two USB connectors (on se lect models) are u sed to conn ect devices such as a digita l camera, USB keyboard, or USB mouse. NOTE: You must connect the USB hub cable from the mon itor to the computer to enable th e USB 2.0 ports o n the monitor .
Using the Accessory Rails The monitor features accessory rails on the rea r th at can be used to mount op tional devices, such as the HP speake r bar, to attach to the LCD. Ref er to the documen tation included wit h the optional device for detailed mounti ng instructions.

3. Place the optional HP Quick Re lease onto the ba ck of the monito r. Line up the holes on the HP Quick Release wi th the mounting ho les on the back of the monitor. Figure 3-15 Moun ting the H P Quick Relea se 4. Insert four scre ws into the mounting h oles and tighten .
6. Insert the monito r panel into the HP Quick Relea se, and then press d own firmly on the monitor to lock it in place. When the HP Quick Rele ase locks, it will ma ke a clicking sound. Figure 3-17 Inserting the Monitor Panel into the HP Q uick Release 7.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor contain s files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Ima ge Color Ma tching) file ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you dete rmine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM file s from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the co mputer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the com puter CD-ROM drive.
Using the Auto-Adjustment Function You can optimize th e screen performance for the VGA (analog) input b y using the -/Auto button on the monitor and the auto-adjus tment pattern software ut ility on the CD provided. Do not use this procedur e if the monitor is using a DVI input.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjusted fro m the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or from the HP Displa y Assistant utility. Using the On-Screen Display Menu Use the On-Screen Display (OSD) to ad just the screen image based on your viewing prefer ences.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Contrast Adjustable scale Adjusts the contrast level of the screen . The factory default range is 80. Volume (select models with internal speakers) Adjusts the monitor 's speaker volu me level. The factory default range is 50.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Descript ion ● OSD Timeout-Sets the time duration in seconds that the OSD is visible after the last button is pressed. The factory default is 30 seconds. ● OSD Rotation (select models)-Rotates the OSD Menu to support pivot function.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Sleep Timer Provides the timer adjustment menu options: ● Set Current Time—sets the curren t time in hours and minutes ● Set Sleep Time—sets the time you wan.
Optimizing Digital Conversion This monitor contains advanced circuitry that allo ws th e flat panel screen to function like a standa rd monitor. Two controls in the on-screen display can be adjusted to impro ve image performance: Cloc k and Clock Phase.
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on th e monitor screen wh en identifying the follow ing monitor conditions: ● Input Signal Out of Ra nge—Change resolution setting to 12.
To set the timer: 1. Press the Menu button on the monitor front panel to display the OSD Menu . 2. Scroll down an d highlight Ma nagement . 3. Press the Menu button to select Managemen t . 4. Scroll down an d highlight an d select Sleep Timer > Set Current Time .

Installing the sRGB ICM File for Microsoft Wi ndows 2000 and Windows XP NOTE: To complete the following procedure, you must be logg ed in as an administrator or a memb er of the administrator’s group . If the computer is co nnected to a network, n etwork policy setti ngs may prevent you from completin g this procedure.
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following tabl e lists possible problems, t he poss ible cause of each problem, and the recommende d solutions. Problem Possible Cause Solution Screen is blank. Powe r cord is disconnected. Connect the power cord.
Problem Possible Cause Solution The HP Display LiteSaver may not be compatible with the computer system. Some notebook computers are not compatible and the monitor power can not be controlled. Confirm that the HP Display LiteSave r is compatible with the system.

Entering User Modes The video con troller signal may occasion ally call for a mode that is not prese t if: ● You are not using a stand ard graphics adapte r. ● You are not using a prese t mode. It this occurs, you may nee d to readjust the para m eters of the monitor screen by us ing the on-screen display.

D LCD Monitor Quality and Pixel Policy The TFT monitor u ses high-precision techno logy, manufactured accordin g to HP standards, to guarantee trouble-free performanc e. Nevertheless, the display may have cosmetic imperfections that appear as small b right or dark sp ots.
