55 Maintenance Spark Plug Checking Spark Plug For the re commende d spark plug, s ee “Specifications. ” P. 9 2 Use only th e recommend ed t y pe of spark plug in the recommen ded heat rang e. NOTICE Using spark plugs with an improper heat range can cause engine damage.
Side electrod e 56 Maintenance Spark Plug a Checking Spark Plug 3. Disconnec t the s park plug cap. 4. Clean any dirt from around the spark plug base. 5. Remove the spar k plug using a spark plug wrench. 6. Inspe c t the ele c trode s and centre porcelain for depo sit s, erosion o r carb on fouling.
57 Maintenance 9. With the p lug washer at tach ed, thread the spark plug in by hand to prevent cros s-threa ding. 10 . T ighten the spark p lug: ● If the old p lug is goo d: 1/8 turn after it s eat s ● If inst alling a new plug, tighten it t wice to prevent loose ning: a) First, tighten the p lug: NGK: 1/ 2 turn af ter it seat s.
58 Maintenance Engine Oil Checking the Engine Oil 1. Park your s cooter on it s centre st and on a firm, level sur face. 2. If th e engine is cold, idle the eng ine for 3 to 5 minutes. 3. Turn the ignitio n sw itch OFF , s top the engine and wait 2 to 3 minutes.

60 Maintenance Engine Oil a Changing Engine Oil,Cleaning Strainer Screen 3. Turn the ignitio n sw itch OFF , s top the engine and wait for 2 to 3 minutes. 4. Place a drain pan under the oil strainer screen c ap. 5. Remove the oil fill c ap/dipst ick, drain bolt and sealing washer to drain the oil.

63 Maintenance Inspecting the Brak e Pads Check the condition of the brake pad groove wear indicators. The pa ds nee d to be replaced if a brake pad is worn to the bot tom of the gro ove. 1. Inspe c t the brake pads from in front of the brake caliper .

Measure the dis tan ce of the rear brake lever before the s tar ts to t ake hold. Free play at t he ti p of th e brake lev er: 1 0 to 20 mm (0.
65 Maintenance 1. Adjust by turning the rear brake adjusting nut a half-turn at a time . 2. App ly the brake several times and che ck for free whe el rotation af ter th e brake lever is releas ed. 3. Push the brake arm to con firm that there is a gap bet we en the rear brake adjusting nut and brake arm pin.
66 Maintenance Inspecting the Brak e Shoe W ear The rear brake is equipped w ith a brake wear indicator . When th e brake is applied, an arrow att ached to the brake arm moves toward a reference mark on the brake panel. If the arrow aligns with the reference mark on full applicat ion of the brake, the brak e shoes must be rep laced.
67 Maintenance Side Stand 1. Park your s cooter on it s centre st and on a firm, level sur face. 2. Che ck that the side s tan d operates smoothly. If the side st and is sti ff o r squeak y , clean the pivot area and lubricate the pi vot bolt w ith clean greas e.
68 Maintenance Throttle Checking the Throt tle With th e engine of f , check that the throt tle rotates smo othly from fully clos ed to fully open in all s teering p ositions and throt tle freeplay is correc t.

74 Troubleshooting Electrical Trouble Batter y Goes Dead Ch arge the bat ter y using a m otorcycle bat ter y charge r . Remove the bat ter y from t he scooter w hile charging. Do not use an autom obile -t y pe bat ter y charger , as these can overh eat a scooter batter y and caus e permane nt damage.
75 Troubleshooting Electrical Trouble a Burned-out Light Bulb ❙ Headlight Bulb 4. Remove the s crews. 5. Remove the hea dlight case, then pull the socket off th e bulb withou t turning it. 1. Pull up the dus t covers . 2. Lo osen t he mirror adapter s.
