Space and Location Requir ements The most important consideration which must be taken into account when deciding upon the loca tion of air-cooled equipment is the provision f or a supply of ambient air to the condenser , and removal of heated air fr om the condenser area.
T ypical Arrangements Figur e 1 illustrates a typical piping arrangement inv olving a remote condenser locat ed at a higher elevation, as commonly encountered when the condenser is on a r oof and the compressor and receiver ar e on grade level or in a basement equipment room.
Electric al Wiring The electrical installation should be in accordance with National Electrical Code, local codes and regulations . Proper o vercurrent protection should be provided f or the fan motors. All standard motors hav e internal inherent ov erload protectors.

Start-Up Check for proper fan r otation. Air is drawn through the c oil on all units. Be sure the fans turn freely . Rotation of the motors and blades should be in a “CW ” direction looking at the unit from the blade side. On three phase units , it may be necessary to reverse two of the three po wer leads to the unit.
F an C ycling Head Pr essure C ontrols Condenser fans are cycled to maintain adequat e head pressure. Ambient and pressure fan cycling ar e available as optional equipment. Ambient fan cycling cycles fans in response to the ambient air temperature .

E Series Motors with Integra ted V ariable Speed E Series units use an EC motor/fan blade combination to pro vide variable speed condenser control . All components requir ed to run the motor at variable speeds ar e built into the motor . Speed Adjustment Char acteristics The EC motor varies it’ s speed linearly based on a 0-10V input signal.
Head Pressur e Setpoint The head pressur e setpoint potentiometer is adjustable from 90-250 psig . A typical setpoints are from 170-200 psig. Note: Very low setpoints may cause the fan motors t o run full speed continually if the condenser is not pr operly sized.
Master/Slav e Conguration The EC motor contr ol signals are wir ed in a Master/ Slave c onguration. This conguration allows f or the maximum sound and energy reduction as well as the most stable head pressure c ontrol. The contr ol signal is delivered t o the master motor (located at the header end of the unit).
