3 IMPORT ANT SAFETY INFORMA TION INST ALLER: Please read all instructions before servicing this equipment. P ay attention to all saf ety war nings and any other special notes highlighted in the man ual. Safety markings are used frequently throughout this manual to designate a degree or le vel of seriousness and should not be ignored.
4 GENERAL INFORMA TION This appliance has been tested f or capacity and efficiency in accordance with AHRI Standards and will provide many y ears of saf e and dependable comf or t, providing it is properly installed and maintained. Abuse, improper use, and/or improper maintenance can shorten the life of the appliance and create unsaf e hazards.

6 AIR HANDLER INST ALLA TION The HMG**F1E, HMG**X1E & HCG**V1E Series Air Handler is shipped ready f or vertical upflow installation and is approv ed for attic, basement, alco ve/closet or cra wlspace installation with zero clear ance to combustib les.

8 Refrigerant Line Connections W ARNING: The coil in the air handler is factory shipped with a nitrogen char g e. A void direct face e xposure or contact with v alve when gas is escaping. Alwa ys ensure adequate ventilation is present during the depressurization process.
9 Connecting the Linesets IMPORT ANT NO TES FOR HORIZONT AL OR DO WNFLO W INST ALLA TIONS WITH TXV V AL VE: • The sensing bulb m ust be located flush against the suction line for optim um heat transfer . • A void attaching the sensing b ulb to the lowest par t of the suction line where condensate may accum ulate .

Wrap the refrigerant lines with pressure sensitiv e neoprene or other suitable material especially where the lines enter the opening in the sheet metal.
11 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS W ARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK, FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARD Failure to follow safety warnings exactly could result in serious injury or property damage. Improper servicing could result in danger ous operation, serious injur y , death or property damage.
12 CA UTION: Isolation must be maintained from the e xternal Class 2 output of an y transformer in a cooling circuit. Use a thermostat with isolating contacts to prevent inter -connection of Class 2 outputs. • The ther mostat should be mountedabout 5 feet abov e the floor on an inside w all.
13 NO TE: V ariable speed air handlers cannot be twinned. Heater Kits When electric heat packages with circuit breakers are field-installed, the circuit breaker ma y be used as a disconnecting means in most applications. Ref erence the NEC and local codes f or disconnect requirements.
