Before wet sanding, remove the mask ing tape from the fretboard and c arefully scrape any ex ces s f inish off the fretboard with a razor blade or chisel held perpendicular to the sur face, as shown in Figure 8 .

Secure a 9 ⁄ 64 " drill bit in the drill press chuck, raise the table, and set the neck and fretboard down on top of a clean piece of scrap wood on the table.

Solder the audio jack wires onto the output jack, as shown in the Wiring Diagram o n Page 28 and the Elec trical Comp onents on Page 27 . 5. Insert the ground wire through the hole in the control cavit y and through the hole in the top of the body .

H8 1 80 / H8 1 8 1 Bass Guitar Kit - 21 - 3. Use the included 1.5mm hex wrench to adjust the saddle height setscrews ( Figure 35 ) until the string heights are correct. —Turn the screws clockwise to raise the height of the string saddle, thus increasing the string height.

These instructions explain how to tune by ear. You can also tune by using an electronic tuner such as the Grizzly H3097 Chromatic Tuner shown on Page 23 .
