Warnings 4 334599A W ARNING SKIN INJECTION HAZARD High-pressure spray is able to inject toxins into the body and cause serious bodily injury. In the event that injection occurs, get imm ediate surgical treatment. • Do not aim the gun at, or spray any pe rson or animal.
Repair 334599A 5 Repair Trigger Lock Always engage the trigg er lock when sprayer is stopped to prevent the gu n from being triggered accidentally b y hand or if dropped or bumped. Pressure Relief Procedure 1. Engage trigger lock. 2. Turn ON/OFF switch to OFF position.
Repair 6 334599A 6. Turn pressure contro l to lowest setting. Disengage trigger lock. 7. Hold a metal part of the gun firmly to a grounded metal pail. Trigger the gun to relieve pressure. 8. Engage trigger lock. 9. Open any fluid drai n valves in system.
Repair 334599A 7 Dissemble Pump 1. Remove packing nut and throat adjustm ent spacer. Retaini ng nuts are not removable and not sold separately. 2. Unscrew cylinder from intake valve. 3. Dissemble intake valve. Clean and inspect. O-ring may require a pick for removal.
Repair 8 334599A 4. Tap piston rod out of cylinder with a hammer or flip over and tap piston rod out against a bench. 5. Unscrew piston valve from piston rod.
Repair 334599A 9 6. Clean and inspect parts. (The piston has a special thread locking/seali ng patch. Apply thread sealant to the threads. 7. Remove and discard throat packing and glands from th e cylinder.
Repair 10 334599A Assemble Pump 1. Soak leather packings in SAE 30W oil for one hour before assembly. 2. Install ball in piston rod. If thread seal- ant is applied to piston valve threads, ensure that none gets on the ball. 3. Torque to 27 ± 3 ft-lb (37 ± 4 N•m).
Repair 334599A 11 4. Assemble leather thro at packings soaked earlier. 5. Loosely install packing nut with o-ring onto cylinder. 6. Apply liberal amounts of g rease or oil to piston packings. 7. Grease top inch or two of piston rod that will go through the cylinder throat packings.
Repair 12 334599A 8. Grease o-ring and place on outside diameter ring gro ove. 9. Clean seat thoroughly. Reassemble intake valve with a seat, ball, and new o-ring. Seat may be flipped over and used on other side. 10. Torque to 60 ± 5 ft-lb (81 ± 7 N•m).
Repair 334599A 13 11. Install o-ring on to packing nut. Torque to 75 ± 5 ft-lb (101.7 ± 6.8 N•m) or addi- tional 1/2 turn from hand tight. 12. Storage ti24900a ti24901a.
Repair 14 334599A Throat Packing Adjus tment When pump packings begin to leak after much use, perform Pressure Relief Procedure , pag e 5 and tighten p acking nut down until leakage stops o r lessens. This allows approximately 100 gallons of additional operation be fore a repacking is required.
