4 About User Manual This user ma nual mainly de scribes how to install and configure the Getnet GR-124W wireless router . 1 1 Overvi ew Thank you for choosing GETNET GR- 124W. GETNET GR-124W is fully comp atible with 802.11g standard . Meanwhile, it is also compatible with 802.11 standards and earlier 802.11 b st andards. GETNET GR-124W suppo rts CCK and OFDM and its data rate is up to 54 Mbps.
2 2 Hardwa re Desc ription and Hardware Installation 2.1 Front Panel and LED S t atus There are 8 LE D indicators on the front panel of GR-124W . By observing their status, you can judge whether the device runs normal ly . The following table describes the LE D ind icators on the fr ont panel.

Green Blin k Data is being transmitted. - Of f No LAN connection. 2.2 Rear Panel and Interface Description The following table describes the interfac es or the buttons on the rear panel: Interface/Button Description Reset Press the button for 3 seconds and then release it.
4 The power specification is 12V , 500 mA. If the power adapter d oes not matc h the specification, it may damage the device. 2.3 Hardware Inst allation 2.3.1 System Requirement s Before installing the device , please make sure that the following items are ready .
5 2.4 Operation Range The operation range of GR-1 24W depends on the actual environment. When th e device is placed in the house or in the office, the overall arrangements are different. So the pa th and effect for the signal tran smission are differen t.
6 3.1 TCP/IP Settings By default, the I P address of LAN inte rface of the GR- 124W is 192.168.1.1.The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. The DHCP Server is enabled. It is recommended you set the network adapter to be Obtain an IP address automatically . Your PC automati cally acquir es IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS address v ia the GR-124W.
7 Step3 Double click the Internet Pro tocol (T CP/IP) to display the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Propert ies pag e ..
8 Step4 Select Use the following IP address and enter the IP address of the network adapter . The IP address should belong to the IP network se gment 192.168. 1.X (X is a nu mber between 2 and 254). Step5 Set subnet mask and then click the OK b utton to finish manual setting.
9 Note: 192.168.1.1 is the default IP address of the LA N interface. If this IP address is changed and you need to pi ng the IP address of the GR-124W , you should ent er the current IP address in the dialog box above.
10 In the gateway mode, GR-124W provides 5 types uplink access modes, including ST A TIC (fixed IP), DHCP (Auto config), PPPoE (ADSL), L2TP , and PPTP .
11 Step5 On the Wide Area Network (W AN) Settings p age, s et the W AN Connection T ype to be PPPoE (ADSL) and enter the correct PPPoE username and password.

13 Network Connect ion icon and select View A v ailable Wireless Networks . Step2 On the Wireless Netw ork Connection page, click Refresh netw ork list and the network list will be refreshed. Th e default SSID of the G R-124W is Getne t . Choose the AP that you want to connec t, and then click the Connect button.
14 Step3 If the GR-124W is encr ypted, you need to enter the encr yp tion key in the field of network key and then click the Connect button. Step4 If the wir eless network card conne c ts to GR-124W successfu lly , the character Connected will appear in the AP ’s upper right corner .
15 Step5 If y ou are not sure of the SSID available, please lo g in to the Web page of AP , and view the SSID on the Basic Wireless Settings page. For more information abou t the wireless settings, plea se refer to 5.4 Wirele ss Settings (Gateway M ode).
16 Open the browser , and enter http://192.168.1.1/ in the IE address bar . Enter the user name ( admin , by defaul t) and the password ( admin , by default) on the login page.
17 4 Quick Start 4.1 Quick S t art in the Bridge Mode In the bridge mode, you may connect the LAN interfac es of the GR-124W or other wireless devices to a LAN. Click Operation Mode to display the Operation Mode Conf iguration pa ge . On the Operation Mo de Configurat ion page, choose t he Bridge mode, and the n click the Apply button .
18 On this page, enable the radio switch and se t at least one legal SSID. Make sure that the wireless devices can connect to the AP . After finish the s ettings, click the Appl y button to apply the settings.
19 If you want to co nfigure GR-124W wor kin g in gate way mode, do a s follows: Click Operation Mode to display the Operation Mode Conf iguration pa ge . On the Operation Mode Configuration page, choose the Gatew ay mode, and t hen click the Apply button .
20 In the table of NTP Settings , ch oose your time zone, en ter the NTP server address, and set the NTP synchroni zation time. Af ter finish setting, click the Apply button to apply the setti ngs, and then AP can synchronize it s time with the network time server .
21 On this page, you may manually enter the IP address. It is recommended you keep.
22 the default s etting. If you do not know the IP ad dress of the DNS server prov ided b y the ISP , please enable DNS Proxy and c hange your network setting. Assign the IP address of cur rent DNS server to be the LAN IP address of the GR-124W . If you use P2P sof tware, the UPnP function need s to be enabled.
23 On this page, it provides 3 types of network modes, includ ing 1 1 b/g mixed, 1 1 b only , and 1 1 g only modes. The default network mode is 1 1 b/g mixed mode. Y o u can set the SSID according to your actu al application. The maximum character length is up to 32 characters.
24 On this page, you can set the security mode. The secu rity modes include Open, Shared, WEP AUTO, WP A-Enterprise, WP A-PSK, WP A2-Enterprise, WP A2-PSK, WP A-PSK/WP A2-PSK, WP A1/WP A2-Enterprise, and Dynamic WEP 802. 1X. After finishing set ting, click the Apply button to app ly the s ettings.
25 On the Operat ion Mod e Configurat ion page, choose the WISP mode, and then click the Apply button . Click Wireless > Site Survey to display the St ation Sit e Survey page. O n t h i s p a g e , c h o o s e a n A P i n t h e Site Survey list, and then click the Connect button.
26 If this AP is not encrypt ed, you can click the Ap pl y button on the pop-up page to confirm the connection. If the AP that you want to connect is encrypted, you ne ed to ent er the key on the pop-up page. If the connection succeeds, th e SSID of the AP in the Site Survey list will be marked with an icon .
27 After finishing the connection, you may establish PPPoE, L2TP , P PTP , DHCP , and S tatic connections. For more deta ils, please refer to 5.3.2 W AN.

DHC P (Auto c onfig) On the Wide Area Network ( WAN) Settings page, select DHCP (Auto config) as the WAN connection type, and the following page a ppears.
38 PPPoE (ADSL) If you want t o use PPPoE service, please select PPPoE (AD SL) connection type. On the Wide Area Netw ork (WAN) Settings page, select PPPoE (ADSL) as the WAN connection type, and the following page appears. On this page, enter the user name and the password provided by the ISP, and set the value of the Keep Alive mode.
39 On this page, e nter the ser ver IP, the us ername, and the passwo rd provided by th e ISP. Set the IP address, the subnet ma sk, and the default gateway. When the Address Mode is Dyna mic , the IP address, the subn et mask, and the default gateway of the WAN interface are automati cally assigned by the DHCP server.

74 Step2 On this page, set the AP channel to acco rd with th e peer AP ( An AP that wants to connect to the GR-124W by WDS). Step3 On the Basic Wireless Settings page, set the WDS mode to be Repea ter Mode , set the physical mode and the encryp tion ty pe of AP to accord with that of peer AP, and th en enter the MAC address of the peer AP.
75 Step4 Click Wireless > Security to display the Wireless Security/Encryption Settings page . Step5 On this pa ge, set the sec u rity mode of the GR-124W to accord with the peer AP .
76 In the WDS mode, do not se t any mixed modes, for example, WP A-PSK /WP A2 -PSK. WDS Bridge Mode In the Bridge mode, you can use the GR -124W to connect to your router, f or extending wireless coverage. Me anwhile, it can also decrease the working load of the AP that accesses the Internet .
77 Step2 On the Basic Wireless Settings page, set the physical mode and the encryption type of AP to acco rd with that of peer AP, and then enter the MAC address of the peer AP. After finishing the settings, click the Apply button to apply the se ttings.
78 In the WDS mode, do not se t any mixed modes, for example, WP A-PSK /WP A2 -PSK. WDS Laz y Mode In the Lazy mode, the GR-124 W auto matical ly connects to the WDS devices that use the same SSID, channe l, encryption mode, and physica l mode. You do not need to manually enter other MA C addresses of peer APs.
79 Do not set all the WDS APs to be Lazy mode, please ensure that at least one WD S AP act s as Root Bridge , and enter the MAC addr esse s in the WDS table on the Basic Wireless Settings pa g e. Establishing a Network by WDS Bridge Mode The following description shows how to us e the WDS bridge modes of two devices to establish a network.

82 Step1 Click Internet > LAN to displa y the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings page. Set the IP address of AP2 to be 192.168.1.2 . Step2 On the Basic Wireless Settings page, set the WDS mode to be Br idge Mode and enter the MAC address of the AP1.
83 5.5.1 Profile Click Wireless > Profile to display the St ation Profile pag e . On this page, you can add a new pr ofile, dele te, edit, and active a preset profile in the profile list. Add a Profile Click the Add button on the Stat ion Profile page, a nd the Sy stem Configuration page appears.

90 On this page, you can view the scanned APs, scan the near by APs, connect an AP , o r add the connection pa rameters of an AP to the profile l ist. Connect an AP If you want to connect an AP, c hoose the AP’s SS ID, and then click the Connect button.

After cli cking the Apply button, and if this encrypt ed AP is connected successfully , the SSID of this AP is marked with a green icon . Scan AP s Click the Rescan button on the St ation Site Survey p age, and then you can r escan the nearby APs.
