20 T aking Pictures in M (Scene Recognition ) Mode 1 • When the side lever i s set to H , M or L , the side lever func tions as same as the zoom lever. • When set ting th e side lever to H , th e side lever can zoom faster . In the same way when setting the side lever to L , the side lever can zoom slower .

Smoothly press the shutter but ton the rest of the way down to take the picture. 2 The Shut ter Bu tto n The shutter but ton has two positions . P ressing the shutter button half way ( q ) sets focus and exposure; to shoot, press the shut ter but t on the rest o f the way down ( w ) .

3 1 Mor e on Phot ogra phy Shooting Mode r MOT ION PANORAMA 360 Follo w an on -scr een guide to tak e phot os that will aut omatically be joined to form a panorama. T he camera zooms all the way out and remains fixed at the widest angle u ntil shooting i s complet e.
3 2 Shooting Mode c • Panoramas are created from multiple f rames. The camera may in som e cases record a gre ater or lesser angle than selec ted or be unable to stitch the fram es together per fec tly . The last par t of the pano rama may not b e r e c orded if shooting ends before the panorama is complete.

36 Shooting Mode C : CUS TOM MODE In P , S , A and M modes, the K CUSTOM SET option in the shooting menu ( P 8 1 ) can be used to save curren t camera and menu set ti ngs. These set ting s are recalled whenev er the mode dial is rotat ed to C (c us- tom mode ).

40 Focus Lock Auto focu s Although the cam era b oasts a high- precision autofo - cus s ystem, it may be unable to focus on the subjec ts listed below . If the camer a is unable to focus u sing autofocus, use focus lock ( P 39) t o fo cu s o n another subjec t at the sam e distance and then recompose the photograph.

Choose from F ( macro mode) , G ( super macro mode) , or OFF ( macro mode of f ) When macro mo de is in effe ct, the camera focuses on subjects near the cent er of the f rame.
