Pronounces words aloud. Opens the Dynamic Pronunciation Guide. Goes to the word entry screen. At the word entry screen, changes the input language. Shows the Games menu. Lets you use your word list, change settings, or view a demonstration. Shows help messages.
Before you start, you should install new batteries and adjust the screen contrast. Note : Replace the batteries when the screen contrast is too light even after adjustment. When you remove batteries, stored information is erased. 1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.

If you misspell a word, the dictionary automatically shows you a list of spelling corrections. 1. Press CLEAR. 2. Press DICT , if necessary , to go to the English word entry screen. 3. T ype a misspelled word. For example, type jiraph . 4. Press ENTER.
If you want to learn the translation of a word that you see in a definition, you can highlight the word and then jump to its definition. 1. Press CLEAR. 2. Press DICT , if necessary , to go to the English word entry screen. 3. T ype a word. For example, type here .
Confusables are words that are spelled or sound alike that people often confuse. Note : Confusables are only available for English words and are listed in entries following the Spanish translation. 1. Press CLEAR. 2. Press DICT , if necessary , to go to the English word entry screen.
Conjugations show how a verb changes depending on its subject and tense. Note :A brief overview of conjugations is available for verbs and is listed in entries following the translation. 1. Press CLEAR. 2. Press DICT , if necessary , to go to the Spanish word entry screen.
The Dynamic Pronunciation Guide is a tool to help you learn how to say a word by hearing all the individual sounds that make up a word. This tool is available for both English and Spanish words. 1. Press CLEAR. 2. Press DICT , if necessary , to go to the Spanish word entry screen.
Y ou can save as many as 80 total words for study and review in separate English and Spanish word lists. Y ou can add words to the lists that are not found in this dictionary , but they take up more space. T o Add a Word to Y our List 1. Press CLEAR. 2.
Y ou can also type a word, press ENTER to see the definition and then press LIST . Note : Y ou can also add highlighted words in definitions or spelling correction lists. T o learn how to highlight a word in a definition, see “Jumping to a Word” on page 8.

The dictionary can pronounce any headword or highlighted word. Just press the SPEAK key whenever you want to hear a word. T o adjust the volume, turn the volume control wheel on the side of the dictionary . Y ou can plug headphones into the headphone jack on the other side to listen by yourself.
Y our dictionary has five fun word games. Y ou can choose a skill level ( Easy or Hard ), which game words ( All or Y our List ) to use, and what language ( English or Spanish ) to use. 1.
