PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION Airbag s W ARNINGS Do not modify the front of y our vehicl e in any w ay . This c oul d adver sel y aff ect deplo yment of the airbags.
The side airba gs will depl oy during significant la ter al collisions. Only the airbag on the side aff ec ted b y the collision will deplo y . The airbag s will infla t e within a fe w thousandths of a sec ond and defl at e on conta ct with the occupant s, thus pro viding prot ection f or the chest and shoul der are as.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION The engine immobiliser is a the ft prot ection sys tem tha t pre vents s omeone from starting the engine with an inc orrec tly coded k ey . C ODED KEY S Note: Do not shield y our ke ys with me tal object s. This ma y pre vent the re ceiv er from rec ognising your k ey a s a valid one.
ARMING THE ALARM The s yst em is armed a s soon as the v ehicl e is lock ed and a cts a s a det errent t o unauthorised persons who a ttempt to open the doors, bonne t or lugg ag e compartment, or remo ve the audio s yst em. The al arm sounds f or 30 sec onds if an unauthorised person opens a door , the lugg ag e comp artment or the bonnet.
Britain and Ireland onl y If the vehicl e is unl ocke d using the ke y blade , a 12 sec ond del ay chime st arts as soon as the driv er ’ s door is opened .
ADJU S TING THE S TEERING WHEEL W ARNING Nev er adjust the st eering wheel when the vehicl e is mo ving. Note: Make sure tha t you ar e sitting in the corre ct position.

Engine warning lamp If it illumina t es with the engine running, this indica t es a malfunction. If it fla shes when you ar e driving, reduc e the speed of your vehicl e immediat ely . If it continue s to fla sh, a void he avy a cc el era tion or decel eration.
Po wer s teering warning lamp It illumina t es to indic a te a malfunction of the po w er ste ering syst em. Full st eering will be maintained but y ou will need t o ex ert gre at er f orc e on the ste ering wheel. Ha ve the sys tem check ed b y a properl y trained technician a s soon as possible .
Lights on A warning chime will sound if the driv er ’ s door is opened with the ex terior light s swit ched on and the ignition swit ched off . Low fuel A warning chime will sound a t the foll o wing rang es: 80 km (50 mil es), 40 km (25 mil es), 20 km (12 mil es), 0 km ( 0 mile s).

MANUAL SEA T S All v ehicles W ARNINGS Do not use any accessory sea t cov ers that are not specific ally designed f or sea ts with side airbag s. T hese sea t co ver s must be fitt ed by pr operl y traine d technicians. Do not adjust the sea ts while the vehicl e is mo ving.
Adjusting the angl e of the seatback E70731 When the sea ts ar e slid full y forw ard the sea tback s can be full y r eclined.
