E205021 E206122 The LA T CH anchors are l oca ted a t the rear section of the r ear sea t betwe en the cushion and sea tback, bel ow the l ocat or symbols on the se atback. Follow the chil d sea t manufac turer ’ s instructions t o properl y install a chil d seat with LA T CH at tachments.
Some of the r ear sea ts of your v ehicle are equipped with buil t-in tether str ap anchors loc at ed behind the sea ts as describe d belo w . In the third r ow cent er sea ting position, the te ther anchor is a loop a t the bottom of the sea tback. The t ether strap anchor s in your vehicl e are in the f ollo wing positions (shown from top vie w).
1. For cent er sea ting positions, rout e the child s af ety sea t tether str ap ov er the back of the sea t. For outboar d seating positions, rout e the te ther strap under the head r estraint and bet ween the head r estraint post s. If the top of the sa fety se at hits the he ad restr aint, recline the se at back slightl y to obt ain proper fit.

T o reduc e the risk of injury , make sure chil dren sit where the y can be properl y restr ained. Nev er let a pa ssenger hol d a child on his or her lap whil e the vehicl e is moving.
The sa fe ty belt pr etensioners a t the front sea ting positions are designed t o tighten the sa fety bel ts when activ at ed. In fr ontal and near-fr ontal cra shes, the sa fety bel t pret ensioners may be a ctiva ted al one or , if the cra sh is of sufficient sev erity , tog ether with the front airba gs.
Pr egnant women shoul d alw ays w ear their sa fety bel t. The l ap belt portion of a combina tion lap and shoul der belt shoul d be positioned l ow acro ss the hips belo w the belly and w orn as tight a s comf ort will allo w . T he shoulder bel t should be positioned t o cross the middle of the shoulder and the c enter of the chest.
How t o Use the Automatic Locking Mode E142591 1. Buckle the c ombination l ap and shoulder bel t. 2. Gra sp the shoulder portion and pull downw ard until the entire bel t is pulle d out. Allo w the belt t o retr act. As the bel t retr acts, you will hear a clicking sound .
Sec ond Row C omfort Guide W ARNING Po sition the saf ety bel t comfort guide so tha t the belt re sts across the middle of y our shoulder . Fail ure to adjus t the saf ety bel t properly c ould reduc e the effe ctiveness of the sa fet y belt and incre ase the risk of injury in a cra sh.
Conditions of oper ation Then... If... The sa fe ty belt w arning light illuminat es 1- 2 minutes and the w arning chime sounds 4-8 seconds. The driv er's saf ety bel t is not buckled bef ore the ignition swit ch is turned to the on position... The sa fe ty belt w arning light and warning chime turn off.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION W ARNINGS Airbags do not infl at e slo wly or gentl y , and the risk of injury fr om a deplo ying airbag is the gre at est close to the trim c overing the airb ag module .
Res traint Safe ty Sy st em The r estraint sa fe ty syst em provide s an impro ved o verall l evel of fr ontal cra sh prot ection to fr ont sea t occupants and is designed t o help further reduce the risk of airbag-r elat ed injuries.

W ARNINGS Do not at tempt to servic e, r epair , or modify the airbag, it s fuses or the sea t cov er on a sea t containing an airbag a s you coul d be seriousl y injured or kille d. C ontact your a uthorized deal er as soon as possibl e. If the side airbag ha s deplo yed , the airbag will not function a gain.
W ARNINGS T o reduc e risk of injury , do not obstruct or pl ace objec ts in the deplo yment path of the curt ain airbag. If the curtain airba gs hav e deploy ed, the curtain airba gs will not function again. The curtain airba gs (including the A, B and C pill ar trim and headliner) must be inspect ed and serviced b y an authorized de aler .
Y our vehicl e has a c ollec tion of crash and occupant s ensors which pro vide informa tion to the r estraints c ontrol module which depl oy s (activa tes) the front sa fe ty belt pr etensioners, driver airbag, pa ssenger airba g, sea t mounted side airbags, and the Saf ety Canop y®.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION The r emote contr ol allo ws you t o: • R emotel y lock or unl ock the vehicl e doors. • Unlock the door s without activel y using a ke y or remote c ontrol (int elligent acc ess onl y). • R emotel y open the power lift ga te (if equipped).
REMOTE C ONTROL Integr ated K eyhead Transmit ter (If Equipped) E210695 Use the ke y blade t o start your v ehicle and unlock or l ock the driver door fr om outside your v ehicle. Y ou can also use the k ey blade t o lock and unl ock the gl ove compartment.
Repla cing the Battery Note: Ref er to l ocal reg ulations when disposing of tr ansmitter ba tteries. Note: Do not wipe off any gre ase on the bat tery terminal s or on the back surfac e of the circuit boar d. Note: Repl acing the batt ery does not er ase the progr ammed ke y from your vehicl e.
4. Insert a new ba ttery with the + f acing downw ard. Press the b att ery down to make sur e it is fully in the housing. 5. Reinstall the ba ttery housing c ov er onto the tr ansmitter and inst all the key blade . Car Finder E138623 Pr ess the button twic e within three se conds.
T o start your v ehicle r emotel y: 1. Pr ess the lock butt on to l ock all the doors. 2. Pr ess the remote st art button t wice. The e xterior l amps fla sh twice. The horn sounds if the s ystem f ails t o start, unle ss quiet start is on. Quiet st art runs the blo wer f an at a sl ow er speed to r educe noise.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION MyK ey all ows y ou to progr am ke ys with restric ted driving modes t o promote g ood driving habits. All but one of the k eys progr ammed to the v ehicle can be activ ate d with these restrict ed modes. Any k eys tha t have not be en programmed are r eferr ed to a s administra tor k eys or admin k eys.
• V arious v ehicle speed minder s can be set. Onc e you sel ect a speed , it will be shown in the displ ay , f ollo wed b y an audibl e tone when the presel ect ed vehicl e speed is ex ce eded. • Audio sy stem maximum v olume of 45%. A mess age will be sho wn in the displa y when you a ttempt t o ex ceed the limited v olume.
Note: Y ou can cle ar or change your MyK ey setting s at any time during the s ame key cycl e a s you crea ted the MyK e y . Once y ou hav e switched the v ehicle off , how ever , you will need an admin k ey t o change or cl ear your MyK e y settings.
CHECKING MYKEY S Y S TEM S T A TUS Y ou can find inf ormation on progr ammed MyK ey(s) using the inf ormation displ ay contr ol on the steering wheel. See Information Displa ys (pa ge 92). T o find informa tion on programmed MyK ey(s), press the left arro w button t o acc ess the main menu and scroll to: Description Messag e Pr ess the OK button.
USING MYKEY WITH REMOTE S T ART S YS TEMS V ehicles W ith Ford-Approv ed A ftermarke t Remote S tart S yst ems When using a Ford-appr ov ed aft ermarket remot e start sys tem, the v ehicle re cognizes the remot e start sys tem transmit ter as an additional admin k ey .

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING Y ou can use the po wer door l ock control or the remot e control t o lock and unl ock your v ehicle. Po wer Door Locks The po wer door l ock control is on the driv er and front pa ssenger door panels. A B E163049 Unlock. A Lock.
At the Lift gat e The lift ga te unlock s and opens automa ticall y when you pre ss the liftga te rel ea se button. Smart Unl ocks for Int egrat ed K eyhead T ransmitter (If Equipped) This helps t o prev ent you from l ocking your self out of your v ehicle if the k ey is still in the ignition.
Autounl ock Aut ounlock unl ocks all the doors when all of the foll owing oc cur: • The ignition is on, all the door s are clos ed, and y our vehicl e has been moving a t a speed gre at er than 12 mph (20 km/h). • Y ou stop y our vehicl e and switch the ignition off or to ac cessory .
Note: Be careful when opening or cl osing the liftg at e in a gara ge or other encl osed area t o avoid dama ging the liftga te. Note: Do not hang anything, f or exampl e a bike r ack, from the gl ass or lift gat e. T his coul d damage the lift ga te and its components.
Closing the Lift gat e E209082 A handle is l oca ted inside the lift ga te to help with closing. POWER LIFT GA TE (If Equipped) W ARNINGS It is extr emely dang erous t o ride in a car go are a, inside or outside of a vehicl e. In a cr ash, peopl e riding in these are as ar e more likel y to be seriousl y injured or kill ed.
Opening and Closing the Lift gat e W ARNING Make sur e all persons are cl ear of the pow er liftga te ar ea bef ore using the pow er liftga te c ontrol. Note: Be careful when opening or cl osing the liftg at e in a gara ge or other encl osed area t o avoid dama ging the liftga te.

Y ou can use the k eypad t o lock or unl ock the doors without using a k ey . For vehicl es without intellig ent acc ess, you can oper at e the keypad with the fa ctory-set 5-digit entry c ode. T he code is loc at ed on the owner ’ s w allet c ard in the glo ve bo x and is avail able fr om an authorized de aler .
Displaying the F actory S et Code Note: Y ou will need to ha ve two progr ammed passive anti-the ft ke ys for this proce dure. T o display the f act ory-set code in the informa tion displa y: 1. Insert a ke y into the ignition and swit ch the ignition on for a f ew sec onds.
P AS SIVE ANTI-THEFT S Y S TEM Note: The sy stem is not c ompatibl e with non-Ford a ftermarke t remot e start sy stems. Use of these s ystems ma y resul t in vehicl e starting probl ems and a l oss of security prot ection.

USING PO WER RUNNING BO ARDS W ARNINGS In extr eme climat es, ex cessiv e ice buildup ma y occur , causing the running boards not t o deplo y . Make sure tha t the running boards hav e deplo yed , and hav e finished moving bef ore at tempting to st ep on them.
• When disabl ed ( OFF ), the running boards mo ve to the s tow ed position reg ardl ess of the door position. • When enabl ed ( AUTO ), the running boards mo ve back t o the corre ct positions bas ed on the door position.
ADJU STING THE S TEERING WHEEL - VEHICLES WITH: C OLUMN SHIFT /MANUAL ADJU ST ABLE S TEERING C OLUMN W ARNING Do not adjust the st eering wheel when your v ehicle is mo ving. Note: Make sure tha t you are sitting in the corre ct position. S ee Sitting in the Correc t Position (pag e 122).

End of Tr avel P osition The st eering col umn sets a st opping position just short of the end of the col umn position to pr event dama ge to the st eering col umn. A new st opping position sets if the ste ering column enc ounters an objec t when tilting or t ele scoping.

ADJU STING THE PED ALS W ARNING Nev er use the controls whil e your fe et are on the ac celer at or and brak e pedals and the v ehicle is mo ving. Y ou can find the c ontrol on the le ft side of the ste ering column. P ress and hol d the appropria te side of the c ontrol to mo ve the pedals.
WINDSHIELD WIPER S Note: Fully defr ost the windshield be fore you s witch the windshiel d wipers on. Note: Make sure y ou switch the windshiel d wipers off be fore ent ering a car wa sh. Note: Clean the windshiel d and wiper blade s if they begin t o lea ve stre aks or smears.
K eep the outside of the windshiel d clean. The r ain sensor is very sensitiv e. If the are a around the mirr or is dirty , then the wipers may oper at e if dirt, mist or insects hit the windshield . WINDSHIELD W ASHERS Note: Do not opera te the wipers on a dry windshield .
GENERAL INF ORMA TION Condensa tion in L amp Assemblies Ext erior lamps ha ve vents t o acc ommodat e normal changes in air pressur e. Condensa tion can be a na tural b y-product of this design. When moist air ent ers the lamp a ssembly thr ough the vents, there is a possibility tha t condensa tion can occur when the temper atur e is cold .
Headlamp Flasher E163268 Slightly pull the l ev er tow ard you and rel ea se it to fla sh the headl amps. AUT OLAMPS W ARNING The aut olamps s witch position may not activ ate the he adlamps in all l ow visibility conditions, such as da ytime fog.
INS TRUMENT LIGHTING DIMMER E163270 Use to a djust the brightness of the instrument panel and all applicabl e lit components in the v ehicle during headl amp and parking lamp oper ation.
3. T he transmission is not in park (P) f or vehicl es with automa tic transmissions or the parking brak e is rel ea sed for vehicl es with manual transmissions.
INTERIOR LAMPS Front R ow Map Lamps (If Equipped) Pr ess the switches on either side of e ach map lamp t o turn on the lamps. T he map lamps light when: • any door is opened . • the instrument panel dimmer swit ch is presse d up until the courtes y lamps come on.
Rear C argo Lamp The r ear car go lamps light when: • any door is opened , and the switch is in the middle position. • the instrument panel dimmer swit ch is presse d up until the courtes y lamps come on. • any of the remot e entry contr ols are presse d and the ignition is off (and the swit ch is in the middle position).
POWER WINDO W S W ARNINGS Do not le ave chil dren una ttende d in your v ehicle and do not l et them pla y with the pow er windows. They ma y seriousl y injure themselv es. When cl osing the power windo ws, you shoul d verify they ar e free of obstructions and mak e sure that childr en and pets are not in the pr oximit y of the window openings.
EXTERIOR MIRR ORS Po wer Ext erior Mirrors W ARNING Do not adjust the mirror s when your vehicl e is moving. E163059 B A C Le ft-hand mirror . A Off. B Right-hand mirror . C T o adjust a mirror: 1. Sel ect the mirror y ou want t o adjust. 2. Mov e the control in the dir ection you want t o tilt the mirror .
Heated Ex terior Mirror s See Hea ted Windo ws and Mirror s (page 121). Memory Mirrors (If Equipped) Y ou can sa ve and re call the mirror positions through the memory func tion. See Memory Func tion (page 126). Auto-Dimming Fea ture The driv er ext erior mirror aut omaticall y dims with the auto-dimming int erior mirror .
The r ear view mirror ma y hav e to be adjust ed to its l ow er arm position to prev ent interf erence when the chil dminder mirror is e xtended do wn. REAR QUAR TER WINDOW S (If Equipped) W ARNINGS Do not le ave chil dren una ttende d in your v ehicle and do not l et them pla y with the pow er windows.
W ARNINGS When cl osing the moonroof, you should v erify that it is fr ee of obstructions and mak e sure that childr en and pets are not in the pr oximit y of the roof opening. Y ou can manuall y open or close the sliding shade when the moonroof is cl osed .

V ehicle Setting s and Personalization See Gener al Information (pag e 92). Fuel Gauge Note: The fuel gau ge may v ary slightly when your vehicl e is moving or on a gr adient. S witch the ignition on. T he fuel gaug e indica tes appr oxima tel y how much fuel remains in the fuel tank.

W ARNING LAMPS AND INDIC A TORS The f ollo wing warning lamp s and indica tors al ert you t o a vehicl e condition that ma y become serious. Some lamps illumina te when y ou start your v ehicle t o make sur e they work. If any lamps r emain on aft er starting your v ehicle , ref er to the respec tive sy stem warning l amp for further informa tion.
Engine Oil If it illumina tes with the engine running or when you ar e driving, this indica tes a mal function. St op your vehicl e as s oon as it is sa fe t o do so and swit ch the engine off. Check the engine oil le vel. S ee Engine Oil Check (pag e 245).
Servic e Engine Soon If the service engine soon indica tor light sta ys illumina ted aft er you start the engine , it indica tes tha t the On Board Diagnostic s sys tem (OBD ) has det ect ed a malfunction of the vehicl e emissions contr ol syst em.
