3 -EN Never Attempt the Following Do not grip or pull out the disc while it is being pulled back into the player by the automatic reloading mechanism. Do not attempt to insert a disc into the unit when the unit power is of f. Inserting Discs Y our player accepts only one disc at a time for playback.
4 -EN Basic Operation PO WER MODE/A udio Control RESET ANGLE 8 9 Detaching the Fr ont P anel 1 Press and hold the PO WER button f or at least 2 seconds to turn off the power . 2 Press the (Release) button at upper left side until the front panel pops out.
5 -EN Displa y Angle Adjustment The mo vab le display ma y be adjusted to 3 diff erent angles depending upon user pref erence. 1 Press the ANGLE 89 button to adjust the angle of the mov able displa y . NOTES • The display will close a half minute after the ignition ke y is turned to the OFF position.
6 -EN SETUP TUNE g DN f UP MODE/Audio Contr ol → SUB-W → BALANCE V OLUME ← F ADER ← Subw oofer On and Off 1 Press and hold the SETUP button f or at least 2 seconds. 2 Press the f UP button repeatedly to select “ SUB-W . ” 3 Press the TUNE button to toggle mode between SUB-W ON and SUB-W OFF .
7 -EN Switching the Phase of the Subw oofer Output Y ou can switch the phase of the subwoof er output to NORMAL 0 ˚ or REVERSE 180 ˚ . T o select the desired phase. 1 Press and hold the SETUP button f or at least 2 seconds. 2 Press the f UP button to select “ Switching the phase of the SUB-W (SUB-W NORMAL or REVERSE) mode.
8 -EN Basic Operation SOURCE TUNE SETUP g DN f UP 4 When the setting is completed, press the SETUP button to return to the nor mal mode . NO TES • Initial mode is “SCR OLL MANU. ” • The unit scr olls CD text names, folder names, file names or ID3 tag display .
9 -EN 4 Press the SETUP button again to return to normal operation. 3 Press the TUNE button to toggle the mode between A UX IN ON and A UX IN OFF . NOTES • The initial setting at the factory is A UX IN OFF .
10 -EN Blac kout Mode On and Off When the Black out mode is turned on, the display will turn off to reduce power consumption. This additional power enhances the sound quality . 1 Press and hold the B.OUT b utton for at least 2 seconds to star t the b lack out mode.
11 -EN Displa ying the Title/T ext It is possible to display the CD title if the title has been previously inputted. For details , see “ Titling Discs ” (page 12). T ext inf ormation, such as the disc name and the track name, will be displa yed if playing a CD te xt compatible disc.
12 -EN BAND g DN f UP TITLE MODE/A udio Control - / J Basic Operation Titling Discs It is possible to title y our fa vourite CD's. 1 Press the TITLE b utton and select the title displa y mode. F or details, see “ Displaying the Title/T ext ” (page 11).
13 -EN Radio Operation SOURCE B AND g DN f UP TUNE Preset buttons (1 thr ough 6) Manual T uning 1 Press the SOURCE button until a r adio frequency appears in the display .
14 -EN Radio Operation SOURCE B AND A.ME Preset buttons (1 thr ough 6) Man ual Storing of Station Presets 1 Select the radio band and tune in a desired radio station you wish to store in the preset memory . 2 Press and hold any one of the Preset buttons (1 through 6) f or at least 2 seconds until the station frequency on the displa y blinks .
15 -EN Setting RDS Reception Mode and Receiving RDS Stations The RDS (Radio Data System) is a radio inf or mation system using the 57 kHz subcarrier of regular FM broadcast.
16 -EN RDS Operation Recalling Preset RDS Stations 1 Press the " F " b utton. The indicator will illuminate. 2 Press the AF b utton to activate the RDS mode . The displa y shows "AF" when the RDS mode is activ ated. 3 Press the " F " button to activ ate the nor mal mode.
17 -EN Receiving T raffic Inf ormation 1 Press the T .INFO button to activ ate the T raffic Inf or mation mode . T o cancel the T raffic information mode, press the T .INFO button again. 2 Press the g DN or f UP button to select your desired tr affic information station.
18 -EN RDS Operation Receiving T raffic Information While Pla ying CD or Radio 1 Press the T .INFO b utton repeatedly until the T .INFO indicator appears in the display . 2 Press the g DN and f UP b uttons to select a traffic inf or mation station if necessar y .
19 -EN 4 Press the P . PTY button to activate the PRIORITY PTY mode again. • T o change the programme categor y , perform the step 3. • T o disable the PRIORITY PTY function, press and hold the P . PTY b utton for at least 2 seconds. NO TE In the PRIORITY PTY function, unlike in the T .
20 -EN CD Player Operation SOURCE c - / J Insert a disc with the label side facing up. f UP g DN REPEA T Pla ybac k 1 Press the c button. The mov able display will open. 2 Inser t a disc with the label side f acing up . The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically .
21 -EN Music Sensor (Skip) 1 Momentarily press the g DN button once during CD play to return to the beginning of the current trac k. If you wish to access the beginning of a track further back, repeatedly press until you reach the desired tr ack. Press the f UP b utton once to advance to the beginning of the ne xt trac k.
22 -EN CD Player Operation SOURCE F Select buttons (1 thr ough 6) B AND M.I.X. (Random Play) 1 Press the M.I.X. button in the pla y or pause mode. The trac ks on the disc will be play ed back in a random sequence . After all the trac ks on the disc hav e been pla yed bac k once, the pla yer will begin a new r andom sequence play until the M.
23 -EN Contr olling CD Changer (Optional) An optional 6-disc or 12-disc CD Changer may be connected to the CD A-7878R if it is Ai-NET compatible . With a CD Changer connected to the Ai-NET input of the CD A-7878R, the CD Changer will be controllable from the CD A-7878R.
24 -EN Playing MP3 Files Y ou can play CD-R OMs, CD-Rs , and CD-RWs containing MP3 files on this unit. Use the f or mat compliant with ISO 9660 le vel 1 or lev el 2. For further information about pla ying or storing MP3 files, ref er to pages 26-27 before using the unit.
25 -EN M.I.X. (Random Play) 1 Press the M.I.X. button in the pla y or pause mode. The files or trac ks on the disc will be play ed back in a random sequence. After all the files and tracks on the disc ha ve been pla yed bac k once, the pla yer will begin a ne w random sequence play until the M.
26 -EN Setting the Range of MP3 File Selection Y ou can set the range of MP3 file selection to “ entire disc contents ” or “ f older contents only . ” 1 Press and hold the SETUP button f or at least 2 seconds. 2 Press the f UP b utton repeatedly to select DISC/FOLDER (trac k selection range).

28 -EN Adjusting the Sound Operation MODE/A udio Control f UP g DN DHE Preset buttons (1 thr ough 6) DSP Selecting DHE Mode Using digital signal processing technology , DHE (Digital Harmonics Enhancer) operates on harmonic components which determine tone and coloration of the musical instruments.
29 -EN Adjusting and Storing the Equalizer Cur ve Y ou can modify the Equalizer settings to create a response cur v e more appealing to your personal taste. 1 Select the equalizer characteristic to adjust. See "Equalizer Presets" (on page 28).
30 -EN Adjusting the Sound Operation The Crosso ver/Time Correction Crosso ver: This unit is equipped with an Active Crosso ver . The crossov er limits the frequencies delivered to the outputs. Each channel is controlled independently . Thus, each speak er pair can be driven b y the frequencies f or which they ha ve been optimally designed.

40 -EN Information Indication for CD Pla yer • Protectiv e circuit is acti vated due to high temperature. - The indicator will disappear when the temperature returns to within operation range. • No CD is inserted. - Insert a CD. • Although a disc is inserted, “ NO DISC ” is displayed and the unit does not start to play or eject the disc.
