1 Setting Up the Projector 5 22 Setting Up th e Projector This chapter tells yo u how t o unpack your projec tor and s et it up for a presentati on. The projec tor must be conn ected to a computer or a video source such as a DVD player, VCR, camcorder, dig ital camera, or other vi deo d evice be fore it c an projec t image s.
6 Setting Up the Projector Additional Components Depending on how you use the pr ojector, yo u may need these additional co mponents: ■ To receive an S-Vi deo signal, you need an S -Video cabl e (usually provid ed wi th your video de vice ).

Your image size may not exactly match these sizes; its actua l siz e dep ends on wheth er yo u ha ve ad just ed the image size setting (using keys tone correc tion or the Wide/Tele butto n).

Setting Up the Projector 11 Connecting the Mouse Cable To use the remote control as a wireless mouse, you need to connect a mouse cable: either the round PS/2 or the flat USB mous e cable. 1. To connect the pro jector to your Pow erBook, you need to use the com puter cable. If yo u’ll be using the remote contro l as a wireless mouse, you need to connect a mouse cable.
Setting Up the Projector 15 Connecting the Mouse Cable To use the remote control as a wireless mouse, you need to connect the USB mouse cab le. 1. Connect on e end of the USB mo use cable to the USB Mouse por t on the projec tor. 2. Connect the other end to the USB port on your P owerB ook.
16 Setting Up the Projector Connecting to a Macinto sh Desktop Compu ter To connect the pr ojector to yo ur desktop Macintosh , you need to use the computer cable. If you’ll be us ing the remote control as a wireless mouse, you need to connect a mouse cab le.
Setting Up the Projector 17 Connecting the Mouse Cable To use the remote control as a wireless mouse, you need to connect the USB mouse cab le. 1. Connect on e end of the USB mo use cable to the USB Mouse por t on the projec tor. 2. Connect the other end to the USB po rt on your Ma cintosh.

Connecting to Video Sources You ca n con nect a DVD pla yer, V CR, camc ord er, la ser di sc pla yer, digit al camer a, or an y othe r compat ible vid eo sour ce to yo ur proj ector.
Setting Up the Projector 19 Connecting an S-Video C able If your video source ha s an S-Video jack (as shown with an S-Video plug to the right), you c an use it to project a higher quality video image. Ho wever, you’ll ne ed an S-Vide o cable, which may be i ncluded with your video source or may be purchased from an electronics or video s tor e.
20 Setting Up the Projector Before you start , make sure the proj ector and your compon ent video sourc e are turned off. 1. Co nne ct th e red a nd wh it e plu gs on t he A/ V cabl e to th e proje ctor’s Audio L (w hite) and R (r ed) jack s.
Setting Up the Projector 21 Connecting to External Speakers or a PA System The pro jector ’s sp eake r is lo ud en ough f or mo st sm all- or me dium -size rooms. For l arge rooms or maximum vo lume, you can connect the projector to external speaker s or a public address (PA) system.

2 Using the Projector 23 Using the Projector Once you’ve c onnected the pro jector to yo ur computer o r other equipment (as describe d in Chapter 1), you’re ready to turn on th e projector, adjust the image, and give your presentation.
24 Using the Projector 3. Connect the other end to a grounded el ectrical outlet. The Power light on the proj ector turns orange, ind icating that the pr ojecto r is receiv ing po wer and i s in sl eep mod e, but is not yet turned on. 4. Remove the lens cap.
Using the Projector 25 What To Do If Yo u See a Blank Screen If you see a blank scree n or a blue screen with the message No Signal after turning on your computer or video source, do one of the foll owin g: ■ Make sure the c ables are conne cted cor rectly, as descri bed in Chapter 1.
26 Using the Projector If You’re Using a PowerBook Running OS 9.x or Earlier. . . You may need to set up your system to display on the proje ctor scree n as well as the L CD scree n. Follow th ese step s: 1. From the Appl e menu, select Control Panels , then click Monitors and Sound.
Using the Projector 27 If You’re Using a PowerBook Running OS X . . . You may need to set up your system to display on the projector as well as the LCD s creen. Follo w these step s: 1. Sel ect Syste m Prefere nce s from the Appl e menu. 2. Clic k Displays .

Using the Projector 29 Adjustin g Your Image Once you see your image, you’ll need to make certain adjustments: ■ To focus yo ur image, s ee below. ■ To resize or zoom into your image, see below. ■ To raise or low er the image, see page 30. ■ If the image isn’t square, see page 31.
30 Using the Projector Using the E-Zoom Button If you want to zoom in on a portion of the image, use the E-Zoom and Enter buttons on the remote control. Press the + side of the E-Zoom button to zoom in to y our im age i n smal l inc reme nts. Pr ess the – side to zoom out.
Using the Projector 31 3. Once th e image is positi oned where yo u want it, rele ase the lever s to lock the feet into positio n. 4. To fine-tune the hei ght, rotate the feet clockwise to raise the projecto r and countercloc kwise to lower it.
32 Using the Projector Adjusting the Image Qua lity You may need to adjust the projector ’s Tracking and Sync settings if your computer image has any of these q uality proble ms: ■ Flashing or blu.

34 Using the Projector Using the Remote Contr ol as a Wireless Mouse Using the remote c ontrol as a wireless mouse gives you more flex ibi li ty; you do n’t nee d t o st ay ne ar yo u r co mp ute r o r the pr oje ct or to run your pres entation.
Using the Projector 35 Controlling Audio and Video While giving your p resentation, you may want to switch betwe en pict ure sourc es, temp orarily turn off o r freez e the pic ture, or adjust th e volum e.
36 Using the Projector Turning Off the Picture a nd Sound You can use the A/VMute button on the remote c ontrol to turn off the image and sound. This lets yo u temporaril y re-di rect your audience’s atten tion without the distra ction of a bright screen.
Using the Projector 37 Using the Cursor/Stamp Arrow You can use the cursor stamp tool as a pointer and place cursor stamps anywhere on your scree n. 1. To activate the cu rsor stamp, pres s the 1 button on the re mote control. A icon appears on the screen.

3 Fine-Tuning the Projector 39 Fine-Tuning the Projector You can use the on -screen menus to ad just the im age, sound, and other features of you r proj ector.

44 Fine-Tuning the Projector Customizing Projec tor Features You can use the Setting menu and the Advanced menu to adjust a variety of pro jector func tions. * You can also u se the Ke ystone button on the project or to ad just this s etting. If the image is noticeably uneven, reduce the S harpness setting on the V ideo menu.
Fine-Tuning the Projector 45 Viewing Projector Information The About menu lets you view informati on about the display settings of your comp uter, your vi deo signal mod e, and the number of hour s the lamp has b een used. T he options available in the menu depen d on which source is connected to the projector: computer or vide o.
46 Fine-Tuning the Projector Restoring the Default Sett ings The Reset Al l settin g lets you r eturn all the projec tor’s me nu settings to their initia l fac tory defau lts, e xcept fo r the Lam p and Langu age settings. Select Reset Al l and press the Enter button on the remote control to display the confir mation sc reen.
4 Maintaining and Transporting the Projector 47 Maintaining and Transporting the Projector Your projector ne eds little maintenance. All you need to do on a regular basis is keep the le ns clea n. Any dirt or sm ears on the lens will show up on your projec ted im age.
48 Maintaining and Transporting the Pr ojector Cleaning the Lens Clean the le ns whenever you notice dirt o r dust on the surface. ■ To remov e du st, use a canist er of compre ssed ai r to s pray th e lens surface, or lightly wipe the lens surface with a so ft, dry, lint-free clo th.
Maintaining and Transporting the Projector 49 Cleaning the Ai r Intake Vent Clean the air intake vent after eve ry 100 hours of use, or if the Error light on top of th e projecto r turns re d. If the v ent is not cle aned per iodicall y, it ca n become clo gged with dust, preventing proper ventilation.
50 Maintaining and Transporting the Pr ojector Replacing the Lamp The projecti on lamp typically lasts fo r about 1500 hours of use. It is time to replace the lamp wh en: ■ The projec ted image gets d arker or start s to deteri orate. ■ The Error light on top of the projector is flashing red i n 1-se cond in terva ls.
Maintaining and Transporting the Projector 51 5. Use a scre wdriv er to loo sen the two lamp co ver s crews; you can’t remove the screws . Then pull out th e lamp by the two notc hes. 6. Position the new lamp correc tly, then gently insert it int o the projecto r.
52 Maintaining and Transporting the Pr ojector Transporting the Projector The projector contains many glass and precision parts. If you need to transpor t it, ple ase fol low the se packing guidel ines to prevent damaging the projecto r: ■ When shi pping the pro ject or for repai rs, use the o riginal packaging material if possible.

Solv ing P roblem s 55 Checkin g the Proje ctor’s Lig hts If your p rojec tor isn’t working c orrectl y, fir st tur n it off, wait fo r it to cool, and unplug it. Then plug the power cord back in and turn on the projector . If this doesn’t so lve the pro blem, check the lights on top of the proj ector.
56 Solv in g Prob lem s Image or Sound Problems No imag e appea rs or the No Si gnal message is displa yed. ■ Check that the Power light is green and not flashi ng and the lens co ver is off. If the Power light is orange, the projector is in sl eep mode; pres s th e Pow er button to wake it up.
Solv ing P roblem s 57 Only part of the computer image is displayed. ■ If the computer’s output resolution setting is higher than 800 × 600 ( EPSON PowerLit e 51c) or 1 024 × 768 (EPSON PowerLite 7 1c), the image is resi zed.
58 Solv in g Prob lem s ■ There may be dirt or smears on the lens. Clean the lens by gently wiping it with an alcohol-based cleaner on a soft clot h. See page 48 fo r more i nform ation. ■ Your video signal mode may not be de tected automatically.

Se non hai ancora comprato il Epson 71c è un buon momento per familiarizzare con i dati di base del prodotto. Prime consultare le pagine iniziali del manuale d’uso, che si trova al di sopra. Dovresti trovare lì i dati tecnici più importanti del Epson 71c - in questo modo è possibile verificare se l’apparecchio soddisfa le tue esigenze. Esplorando le pagine segenti del manuali d’uso Epson 71c imparerai tutte le caratteristiche del prodotto e le informazioni sul suo funzionamento.
