[ pg. 7] Front Panel Components Description Power LED This LED goes ON when the power is being supplied to the router. WLAN LED This LED goes ON when the RF (w ireless LAN) feature is enabled. WAN LED This LED goes ON when an Ethernet cable is connected to the router’s WAN port.

[ pg. 9] 3. Getting Started 3.1. Usi ng you r CD Before getting started, please power off your cable modem or the DSL. 1. Insert the ESR300H Installatio n CD into your CD-ROM drive. The CD should automatically s tart in a few se conds.
[ pg. 10] 3.2. Setup you r net work cables 1. Power on ESR300H. 2. Plug either end of an Ethernet cable into the WAN port on the back panel of the router (see CABLE 1).
[ pg. 11] 3. Plug either end of an Ethernet cable in to the LAN port on the back panel of the router (see CABLE 2 ). Plug the other end o f the cable into your computer. 4. Make sure the network cable and power adapter are firmly connected.

[ pg. 15] Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol ( L2TP) To set up an L2TP connection, enter t he type of WAN connectio n (Static IP or DHCP). After, depending on the type of WAN, follo w t he in struct ions of DHCP or Static IP to fill out the corresponding information.

[ pg. 31] Dynamic IP: A DHCP type o f connection where your internet connection is usually always on and your internet servic e provider automatically provides you with a dynamic IP address . A DHCP conn ection is usually from a Cable internet service.
[ pg. 32] Clone MAC: Some ISPs re quire you to register the MAC ad dress of your networ k interface c ard (NIC) connected direc t ly to y our cable or DSL modem during installation. Clone MAC will mask the router's MAC address with the MAC address of your NIC.
[ pg. 33] Static IP To set up a Static IP connection, enter t he following: IP Address of the Internet Connection, Subne t Mask, Default Gateway, and bot h DNS Servers provided by your Internet Service pr ovide r (ISP) or Network Admini strator.
[ pg. 34] PPPoE Point-to-Point Protocol o ver Ethernet (PPPoE): To set up a PPPo E connection, en ter the Username, Pass word, and Service (name) o f the internet connection provided by your ISP. A PPPoE connection is us ually from a DSL interne t service.
[ pg. 35] MTU : Maximum Transmission Unit. It specifies the largest packet si ze permitted for internet transmission. The factory default MTU siz e of PPPoE is 1492. If you wish to manually change the MTU size, set it be tween 1200 and 1492.

Aft er, depending on the ty pe of WAN, follow the in struct ions of DHCP or Static IP to fill out the corre sponding information. [ pg. 37] Idle Timeout: Maximum amount of time f or inactive internet con nection. The internet connection will be dropped when t he maximum idle time is reached.

[ pg. 40] 7. Wireless LAN Setup Wirele ss > Basic In th e Basic Wi reless Se tup ( Located in t he Wireless section in the Main Menu ), select Basic , and yo u can quickly enable and configure t he Wireless network.

Mode : Select Access Point mode or Wireless Distribution Se rvice (WDS) mode for your router . • AP: Use the ESR300H as a Wireless Access Point for wireless devices to conne ct.
[ pg. 42] 5. Data Rate : This is the rate in wh ich the ESR300H will t ransmit data packets. 6. N Data Rate : This is the rate in w hich the ESR300H will transmit data packets to Wireless N compatible devices.

[ pg. 47] Wireless > WPS To configure the WiFi Protected Setup information, s elect the WPS option from the Wireless section. WPS is an e asy way to all ow wireless clients to connect to the ESR300H . This can automate con nection between the device and the ESR300H by use of a button or a PIN.

[ pg. 54] Firew all > Ad vanc ed VPN Passthrough : Allows VPN (Virtual Private Network) packets to pass t hroug h the Firewall. If you are not using VPN, these optio ns can be disabled. VPN L2TP Pa ssthrough, VPN PPTP Passthrough, and VPN IPSec Passthrough are enabled by factory defau lt for better secur ity.
[ pg. 55] Firewall > DMZ (Demilitar i zed Zone) If you have a client PC that cannot run an In ternet application (e.g. Games) properly from behind the NAT firewall, then you ca n open up the firewall restrictions to allow unrestricted two-wa y Internet access by de f ining a DMZ Host.
[ pg. 56] Firewall > DoS (Denial of Service) To enable blocking of DoS at t acks, select the DoS option in the Firewall section. DoS attacks can flood your internet connection with continuous trans mission of data. Blocking th ese attack can ensure that the internet co nnection will always be available.

VPN (Virtual Priv ate Net work) S ection VPN > Sta tus A Virtual Private Netwo rk (VPN) provides a secure connection be t we en two remote locations or two us ers over the public Internet . It provides authentication to securely encrypt the data communicated betwee n th e two remo te endpoints.

Se non hai ancora comprato il EnGenius ESR150H è un buon momento per familiarizzare con i dati di base del prodotto. Prime consultare le pagine iniziali del manuale d’uso, che si trova al di sopra.
