Installation Steps: Step 1: Inser t the CoPilot Live Install Disk into your CD-R OM drive. Enter your Product K ey Code when prompted (y ou can find it on the cov er of your printed Quick Star t ). Click Next . Step 2: Make sure P ock et PC Installation and Desktop Installation are check ed on the installation menu.

Uninstalling a Pr e vious V ersion If you ha ve been using an earlier v ersion of Pock et CoPilot it will be necessar y for y ou to uninstall the application and its data befor e installing CoPilot Live. NO TE: When uninstalling CoPilot, y our GPS receiver cannot be attached.

Data Do wnload to Y our Pock et PC T o use CoPilot Live on y our Pock et PC , you first need to download map data from y our desktop or laptop computer to your P ocket device. Y ou select the data to download fr om one or more regions (“data ar eas”) that you specify in the CoPilot Live a pplication on your desktop .
Data Do wnload Step 2 : Choose a Data Selection Method After you specify a location wher e the data will be stored, you will be prompted to select a region on the ma p to download. CoPilot allows y ou to download data using one of the three methods described belo w .
Data Do wnload Step 3 : Select Your Data Use any of the thr ee methods covered on the f ollowing pages ( City Radius , Map Ar ea , or Tr i p ) to select one or more regions and then do wnload your data.
Map Area - 15 - - 16 - Note: CoPilot’ s available memor y calculations subtract 15 MB from the a vailable memor y on your storage car d (if you ar e using one) to account for support files. 4. Trip - 17 - - 18 - 3. If you choose the P oints of Interest tab, enter a City , State or a ZIP Code and click the Find button. Y ou can specify search parameters by selecting a POI Category and/or T ype (this will speed up the search). 3a. Highlight a selection , click Select , then Add Stop .

Impor ting Custom Places CoPilot Live’ s Custom Place Impor t Wizard enables you to import addr esses from your Outlook Contacts database, an Excel file , or text file. (If you are using another type of database or contact manager , you can export your contacts/ locations to an Excel or text file befor e importing them into CoPilot Live.
Softw ar e Activ ation NO TE: CoPilot Live w on’t open on y our Pock et PC unless map data has been pre viously downloaded from the CoPilot desktop application. CoPilot Live m ust be activated after installation before y ou can use it. Follow the steps below to obtain an Activation Code that will unlock the software: 1.
Addr ess Entry NO TE: There is no need to enter a starting point. CoPilot Live uses GPS positioning to determine your location automaticall y . Using Y our Pock et PC for Guidance In CoPilot Live's Guidance Mode y ou will receiv e turn-by-turn route guidance information as y ou tra vel.
- 27 - Once you enter a destination, CoPilot will displa y the Edit T rip scr een . At this point you can enter ad ditional stops using the tool bar or begin receiving guidance to the destination you enter ed by tapping the View Route button (see below).
Entering a W ork Ad dr ess Finding Points of Inter est - 29 - T ap the W ork button . The first time you use this button, you’ll be prompted to enter your W ork Addr ess . Enter the City or ZIP code , Addr ess , and (optionally) Name of your w orkplace .
3. Guidance - 32 - Changing V ie ws: Map/Itiner ar y/Guidance T oggle NO TE: It is not safe to attempt to alter settings on your P ocket PC while you ar e driving. Either hav e a passenger make chang es, or pull o ver to a safe ar ea. 1. Map 2. Itinerary In Guidance Mode you will r eceive turn-by-turn driving instructions.
T rip Editing and W a ypoints T o get to the Edit T r ip screen fr om the Guidance screens at any time, tap the screen an ywhere except on the map to displa y the tool bar , then tap the Edit Tr i p button. From her e you can edit the current trip or ad d additional stops.
Picking Stops Fr om the Map CoPilot Live enables y ou to pick a stop off the map when you don’ t know the exact addr ess of your destination. Y ou must be in Planning mode to pick a stop and name it (choose Planning from the Mode men u ). The stop you pick and name becomes a F avor ite , which you can then enter as a destination in any mode.
- 38 - Selectiv e Routing CoPilot Live allo ws you to be selectiv e about the roads you tak e on your trip . There ar e two wa ys to do this: 1) you can customize your T rip Itinerary in Guidance mode so that CoPilot will a void certain roads; or 2) you can guide CoPilot’ s route by entering stops as “wa ypoints”.
POI Aler t Options T ap the Fa vorites T ab to open the list of your F avor ite Addresses . Y ou can change the assignment of your Wo r k or Home address as w ell as Edit and Delete One or Delete All addresses.
The GPS Menu Status Receiving signals-ON Receiving signals-OFF T o view y our GPS satellite activity at any time, select Status from the GPS menu. Here y ou will receive information on Speed , Lat/ Long position, Heading , and Time and Date . T ap on the Sats tab for more GPS satellite information.
Save Current Location Y ou can use the GPS menu to sa ve your curr ent location as a fav orite place . Y ou must be r eceiving GPS data to do this. T ap the GPS menu and then select Save Current Location. A prompt will ask y ou to assign a location name to your curr ent latitude/ longitude position.
Guidance (Driver Safety Screen) Map will only be sho wn as you appr oach turn. No GPS Signal If toolbar is not visible tap an ywhere on the screen. Next turn instruction. Next turn arr ow and distance to next turn. Customizable display , tap to cycle between curr ent road, crossr oad, speed, current time, elevation, and nearest town.
Address Input Screen Points of Interest Search T ap the Contacts button to select an addr ess from P ocket Outlook. Enter a City/ZIP code for your destination by typing it in using the k eyboard at the bottom of the scr een. Pre viously entered cities can be chosen from the dr op-down list.
T rip Planning on Y our Desktop On the following pages y ou will find brief descriptions of the trip planning capabilities of the CoPilot Liv e desktop application. Y ou can use CoPilot's desktop functions to map out r outes and print maps and driving directions befor e getting on the road.

The following is a guide to the main scr eens you will see as you use your desktop/la ptop computer for trip planning.
Trip Planner Window (Points of Interest) Trip Planner Window (Favorites) - 59 - Select Ta b for P oints of Interest. Enter a city or postal code in which you w ould like to search, a radius within which to search, choose a category and type from the dr op-down menu, and click the binoculars to search.
Routing Options Trip Summary Click the Options button in the T rip Planner window to access CoPilot routing options. Auto Quick est is the default setting, and pro vides the quickest r outing for automobiles based on practical considerations such as road quality , terrain, and urban/ rural classifications.
CoPilot Liv e Communications CoPilot Live no w allows you to maintain tw o-way comm unication with drivers who are using CoPilot and to actuall y see where the y are curr ently located using your home or office PC. Using this CoPilot Live functionality r equires the following: 1) CoPilot Live open on your home or office PC.
Send/Receive Messages - Desktop T o send a message to the driver , click the Send Message button on the toolbar . - 66 - Click your cursor in the space just belo w the Standard Response Buttons , and begin typing.
Receive/Respond To Messages - Pocket PC Send Trip Itinerary Updates - Desktop - 67 - - 68 When you ar e the driver and a message is sent to you, CoPilot Live displa ys it on top of all other windows. If you ha ve CoPilot Liv e's text-to-speech engine installed, when a message is received y ou will hear the text of the message spok en out loud.
When the driver r esponds to your trip itinerar y update, the response is displa yed in the Message Center : Receive Trip Itinerary Updates - Pocket PC - 69 - - 70 - Send T rip and Driver’ s Response When you ar e the driver and a T rip Itinerar y Update is sent to you, CoPilot Live displa ys it on top of all other windows.
